I'm sure they can do quick searches for repetitive behaviour, similar to their old systems for detecting macros. Failing that i'm sure they can browse through anyone who's been creating lots of bolts in the past few days.

I wish Jagex would make a statement about this. They aren't going to be taking this lightly, but it would be nice to know for definite that they are going to ban people.

Sadly, this is unlikely to happen. This is a thing on which Jagex tends to be very kayfabe about and will go completely mum.

Jagex track an awful lot of things in the game. More than probably any of us know. It's most likely that the people found abusing this will be banned.

I have an idea from previous history of some things they do track, not going to divulge that information as I'm fairly sure it was confidential.

They have logs of pretty much everything, they learned a very harsh lesson from the Partyhat dupes in November 2003, there can't really be a rollback.. If the accounts still trying to dump hundreds of thousands of bolts are banned then one day they might reach the same price. (but those around for the Partyhat dupe will know Jagex can't tell the duped from the originals so there's nothing that can be done apart from ban)

Well, I don't know how well that track changes in banks, but what if someone never put them in therbank, but highalched as they made them. I'm sure they log inventories between log outs, but I can see a senario where there is not much logging but of exp that would evidence the bolts exsistance (note I'm just trying to think like a bug abuser that didn't want to be caught). It just seems like way too much info to track every change one makes in ones inventory between logouts for every accont in game. If they do track this, I'm incredulous at how much data they must keep track of. And then to have to parse it to find this info out... the scripts would take forever...

Hmm im also wondering if as they made them they sold them to a general store if that could be logged also.

I think that Jagex is focusing more on finding the abusers then having the equivilent of a press conference about it. Remember, it took several days for Jagex to post about the penguin glitch. What they were trying to do is keep the fact that they fixed it very hush-hush in order to catch anyone who tried to do it again. As soon as they release news about it, anyone who was doing it will stop and go into hibernation mode trying to evade the censors jagex will use to find them or even try dropping the bolts to get rid of the physical evidence.

Remember, Jagex isn't limited to seeing if you have or have sold the bolts in the last few days. They can track every movement that you do. I think that Jagex should be able to track these people just by looking at the spells that players have casted in the last 3 days. Anyone who cast that specific spell is then put through the whole screening proccess to find whether or not they did the specific tasks leading up to the spell being cast.

Wow, come to think of it, if people made onyx bolts (e)... this would be worse than the Statuettes update. However, this is actually bug abuse and will cause mass bannings. Let's just watch the economy rupture.

wait wut?

statuettes update caused alot of inflation, which affects the prices of EVERYTHING. That's the only reason it caused the economy to go on the fritz

Dragon bolts(e) won't affect the prices of anything but bolts.

Maybe it will mean more people will hunt armadyl because dragon botls(e) are effective there

or maybe more people will range PK due to cheaper dragon bolt(e) prices

but i hardly expect to see a significant change in the economy beyond anything with a single degree of separation from dragon bolts(e)

if anything, the GP potentially removed from the bannings after the players managed to sell off some of their dragon bolts(e), could help counteract inflation

edit: nevermind, my bad, u said onyx bolts (e)

The problem that jagex has is that they have 2 major bugs that they are dealing with at the moment - the massive Death Potential bug where you could, once again, die with a ton of stuff but keep it, giving you easy millions of death potential for absolutely nothing. People have made hundreds of millions off of that bug. Although it basically just kinda makes your drops like old wildy

So on top of that bug (which I've heard is still possible to do but I have not gotten confirmation), we have this bug now. This ones probably a lot more easily detected because of the way people are acting and the fact that all of this has been fixed.

Jagex will most likely track them down no matter what. They will probably look into anyone who has sold a lot of enchanted bolts or has a lot of enchanted bolts then look at their experience gains, seeing if they have gained magic experience and stuff like that. They'll also probably look into deaths with bolts for potential, trades (dbolts are now junk), and other things like that.

