RuneFest Tickets Sold Out & Venue Location

Featured Replies

Heh, I bet some people are more than willing to 'Merchant' the tickets irl now, considering they are getting refunded

The name on the ticket probably has to match the name on the ID

What about the ingame freebie thing?

I hope not as I'm giving my ticket to a friend

It usually takes me a minimum of 10 hours to make a picture that I'm happy with :P But I think I will try to whip something out....

The thing I find most offensive is that this doesn't bring the most committed players, it brings the RICHEST players, which doesn't seem like the sort of thing Jagex should be doing given their preference for equality.

Not to nurst your bubble, but...

If you think that being rich is necessary to pay 75 pounds for what will probably be an epic event, you're wrong. I'd have paid that in an heartbeat if I didn't have to fly there. Many, many people would have. When they're going to ask a grand, you'll be right to mention wealth.

If the price had been nothing from the start, it would have been sold out in a matter of minutes, mostly from people not going anyway.

Well if you live anywhere other than England, it does target rich players. It would have cost me over $2000 in travel fees to attend the event.

Great post

Is there anyone prepared to take pics of the event- i am stopping in a hostel and do not wish to risk my equipment getting stolen while i am asleep.

Take a couple of them, doubt anyone would steal them... :shades:

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

I haven't decided yet if i'm just going to take pictures on my phone and mini digicam or to take my proper DSLR. My SLR takes much much better quality pictures despite having less megapixels (which are really just a marketing ploy) but it bulky and won't fit in my pocket. It will be fine around my neck for RuneFest but I don't wanna carry it around London with me in the evening, that's the dilemma.

I will definitely be taking pictures though, Sluggy. I plan to "live tweet" from Runefest provided a) there is a mobile signal or wifi connection, and b) I remember.

If I have a signal (the venue is underground) I will also be able to upload images to twitter direct from my phone. Follow me @Mercifull but no guarantee I will actually be able to post anything.

Wow, that is typical Jagex.

Yes, the refunding the £75 is a GREAT gesture, kudos to them for paying off that huge money (with every single sold ticket, its got to be a fairly hefty sum).

But it's typical, I REALLY wanted to go, but as a full time student, £75 is right now quite a bit what with everything I have to pay for, like rent, food, electric etc etc.

Now I find out, from nowhere, that I infact COULD of gone afterall. Huge shame really.

EDIT: Just saw the date that this was posted..shows how well Jagex advertise to their average player hey.

Someone's tasting sour grapes about not going to Runefest.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Captain obvious!

Let's be honest. If Jagex gave the tickets for free at the beginning it would have sold out within minutes, mostly from people who have no real intention of actually going.

I will be video recording runefest and posting it on my YouTube when I get home from London. :P

Agreed.

Thats true. Would of been fine if they would of given a more appropriate price (Well, pretty sure they had their reasons for £75 but doesn't change the fact ALOT of players thought £75 was outrageous), and then removed it, as more people wanting to go but without alot of money could of had the oppurtunity to buy.

OR, as most free events where common sense is applied, they could of required a DEPOSIT,which you get back upon attending the event. That way no-one who had no intention of going would snap up tickets :)

Although, if what they say is right and they didn't plan to host it for free all along, then of course this is useless rambling :) Though that seems a very weird change if it wasn't planned out beforehand, EVEN for jagex.

Going to leave them in a horrid position if they continue to do this next year. If they charge for it - people will expect them to refund it and thus buy tickets expecting that money back. Or if they just straight out give them out for free then they'll be gone straight away and a lot of people who have no intentions of going will get them, either to sell them later on or to get a free item.

I think they shoud still charge next time and then if anyone is foolish enough to buy a ticket expecting a refund then serves them right when they don't

This is a fail. From Jagex's side. You should really not be giving out tickets for free, when you have first charged for them. And then to inform so lately about it...I'm sure that they have made a lot of players irritated because of this. Even though I don't care much about RuneFest and won't go myself, I think that this is honestly a very bad move from Jagex's side.

With the leak on the old Runefest website saying it was going to be at the Olympia it seems more likely that there was a change in the focus of the event to something on a smaller scale. This enabled Jagex to refund the ticket cost. I do not believe that this was the intention from the start. Players get irritated at anything Jagex do.

A sign that they mess up at almost anything they do. I hate to admit it too, but it is quickly becoming more and more apparant. Just hope that they fix that real sharpish and get back to how they used to be :(
