A multi-way dungeon that is pvp?

Staking got its own thread so I think this important dungeon deserves one as well.

 

The new reverent dungeon is going to multi-way combat as well as a pvp zone, this means lootshare will be available, now this raises an interesting question. When someone in a clan pking there receives a high value such as a statue or pvp weapon there will be a high incentive to kill them, due to either them now risking their claws/ags/etc or the chance to grab their loot for yourself. We can safely assume for the first few days that large clans will be running this sort of dungeon and will likely to have a cs/ls option active.

Will clans be able to cover all the worlds forever, or at least teams of 2-3 people constantly ruining it for soloers, this may be offset by people lsing not being able to trust each other and it just turns into a w18 wildy volcano situation with just darkbow rushers and the occasional organismed large clan (big enough to survive the constant 1 itemers and rushers) allowing for single players to kill reverents?

 

Another interesting question I have that effects me mostly, is what will happen with 1.5k total worlds, and will the reverents be able to attack every combat regardless of the level range of the dungeon?

If 1.5k total worlds will still apply then I at 37+12 combat will pretty much be unattackable by anyone due to virtually 0 pures having that total level at my combat,this seems a little unbalanced if I say so myself (also applies to nearly all wilderness resources, will skillers with 1.5k total be able to gain a huge advantage?) and if the rev level limits still apply I will be able to farm the lowish level revs with my titan :shades:.

 

I think there is enough discussion value to ensure that this thread doesn't just get a few flames then get merged into a huge failtopic which no one can find anything in.

Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod!

Where did it say the new dungeon is multi? I must have missed that. If that's true, very disappointing. Not even a chance for anyone who doesn't want to team up with a bunch of PKers which, as you pointed out, is not the safest thing to do. PKers are notorious for being untrustworthy backstabbers (not all of them, but a very high proportion). What a fun dungeon that will be.

I would like to know what level range the dungeon will be, or if there is not set level range.

 

I would also love to know whether anyone will be able to attack a revenent regardless of it's level. If so, i'm going to be 1 iteming me a few imps :)

dungeon will probably be like edge dungeon, with the chaos druids. or else another resource dungeon.

 

the revs combat system will therefore work as it does now from what im guessing

 

if anybody's a pmod and feels like leaking the pmod thread , that'll be awesome lol :)

I'm hoping the dungeon is vast, far bigger than any yet in runescape and that entry is through one portal, that randomly picks one of say 16 portals inside to teleport to. Obviously, my idea would be the portals inside would act as a random teleport to one of its other portals in there with an exit pad near each one... That would make evasion of betrayers in there slightly easier if you can hold of the barrages til you get to a portal. Good idea? Any flaws?

The dungeon is going to be a very popular place for pking clans.

Kill anyone that goes in there, and while there is no one to kill, you can just kill revenants for the chance of statuettes and pvp gear.

I'm personally going to go there from time to time, and whenever I see a white dot, tele just to be safe >_>

Not much discussion value if you want to discuss the possibilities a level 49 pure might have on 1.5k servers. I too, must have missed jagex stating that the dungeon would be multy, which i actually very much doubt. If a dungeon like that isn't multy, it will be very good for both MH-ers and pkers.

Well, OP has stated ingame that he only 'hopes' that it's going to be multicombat, not that it's confirmed.

 

It'll be interesting to see how the revenant cave will work though, as it would depend upon the spawn rates, difficulty of the revenants, and the frequency of drops to be sure that it's worthy of camping.

 

Oh, and a Yak should be great there, you could threeitem with a yak to bank loot :D

The way I pictured it, the dungeon's going to be pretty huge, with single- and multi-combat areas.

 

Like others, I never got why Jagex are keeping statuettes. They've got fixed GP values, so convert then discontinue them.

Do you think the low level revenants will drop worthy items? Jagex could either base drops on the usual higher combat level monster drops much better items, or base it on the difference between the level of the killer and killee. However, I would think that the only ones worth killing will be knights and dragons. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

They could always just keep the NPC that converts the statuettes, but remove the sources and make them untradeable. The same NPC could also be the one who sits at the entrance to the revenant dungeon and explains the dangers and whatnot.

I think there are a few good possible scenarios for this dungeon:

 

1. Have half of it as multi and the other half one way

2. Have a medium levelled dungeoneering requirement to access it, a lot of pkers these days still don't have very high dunge)

3. Make the whole thing one way combat, that can be interrupted by players

 

On the note of drops, the way I see it is that PVP gear and statuettes will be like armour/weapon drops at other bosses and brawlers will be like effigies. This would mean that there should at least be one area of it that is single way combat otherwise people could just ls brawlers. As good as it would be it does seem a little OP'ed, imagine lootsharing effigies from Nex/TD's.

Those of you afraid of being backstabbed, join a clan. A real, proper clan, not just some random chat channel. You'll find that they likely won't backstab you unless you personally do something stupid.

 

Those of you who feel like soloing, good luck but there's no reason why it has to be single for you to solo an npc that's the strength of a revenant. Are you afraid of the added danger of multicombat? This is a mmorpg, it's meant to be played with other people such as friends and your clan. Bring them with you for revenants just as you would for a GWD boss.

 

I can't imagine that brawlers/effigies would be common drops so I really don't see the problem with lootsharing them.

 

And finally, Jagex, thank you for finally getting around to putting something worth going to in the wilderness, besides clues, that's actually IN the wilderness. That's been overdue since the chaos elemental became outdated. :)