People don't think that they log a lot of the stuff that I'm sure they do, but I'm sure they have enough ability to store stuff like that using various methods. The capabilities of a java game this big are enough to do that. I just hate it when they go easy and let people that did it a lot get away with it, it's annoyed me ever since the familiar Death Potential bug.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

Wow, another death potential bug? Hmm. I think JaGex knows so much about our accounts, even we'd be surprised. In scam reports we'd see trade logs, in normal reports we'd see chat logs, in adventure logs we'd see... adventure logs. The list goes on, JaGex will probably ban very suspicious players without thought.

Ye they alch for 9k each. So 50k x 9k= 450,000,000. That WOULD cause inflation

The alching part is the painful and dangerous part. Jagex will surely notice someone alching hundreds of thousands of a certain onyx bolts (e)...

But yes, the 'lucky/unlucky' players who duped these, just damn.

So are d bolts crashing then? It would have been nice if people did this with diamond/ruby so it would positively affect me

I agree with libs on this to be honest. I think it is appalling the amount of players who will try to bug abuse when a bug is found. I think this is due to mass naivety and thinking 'it won't happen to me' on the banning front. I am also appalled at the amount of people willing to cheat. I would love Jagex to name&shame those who bug abuse. As A have said in the past, a large part of stopping illegal actions is the deterrent part. It is all well and good punishing those doing the crimes, but you need to stop people doing crimes in the first place by letting them know of the severe consequences.

Edit: Total, I do hope you have reported that bug.

Because it's fun and tempting.

Risk is fun and if your account is banned you can just start up another.

As for jagex figuring out who is cheating and who is not, they can't even catch bot's that make the same repetitive movements for hours on end.

And bug abuse is not hurting anyone.

The RS economy is already messed up.

By your logic then it would be perfectly okay to physically abuse an injured animal because it's already hurt and what you do to it won't hurt anyone else.

Exactly the kind of attitude i hate (speaking as another player and user here and not a mod). I despise players who have that attitude. You are breaking the game, you are the reason problems like this get abused. Just because you think it is fun it should not be done. The economy works for general use, it is only messed up for very high valued items. This will have effects (unless Jagex intervine which i think they already have done). Bug abuse hurts us all. Why do you think we have to go through so many questions in the Stronghold of security. Why do you think we lost free trade? Because people cheated! Your reasons are self fulfilling.

Comparing a living creature to an ingame economy is not the same.

But i see where hes coming from, if i found a way to mass dupe party hats. I would dupe thousands of them drop them in party rooms in every world and watch the merchants cry.

Its not about the money for me its about permanent damage i can cause. Idc who hates me for this post im sure a lot of you would do the same

Okay, fine, you don't like my comparison. I have another one for you.

What you're saying is like having everyone get hit in the head with a large rock. Sure, some people are innocent, but you'd like it because some people who deseve it had it happen to them too.

ediit- To your edit, I don't hate you for what you said. Hate would imply that I care about you. What I do care about is having as few people in my game that want to cause damage as I can.

[Robin Hood? Robbing from the rich who earned their wealth and then gives it to the poor who didn't earn it based on some vague and indefinable notion of "need?" Don't getme started on Robin Hood.

You just want chaos and destruction because you're a miserable cretin who likes seeing other people have theit time, effort, and achievement negated.

Well the main Robin hood story is that He robbed from the rich who had used cruelty and deceit to get their money from the poor, then gave it back to the poor. So it would only be like somebody using the old u(Can't do letter codes, the one in my sig) glitch, then giving the items back to those killed. But this is getting rather off topic, so can we head back in the right direction please, because i can see this turning into a more personal attack route.

You know what would be hilarious?

If every duper dumped their bolts into the Party Room.

I hope these guys get banned though, look though GX history to find any mass buying/selling of the vertical items would help, but that's loads of data there.

You and I both know this, but often times you change what you'd say based on the pupular perception of things. Now when it comes to something like Robin Hood you practically have to speak of it's current incarntion than the historically acurate one, but I thank you for hopefully understanding my reason.

Ring like I said, I don't hate you, that would imply that I care about you in some fashion. What I said about you was just my observation of you and you can put whatever you like into your signature.
