Howlin0001
What do you thikn it will be like?I'm kind of sad that they ended the other two series of Stargate but hopefully this one will live up to the other two. From what I have read the SGU should be and interesting but I do have some questions about it, but I'm going to wait and see the first few episodes and the film before I ask them :P Here is what Wiki said about it[hide=Spoiler if you don't want to know]Stargate Universe will be set on the Ancient ship Destiny, which was part of an Ancient experiment to seed the galaxies with Stargates millions of years ago. While a first ship was sent to seed the galaxies with Stargates, the Destiny was to follow a pre-programmed mission to explore these galaxies until the Ancients ascended and left the ship unmanned. In order to reach this ship, an address would have to be dialed consisting of nine chevrons, a possibility that had been unknown in the previous Stargate series.[6] The series begins when a team of soldiers and scientists from present-day Earth step through the Stargate to find the Destiny after their base is attacked.[7] They are unable to maneuver the ship or even return to Earth, but they can use the Stargate to visit planets when the Destiny comes into the range of another Stargate and stops for brief periods of time.[8] Life support including air supply is also a problem at first.[9] There will be three major deaths in the pilot episode and one suicide by episode six.[10] The writers have discussed the possibility that each season represents a voyage of the Destiny through a different galaxy.[11] Stargate Universe is written to appeal to both veteran fans and newcomers. It will be firmly entrenched in pre-established Stargate mythology without relying on it too often.[8][12] Although it will still have the familiar Stargate themes of adventure and exploration,[8] the show will focus mostly on the people aboard the ship.[13] SGU will be more serialized than its predecessors, but the writers attempt to resolve each character story within the episode.[8] There is a conscious effort to avoid making SGU too serialized, and the serialization will mainly stem from character development.[14] The industry describes the show with the buzz words "dark and edgy".[8] According to Robert C. Cooper, the essence of the story is "that sort of fear and terror of a tragedy combined with the sense that there is hope for us in the basic ways in which human beings survive".[8] The increased levels of drama will still be balanced with humor to avoid pretentiousness. The differences between good and evil will be less apparent, as the ship will be populated with flawed and unprepared characters who were not supposed to go here.[8] According to Brad Wright, the show will "hopefully explor[e] the truly alien, and [avoid] the rubber faced English-speaking one". There will be aliens, but not a single dominant villain race like SG-1's Goa'uld and Atlantis' Wraith.[8][15]Stargate Universe[/hide](Remember spoilers goes in hide tabs with the word spoiler on in.) EDIT: Please note that Stargate Universe is one or two weeks ahead of the season in the United Kingdom. Stargate Universe is shown in the USA on a Friday night and the same episode would be shown on SkyOne in the UK 11 days later.
Stilev
im a big fan of the stargate series, so this looks like a spin off of Atlantis, as in looking at one of the nicer pieces of tech that the ancients made, its way to early to know if it will live up to the series but im glad that they are at least trying something new to keep it going, but i hope this doesn't run it into the ground. also nice to see a little bit of history into the series which i think this will present it as, but nothing can live up to SG-1 sadly
ilovecuttingyews
After seeing the first 2 parts of the 3 part preimere it doesn't look too bad. The characters don't seem as lovable as people like O'neil or Sheppard, but I don't know yet. Also, being on a ship traveling from planet to planet I don't think there will be much for a reoccuring enemy other then time.I think it is too early to pass judgement but I don't see it being as good as SG-1 or Atlantis. Keyno's are sweet.
PoorLepRecon
Meh lost my old post. Remember to hide tag it if you say anything about the show (no one has yet, this is just a reminder). Some people may not have seen the premier yet. I like Dr. Rush. He will be an interesting character to watch. I have some discrepancies that I want to get out there though. [hide]The Ha'taks should have been destroyed immediatly. The Hammond should have Asgard beam weapons, so they should have been taken care of immediatly. I find it hard to believe that they would send a ship out on active duty without their best technology. I also don't see why the Lucian Alliance would even be out there, but we may get that answer later. The ship has been travelling for millions of years? MILLIONS? I find that hard to believe. Metal decays in that time. Even the Ancients wouldn't have a ship that doesn't decay.[/hide] I like the show. I'm glad Stargate is back. I hope they can match SG1 and Atlantis. indy500fan
I was expecting much, much less, so when it turned out to be decent I was surprised. That may have skewed my perception into believing it was better than it actually was. There were still parts that annoyed me, and the acting of many left something to be desired, and there are a few characters that I just don't like. So I don't think I'll like it as much as the others.

