ZS or SS for waterfiend task?

Featured Replies

I got 233 waterfiends for slayer, and I'm looking to find out if it's better to use a zammy spear or sara sword.

I'd rather not use a zs because if I remember correctly using crush gives shared exp. Although if it is considerably faster I'm willing to use it.

Both weapons are great, but in my opinion, I think zspear is superior. Also zspear will give you shared exp and ss will give you str exp when attacking with crush.

they are essentially the same, i believe.

the SS gives slightly more kills/hr i believe, however, the ZS is more usefull for more things, and also cheaper, so I'd say it's a lot more worth the buy.

Qeltar did a test that showed that the SS is superior by a small margin.

Zammy spear is a lot more useful overall. In my experience zammy spear is a lot faster.

At highest levels/highest bonuses, SS is slightly better(~2-3%), but at lower levels/lower boosts, ZS is better. I've actually tested this, by the way.

I've done tasks with them both and I can say with my stats that the SS is better. Strength boost really makes up for the marginal loss in crush bonus. :)

Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.

Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D

they are both very close to each other

but sara sword gives a small advantage over the z spear in kills per hour

This. It really depends on what kind of exp you want and how much you're willing to pay. It's worth noting that ZS has more utility, especially if you don't have a chaotic rapier.

and cost as well, is ss still 9m? cause i know zs is 5.5 atm, so if you buy zs you get 3.5 to muck around with, but ss you've got no cash to muck around with. It's your choice really.

If you're going to be training str at all (And don't have any chaotic weaponry) buy an ss, but then once you're maxed str (Or get a chaotic weapon) then you should sell it and replace it with a zs.

SS is better, but ZS does great for other stuff (dragons, corp) which is why alot of people recommend it. It sounds like you don't like shared xp, so go with the SS.

I would use verac's set it can ignore their def

Wouldn't that be a very bad idea considering it's negative mage bonus and the fact that waterfiends don't attack with melee...at all?

Dj was making a reference about the other topic involving Zspear. I'd go with spear personally as it can be used for other monsters such as dragons and it is cheaper than SS.

Actually the veracs flail is a pretty decent and cheap weapon for waterfiends lol
