like the topics title says, runescape has a slightly different homepage now and... its a giant add for some disney game. and apperently a book series too.

Hi everyone,

 

Some of you will notice that the main RuneScape homepage is currently displaying a Disney "Kingdom Keepers" backdrop.

 

Here's some information for you:

 

 

* Kingdom Keepers is a series of books published by Disney/Hyperion Books;

 

* The Kingdom Keepers background is not being displayed in every region so you might not see it at all;

 

* The advertising campaign will be running over the weekend and should end at the beginning of next week;

 

* This isn't a 'crossover'. We are not affiliated with Disney or the Kingdom Keepers series, and we won't be incorporating any Disney content into RuneScape (nor vice versa);

 

* The promotion is principally to advertise the book series. The Kingdom Keepers site does contain a promotional tie-in web game but it is not an MMORPG.

 

 

We've noticed quite a few different threads talking about this. We have no problem with you discussing this advertising campaign on our forums, but we would prefer it if all the discussion were kept to this thread only, please.

 

This will help us assess our community's opinion about the ads (since it's more efficient for us to read one long thread than find lots of shorter ones) and it will also help to keep the forums clutter-free.

But if tip.it advertises anything even remotely resembling a game, Jagex removes us from the list of allowed sites and stops providing us with custom content, not that I've seen any yet.

It's not on the browser or game app here in ireland. Guess it might just be for americans.

Adblock Plus makes it just look blank in the background. Instead of the Dungeons of Daemonheim picture, it's nothing but black. :thumbup:

I'm so glad I lost hope in Jagex a long time ago, because if I'd still have been playing this game this advertisement would have led me to quit. You know Jagex is going downhill when their whole mainpage turns into an advertisement for a kiddy game and book.

Disney would probably not want to advertise Runescape because it has drinking and killing in it, and you know how good and wholesome Disney has been since its National Socialist years. ;)

It is amusing to argue with 12 year olds though. :)

 

Yesterday one asked me if I played RuneScape all the time because I was level 137 and he was 95. This eventually led to "well I am better than you at life". That made my day.

At first, I thought it was advertising the new Kingdom Hearts game, lulz.
