I get high on pull-ups. By some fluke, despite being the skinniest twigman y'ever did see, I can crank out pull-ups like there's no tomorrow. I have no idea why, maybe being light means I don't have to pull as much weight. There was a time where I did 20 every night before bed. I might be able to still, I'll check tonight. It was always fun, though, during gym class when all but the most athletic kids opted for the arm hang or only did a few, then I would blow them all out of the water.

Seriously, this is like, the one physical thing I'm good at. Not sit-ups, not running, sure as hell not push-ups.

And I know what you mean about calluses. I might not be able to do many any more because it's been so long and my callsuses have probably vanished.

My best is in the twenties. Currently I can do seventeen. I'd like to up that, but I've been adding lower body mass this semester so I havnt been able to increase my max reps. Meh, hopefully pullover>squats.

Lenin, when I was in middle school I was a small, skinny kid, but I could still do fifteen pullups. Once I started getting bigger that dropped down to like five. So, no offense, but what you're experiencing is ease of light weight moreso than upper body strength. I thought you were a decent age though... How much do you weigh...? At my first prime I was a little over 100 lbs, but at your age is find it hard to believe you'd be that light.

normally my hands cramp before my arms get tired, so i only like doing pullups AFTER a workout, when i can only do 5-10. I prefer doing those drooping things, like a backwards pullup, I have no idea what it's called but i get a better work out from it.

I once did a CF workout that was simply "do 100 pullups as quickly as possible". By some force of will I managed 21 on my first set, but by the end was barely managing sets of 1. By the end my forearms were massively aching, but it's very grip intensive.

The grip is the least of my worries, it's the fact that it's not body weight that's the issue, it's a utter lack of any arm muscle to pull upward. I can do maybe 3 before burning out for a few minutes or so.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Depends on the type of pullup you are refering too..

The palms in pullup is just a different form of a curl and in all intents and purposes is about as easy as it gets as long as you arent a fatass. In most communities.. The palms facing you pull up isn't even considered a pullup, and you get made fun of for even doing them at the gym..

As for the other pullup..

Palms out. Arms spread past shoulder width. Thats a mans exercise.. And I suspect that 99% of the forums could not complete 5 reps to save their life.

But if I had to give numbers.. Without swinging, with perfect form and full arm extension I could pop out 20 easily if we are speaking of palm in. Palm out, I'll get 12 on a good day.

As of last week I think I did something like 20 or so. Right now I can probably only do 10 since my whole body is sore from being sick.

True dat. Wide grip is so much harder.

Question: what's a great way to neutralize swinging? Crossing the legs? Or just forcing yourself to go up and down?