The Observer
I might watch it to see what it's like. After all, I thoroughly enjoyed Atlantis and SG-1.
PoorLepRecon
[hide]So, the final scene was pretty cool. Now we have a strange ship/probe leaving the ship. Looks like the Destiny has been monitered for a while. Also, it looks like they left those 2 guys behind who went through the Stargate. :ohnoes: [/hide] Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them! indy500fan
I don't think we should have to use hide tags every week, the show has been established now and people who are going to watch it are watching it. Just don't check the thread until you watch the newest episode. I think it was implied that they sent the other two a remote to get them back, the girl is kind of a main character. PoorLepRecon
The design of the ship doesn't look ancient though. It has red propulsion. No ancient ship uses red propulsion. Ever. frakir_staer
Very old Ancient ship, isn't it though? Maybe they improved their tech since then. Howlin0001
Well it's only thousands of years old, not millions. But what type of hyperdrive does it use? I have never seen one like that. Kcdragon8116Maybe the ancients did use it but changed for X reason.
frakir_staer
I don't think it's actually a hyperdrive. It looks more like some sort of warp drive, like it's bending space around the ship, not shunting it to an alternate dimension. Howlin0001
Yea well what ever it is. I think it's nice. We see like mist or something as well as just stars passing by.
Danqazmlp
Just watched the first 3. Its very good. It seems to use a different way of storytelling than the traditional stargate way, which works well. I do like how there is not just out of the ordinary good guys on the ship, they are all different. It also seems much more gritty than other stargate series, which i guess is the reason it was given a 15 tag by sky. I can't image SG-1 having a minor sex scene. I can't wait to see what that escape pod thing was. Want to be my friend? indy500fan
I liked last nights episode. Not too much of a fan of the communication with Earth, I think the show would have a better feel if they were all alone.
PoorLepRecon
I liked last nights episode. Not too much of a fan of the communication with Earth, I think the show would have a better feel if they were all alone. You're right, but it makes sense the Colonel Young would prioritze communication before passing through a Stargate with an unknown destination. I like the conflict that begins when Telford switches places with Colonel Young. I can already tell that in one of these episodes he will imitate Young and begin giving orders and possibly screwing up the ship. For their power problems, I bet that their course towards the Sun is not a bad thing. I wonder if the Destiny has some sort of fail-safe power regeneration method that involves the use of a Sun. The Ancients had to have a way to regenerate or recharge power because they were planning on living on the ship at some point, after it had been flying for thousands of years. Also, I like the Kino's. They keep finding new uses for them. indy500fan
I actually kind of assumed that the engines would "refuel" from the gas giant, which normally have massive amounts of h3 that is could be used for reactions.
The_Mather1
How far have it come? I don't have Sci-Fi channel so I plan to download it as soon the first season is done. Also, that movie that was mentioned is it a prequel like StarGate or a sequel like Continuum and The Arc of Truth? Twitter: @TheMather1
PoorLepRecon
You can find the episodes on Hulu.com to watch. StarGate was not a prequel. It started the whole series. It was the first episode you could say, just in movie format. I'm not sure what movie you are talking about though. PoorLepRecon
I knew that they would use the Star to refuel! That was a pretty awesome episode. Now they have full reserves and can start to look at the technologies on the ship. That will be very cool. I was hoping Eli and the senators daughter was going to sleep together and get together, not that pilot. I was too at first, then I realized that would have been too much of a "for the fans" type of feeling, more of whom would relate with Eli than the lieutenant.
