Going to buy some chinos at the weekend.. what's the best color if I have a mainly cold neutral wardrobe?

Deep leaf green, tan, Nantucket red, white.

For budget, I'll probably pick up some nice jeans and then spend ~$100 afterwards. I want to get some dark jeans that are really nice and will last a while, raw denim preferably from what I've heard here. I'll try to post a picture of those three shoes I talked about.

 

I was thinking something more than just a shirt and chino's, but idk exactly what, that's where I'm having the problems.

Eh, not sure what you'll be able to do with a 100$ budget. The bow tie was meant to make things interesting, I guess you could pick up a surcingle belt or D-ring belt as well? Or maybe a sweater is what you're looking for?

 

Nah, I don't think a sweater. I'm also not limiting myself to exactly $100, I was just throwing a number out. If I see something I like, and will last a long time, I'll definitely shell out more to get it. I was thinking something more along the lines of the pictures of that unabashed link on the last page, the ones where he's playing lacrosse. I don't know for sure, just something more than a button shirt and pants.

White jeans/chinos. Khaki jacket; Rugby's least expensive costs 200$; it's pretty rugged and casual. Brown leather or D-ring belt. Bass weejuns, probably brown. No/no-show socks. Navy knit tie if you want to make it really preppy.

You can change the colors to make it more muted as this is pretty bold, but yeah, that's it. Not all of that is going to last you a long time (I'm looking at you, Weejuns). You're going to be spending a lot. Hold out on the jeans for now, I'd say. Look on Superfuture, shopanaffordablewardrobe and Styleforum to see if anyone's selling what you need for cheap. Don't compromise on fit.

Hey I got an idea;

does anyone here know of any jeans that are extremely light-weight? I ask because this summer I'm going to be doing groundskeeping-type work and we can't wear sleeveless shirts or shorts. In fact, I think jeans were mandatory.

I feel your pain. Really just gotta suck it up. It's horrible when you're sweating like that, especially around here in the summer (100+ degrees) - but the guys wearing shorts and tank tops usually don't do quite as good of a job, in my opinion. They always seem to be working so fast and sloppy. Get hurt easy, too.

Gap do some nice, reasonably lightweight denim. May not be what you are looking for but I was walking around in Gap jeans in 32ºC with no sweat.

The hottest I'll go before I'll I have no choice but to wear shorts is about 90F or 32C. Otherwise it's just way to hot. Especially after it gets hotter then 100F, you just feel like your roasting.

Its the humidity which gets me. Either way, a nice chino short in tan or grey are pretty much all you need for summer. I have some nice linen/cotton blend pants as well, if smoethings a tad more formal.

Not a fan of the back pockets. From what I've been reading, they're overpriced and the fades are mediocre to bad, but at 53% off it's not a bad deal. Also, elastane will usually [bleep] up your fit. Hold on your dough, look through Styleforum, Hypebeast, and Superfuture to find what you want.

Well my mom said she'd buy me some new clothes for my party. Along with the money I was going to spend, I thought I could get the jeans and the shirt/jacket I want. So, she ordered the APC New Cure's for me. After measuring my current favorite pants, I ordered the size 30. I usually get size 32. I'm really excited, should get here thursday.

 

Now, I'm thinking I can get a black or dark blue blazer/coat/top or something instead of the tan one. I'm happy that I can get the jeans and other clothes too :grin:

They're great, I never have any issues with them in Arizona's heat which has been around 32C for the past month. I usually buy shorts for around $60-$90 USD and within that price range you can find a good variety of shorts to choice from. My favorite brand of shorts are Life After Denim, but I don't know if you'll be able to find that over in the UK.

Seersucker is very breathable, but most seersucker shorts are very short. You could also try seersucker pants, like L.L.Bean Signature's. They're not white and blue, don't worry.

Are you sure New Cures will be to your liking, Blake? They're really really skinny.

I hope so, we'll see tomorrow! I looked up a lot of pictures of people wearing them, and they looked fine. There's even a picture of Kanye West wearing them, and they're not very tight looking. I can always go a size up if I need to.

New Cures aren't that skinny at all they're just slim just like New Standards and the only different between New Standards and New Cures is that New Cures are low-rise jeans.

I think it depends on how tall you are. The leg opening won't be the same if you cuff them 4 inches up (what's the inseam) and if you don't cuff them at all.
