Ring of Wealth

Featured Replies

Read the Knowledge Base entry here.

As I have long suspected, the Ring of Wealth is NOT as useful as it was hyped to be. Although speculation was rampant, we now know how the ring works. Here are some items increased in odds by the Ring of Wealth:

  • Half Keys
  • Rune Javelins
  • Rune Square Shields
  • Rune Spears
  • Dragon Spears
  • Dragon Half Shields
  • Gems? (maybe)
  • Adamant Javelins
  • Rune Kiteshields

No Draconic Visage. No Abyssal Whip. No Armadyl Hilt. So while it supposedly increases your wealth, the items it increases are nearly worthless.

On a side note, this entry indicates that there is no "side drop table" for Draconic Visages and trophy heads, as had widely been assumed. The only secondary drop table is currently charms.

Secondary drop - Some creatures also have a secondary drop. So far, this only consists of charms used in Summoning.

EDIT: I have removed the sentence stating that ROW reduced other drops. The ROW in fact reduces only "nothing" or bones-only drops.

The chance of a "nothing" drop is decreased by wearing the Ring of Wealth.

The chance of a "nothing" drop is decreased by wearing the Ring of Wealth.

The rare table also contains 'empty slots' - the end result of landing on these empty slots is often referred to as receiving 'no drop' or 'bone drop'.

You obviously haven't read it well enough. The ring of wealth sacrifices most of the 'no drop' possibilities on the 'rare table' only. It cannot possibly decrease the average value of your drops in any situation.

However, I agree with you that nothing on the 'rare table' is anything to get particularly excited about, it's the specialised drops that really rake in the cash, and is still nearly useless if you have anything else handy. It seems a bit weird why they haven't bothered to improve the rare drop table for such a long time.

Still, I'm glad that I chucked my ring of wealth a long time ago.

No Draconic Visage. No Abyssal Whip. No Armadyl Hilt. So while it supposedly increases your wealth, an increase in these items necessitates a decrease in others, in particular drops that are actually valuable. The ring of wealth is probably only useful for killing goblins and goraks.

Untrue. If you read more carefully, it states that the ROW simply improves your drops IF you hit the rare drop table by eliminating blank spaces. If you've hit the rare table, you've already missed out on the exclusive table (armadyl hilt, abyssal whip). So there's no reason not to wear a ring of wealth at most basic NPCs. Only with bosses does it make more sense to have a ring of life or a ring with combat bonuses.

Makes me wonder what I would of gotten if I had a ring of Wealth on in times when I did get 'bone drops' >_<

Oh well, for the most part the Ring of Wealth is pretty useless, guess it's good for low combat level players, but at a certain point it would start being better to change to another ring.

im pretty sure they didnt say it lowers the drop rate of anything, *points to bladewing's post*

anyways what i'm gonna take away from this is that it doesnt affect unique drops. which typically are the most valuable by far

So they finally tell us. Very nice.

So now we know the ring of wealth is only good for moderate to low slayer tasks, like fire giants, goraks, and warped tortoises. Meh, better than having the thing be completely useless.

Because, after all, when bosshunting, you're not after the drops on the consistent rare table (the one affected by ring of wealth), you're after a specific rare drop from a specific monster.

I'm glad this was written. I had been kicking myself for wearing a ring of life at solo Saradomin and getting teeth halves. It's nice to know that wearing a ring of wealth wouldn't have mattered.

"The ring of wealth comes into play whenever you are rolling on the rare drop table" - which means that at, let's say, aviansies, the row does not effect adamant bar drops, or am I way off here?

The thing is that we don't know whether or not monster-specific drops are on the rare drop wheel. Jagex never explicitly stated that, for example, hilts arent on that wheel.

They did. The rare wheel contains all the rare drops shared by multiple NPCs. So everything monster-specific is somewhere else.

I smell a crash.

Theyre only 3k above their alch price right now. Lol

So basically they aren't as useful as we thought, too bad but it doesn't really affect anyone.

Except for whiny brats.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

Well I've been not wearing any fremmenik rings up until this point because the miniscule benefit from them was impossible to compare from the intangible expected benefit from a row. Now that it has been revealed that that intangible benefit is nearly worthless, I'll take that miniscule boost (I'd like a neutral face smiley to stick here). Suppose I'll leave off that row when soloing from now on

I'm just disappointed how different the "rare" drops according to the drop tables and what the community considers rare drops are so different.
