fakeitormakeit2
Oh yes, and I've realized. Light a fire. Which way do you always move? East towards the sun. I just thought that was a bit interesting. And I can think of a few altars off the top of my head that point in the Eastern direction, which is a characteristic of some Christian denominations. ^Oh and good thing you're not a theology major, using language like gaining God's grace is the misunderstand that caused the Protestant Reformation :P. I just thought that was a bit interesting. I'd hate to burst your bubble, but you move to the West... Also east doesn't mean you move towards the sun. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. If you are on the equator it will go straight overhead, if you north of it it will pass to the south. If your south of it it will pass to the north. So in most places at any given time you have 2 directions you can move towards the sun Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Mio
Alters in a church - In real life represent the last supper. The defence booster in basic prayer book - Looks like a person on a cross. Jesus? :???: No the last supper is represented by the sacrament of receiving the bread and wine which is brought up to the altar yes. But the altars in runescape represent the ones at the back of the church. (Generally 2 altars, one at the far end..... ummm East methinks it is..... and the one mid way down the church). And if we're being pedantic about the prayers, piety and chivalry were commonly held beliefs by the people of the medieval period. Piety came about from crusading, donating to churches and monasteries, and pilgrimage therefore gaining God's grace and having indulgences bestowed upon you by the church decreasing your time in purgatory; so therefore it fits perfectly in with high prayer. And chivalry is the thing that's commonly portrayed as gentlemanly behaviour. *Medieval history is my degree subject btw ;p* Ohh... Thanks for that, atleast I know now. ;D  I completly forgot about the reciving of bread and wine at the alter.. Maybe I should've been listening and not on my mobile in that lesson.. :P But what about the defence prayer pictures of what it looks like a guy on a cross? It doesn't really look like a guy on the cross. For one there is no cross, also the head is straight up, figures on the cross tend to have a loling head AND the cross extends past the feet, which again shows no cross. Its just a figure of a person surrounded by an aura, illustrating the aura the prayer gives to produce the defence Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Jeda45
The ruler of Jatizso is a King, the ruler of Neitiznot is a Burgher, put them together and you get Burgher King (Burger King). True or am I completely off my rocker?According to Wikipedia, a Burgher is:"A formally defined class in medieval German cities, usually the only group from which city officials could be drawn. The equivalent in German of burgess or bourgeoisie."And there are also great burghers. There are also Burgermeisters, who are mayors. So there are a lot of high german ranks with "burger" or "burgher" in them, I seriously doubt they planned the "Burgher King" bit. ...Wat. "East toward the sun?". I prefer lighting fires toward the Triangulum Galaxy... Or Omicron2 Eridani. If you jump into a river in Paris, you're insane. If you jump into a river in Egypt, you're in denial. Rhonda
-Ezekiel Lovecraft (H.P. Lovecraft allusion)-Fortunato (reference to one of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories)-Joseph (Canifis) has an examine with the word 'comrade'. It's an obvious allusion to Joseph Stalin. His is 'He keeps calling me comrade...' Another examine in Canifis I like is Yuri: he seems to be staring at the moon. Yuri Gagarin tribute I'm sure. Svetlana's examine - she's a drama queen - makes me think of gymnast Svetlana Khorkina, but I don't know if that's what Jagex meant.

Wizz
There are also a few possible references to the band Dream Theater and a few of their songs, ex. Dream Theatre (song)- British spelling of the band's nameDogs of War (song) - DT's song, Prophets of WarThe Root of all Evil (song) - DT's song, the Root of all Evil Although the names of the RS songs would make sense even if they weren't allusions, due to their context.Dogs of War is a Shakespeare reference from The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. "Cry havoc! and slip past the dogs of war!"The Root of all Evil is a pun on the saying "The root of all evil is money" Wongton is better than me in anyway~~
Ezkaton
That one about the 4 areas of the SoS is really cool. But..... Which one of them is War? (yes I have been geeking out about Darksiders the game, so has Draz..... It's amazing). Anyways, I think they got Zamorak from one of the knights of the round table - Sir Lamorak. I only realised it after my parents gave me a coin which has all the names of the knights in popular myth....... Gota love Arthurian Legend! <3 Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D
fakeitormakeit2
Idk, I personally think Zamorak is some kind of Arabic reference seeing as how Mahjarrat is an Arabic word, he served a god that has Middle Eastern references, his symbol is the Arabic symbol 'shaddah' and in Arabic grammar when you add -ak to the end of something it's you possessive. He kind of is like a 'jinn' (genie) in Middle Eastern culture. He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked...
