He said to me the other day, "Give me an MP3 of a song, 20 minutes and ill be able to do a drum cover of it". I was wondering if anyone knew a song that is so difficult to cover that it would make his comment invalid. The best one I could think of so far is "Ticks and Leeches" by Tool. BR BR BR? If he plays it correct, and not just some crappy beat he puts over it, I will say he is the best drummer of all time. It is not humanly possible. Or if you want to throw him off, ask him to play Scatterbrain by Jeff Beck. You can't play it unless you move your ride cymbal to the left side making you play EVERYTHING off the left :) (meaning you play everything with your left hand dominant instead of your right hand.) Just because you can play someone else's beats doesn't make you good. It may improve your skill as a drummer (which is what I use covers for), but someone who is truly good will be creating their own music as well. And to do that well, is very difficult.
