It's also a seasonal event with a pretty big time window to complete. I see no reason for Jagex to encourage no-lifers to camp these in order to speed toward a 200m xp goal even faster. Be grateful and take it as a bonus event with decent, useable rewards.

That's a very nice bonus, particularly if they continue to allow it to be used for non-combat mage training.

According to the mod quote above, you will get the same amount of xp anyways. Faster xp makes the gloves wear out faster.
