I noticed that Gilt sells selvedge Levi's 501s for $98 like once a week.

Yeah I don't really buy many clothes online, I prefer to try them on first.

I know Esprit aren't the best brand in the world, but they are doing mid-season sales at the moment, so all their denim is going for cheap prices. Might be worth a look.

 

Generally, their clothes are slim fit, so factor that in.

Also, what's everyones opinions on white jeans? As Summer is approaching (not that you'd be able to tell in the UK) I'm contemplating getting a pair.

 

I'd probably also get a light-mid grey open cardigan (contemplating this: http://www.allsaints.com/men/knitwear/saya-cardigan/steel/mkk617-1180) to go with it. Shoes would be a pair of matte (as in, unfinished leather) chelsea boots in a dark-ish brown, as well as a belt to match the shoes.

 

So, any comments/concerns?

Bummer, if you'd posted this yesterday you could have bought a cardigan from Tretorn but the sale is over now... I'd go for a regular cardigan with buttons, not something super drapy. They come across as a bit feminine. Not sure about brown leather with white jeans, too; I usually wear my sand suede DBs or bright sneakers.

I have some other shoes I can wear, just I've fallen a bit in love with my boots. Of course, they're not exactly summer shoes, so not particularly practical.

I'd say either the 1000 Miles (I love 'em), or, if you prefer Red Wing, something along the lines of these.

I actually know a large amount of people who dress like "hipsters", and believe it or not, they can actually be very nice. Besides, I spy selvedge shorts.

Speaking of 1000 mile boots, I [bleep]ed mine up pretty bad at the foam party at some random club. Basically added a few years of wear and tear in just that one night. The soles are all roughed up and lost a lot of that nice brown color.

Any comments on what I could do to improve the outfit?

Kinda looks weird with your belt half showing, probably should be under your shirt if it's not going to be tucked in. I don't really like the colour and shirt print with those jeans, maybe if they were dark jeans, but not white. The jeans looks a bit more formal, so I'd be inclined to wear a shirt with them. But that's me, so I probably wouldn't listen to that tbh.

The belt thing was accidental - the t-shirt, as you may be able to see, would just cover up my belt, so it must have bunched up when I was putting it on.

 

Fair points to the rest, just trying to gauge opinions really.

a) Cardigan inspiration: Make sure it fits, unlike Terron's in the third picture (too long at the sleeves, general slouchy feel compared to the one his buddy on the left is wearing). Also, make sure it's close to your neck; that lighter style of cardigans is cool too.

b) Cuff your jeans.

c) Avoid graphic tees as much as possible; heck, I don't wear any visible t-shirts at all. Striped tees are okay, but they're hard to pull off. Only Pesko does it well.

d) I don't like chelsea boots. I think that's just me though.
