And I can think of a few altars off the top of my head that point in the Eastern direction, which is a characteristic of some Christian denominations.

Also east doesn't mean you move towards the sun.

 

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. If you are on the equator it will go straight overhead, if you north of it it will pass to the south. If your south of it it will pass to the north.

 

So in most places at any given time you have 2 directions you can move towards the sun

No the last supper is represented by the sacrament of receiving the bread and wine which is brought up to the altar yes. But the altars in runescape represent the ones at the back of the church. (Generally 2 altars, one at the far end..... ummm East methinks it is..... and the one mid way down the church).

 

And if we're being pedantic about the prayers, piety and chivalry were commonly held beliefs by the people of the medieval period. Piety came about from crusading, donating to churches and monasteries, and pilgrimage therefore gaining God's grace and having indulgences bestowed upon you by the church decreasing your time in purgatory; so therefore it fits perfectly in with high prayer. And chivalry is the thing that's commonly portrayed as gentlemanly behaviour.

It doesn't really look like a guy on the cross.

 

For one there is no cross, also the head is straight up, figures on the cross tend to have a loling head AND the cross extends past the feet, which again shows no cross.

Its just a figure of a person surrounded by an aura, illustrating the aura the prayer gives to produce the defence

According to Wikipedia, a Burgher is:

"A formally defined class in medieval German cities, usually the only group from which city officials could be drawn. The equivalent in German of burgess or bourgeoisie."

And there are also great burghers.

There are also Burgermeisters, who are mayors.

 

So there are a lot of high german ranks with "burger" or "burgher" in them, I seriously doubt they planned the "Burgher King" bit.

Anyways, I think they got Zamorak from one of the knights of the round table - Sir Lamorak. I only realised it after my parents gave me a coin which has all the names of the knights in popular myth....... Gota love Arthurian Legend! <3

Idk, I personally think Zamorak is some kind of Arabic reference seeing as how Mahjarrat is an Arabic word, he served a god that has Middle Eastern references, his symbol is the Arabic symbol 'shaddah' and in Arabic grammar when you add -ak to the end of something it's you possessive. He kind of is like a 'jinn' (genie) in Middle Eastern culture.
