I've recently come back from a 5 month break from runescape. My main convincer was display names, though I'm changing mine again in a week.

 

I'm staring 83 slayer in the eye right now as I am 82 slayer 180k till 83, but something has recently blocked my vision; The new task, aquanties.

 

I'm 95 defense, 97 hp, 99 att + str, and use karils top + bottom, d boots, whip, fury, zerker, rune defender, barrows gloves, slayer helm, and my attack cape (t).

 

I use a bunyip + carry the swallow whole scrolls in order to eat the raw fish the aquanites drop. I also carry half an inv of monks (other half is assorted slayering goodies such as pure sets, bunyip pouches, and a few other misc. items that are necessary).

 

Even will all this, I find it very difficult to defeat a task of aquanites without multiple trips and a couple near death experiences.

 

So my question is: How do I better defeat these and what gear can I use to prevent the constant onslaught of the aquanite?

 

(P.S.Q: How common is the range ammy drop?)

Use a stab weapon either zammy spear or leaf bladed sword.

Z spear or a leafbladed sword, and use prossy + mage pray. They hardly use the special that disables your prayer. Bunyips and EE/SGS is enough healing for when they do disable it.

Like everyone else mentioned a z spear or leaf-bladed sword (with dragonfire/mind shield) both help extend your trips.

 

As for how common the ammy is, not sure the "official" rate, but I've been getting them about 1/350 kills. Only have 2 so far though, so that probably isn't the most accurate.

I wear Karils top and bottom with Zammy spear and use Enhanced Excalibur for spec(heals 20).

Instead of monks, carry in inventory baskets of strawberries.

Block the task. Easiest way to dispose of them.

Proselyte in mage pray would be your best bet. I had excactly the same problem. The special is not used often and is hardly a nuisance. Oh and use a zamorakian spear on stab mode.

if you allready have a SGS, just go ahead and use it, with 99 att, slay helm, and super pots, you will hit well enough.

Part of the reason you might be experiencing such difficulty is because Aquanites attack with magic and 70% of your magic defense comes from your magic level. Without a significantly high magic level, Aquanites simply require too much healing, so as pretty much everyone else mentioned, you should use proselyte and pray protect from magic. Alternatively, blocking them could be a good idea considering they're a relatively slower and annoying task and their drops are terrible besides the amulet of ranging.

It's simply not worth it in my opinion. It takes too long, you have to pay attention all the time. Drops are ok'ish, but not great.

 

I have tried several tactics and didn't find a single one satisfactory. And I am not going to use up a lot of prayer pots just to do them.

 

In comparison, I can tank dark beasts with a bunyip and one prayer pot for the entire task (+SGS). I can't do that with aquanites.

 

So I sacrificed my last block to never see aquanites again.

I have max melee and 92 magic and still struggle. I can suffice with a unicorn, just. Still need to carry a prayer pot just in case.

I'm not personally a professional in knowledge of aquanites, but it seems to me that extending prayer would be a valuable thing.

So wouldn't the Falador Shields be worth considering? The prayer bonus can be better than that of a god book and it can offer a one-fourth, one half, or even full prayer recovery.

Zamorakian Spear, the best weapon to use there, is two-handed.

Just equip the shield when you need it? Then you wouldn't be able to attack and it would then be pointless. Best to just wear mage def gear or prayer gear and get fast kills with the Zamorakian Spear.
