Johannas
I've never considered myself a gambler, i've always thought it's a stupid waste of money. But i have recently started doing some accumulators in my local betting shop. I never spend more than £1 per week on betting the outcome of weekend football - so in my opinion, it's ok because i have boundaries. I see it as more of a bit of fun than anything else.I also play poker occasionally with some friends, but it would always be played on the basis that everyone puts in a few quid before the game and then winner takes all. I've also played video game tournaments with some friends on a similar basis. Some people in the local shop though place serious money on horses/greyhounds which is something i could never do. Too risky!! Are you old enough to gamble? Do you ever place any bets? If so, what on? How often do you risk money? What's the most you've ever won/lost? Is it a hobby/game or are you addicted? Do you do the lottery? Interesting to see if any other Tipiters do this (I understand this is a G - rated forum and in no way am i endorsing gambling. I think it's a topic we can all be mature about.) Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!

Sometimes I'll place a bet on something trivial. Not often or alot however. How often do you risk money? Not very often. What's the most you've ever won/lost? OldJoe
Haha, funny forum that you need to 'apologize' (in lack of other words) for this topic. I do it from time to time. Playing poker with some mates and some drinks and you bet a fiver each or so, makes it a bit more fun. Might play 10 or so on a football match, don't really like to loose money, so that's why i only bet small amounts. I wonder what the odds for Newcastle 5-0 over Sunderland was lol. Ginger_Warrior
20, so yes. In betting terms, only put 50p on a match score en route to the pub once. My housemate did an accumulator for ridiculous odds (like, 50p would earn £4k) every week, and he lost everytime. I don't buy a lottery ticket, the only other time I gamble is on a poker night with friends. And that's usually because I win, about £35 in one night staking £7. It's like they've never heard of a fake tell. Thank you. I don't gamble, not because I'm under but I don't real feel a need to. I'm not interested in sports or racing, so the two major gambling hotspots are gone. The only time I would gamble is in cards, but only in low amounts. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." I'm one of those people who justdoesn't trust his luck. How often do you risk money? Not that much. I made a few wagers in a family game. Spent a total of $5.00 USD. What's the most you've ever won/lost? Can't remember. Is it a hobby/game or are you addicted? No. I have no addictions whatsoever. Skull
I'm old enough, but I don't. I've never been lucky and I don't have enough money to waste any. I play some poker here and there, but never for much. Usually it's food or sometimes we all throw in a couple bucks and the winner gets it. My grandfather used to buy us scratch tickets for us to scratch and would give us whatever we won, so I won like $20 or something at the most, but that wasn't really gambling. I don't see the interest in gambling to be honest, so I don't plan on starting. [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp
mcneilp
I'll put a line on every once in a while for the football, only ever for a couple of pounds or whatever so it's nothing major. I've been to a casino once, put £15 aside to gamble with, fully expecting to lose it but walked away with around £50 after playing some Blackjack and Roulette which was pretty cool. I play poker sometimes with friends over drinks but thats more for a laugh than anything as no real money changes hands. I know a couple of people who gamble too much, spending a big part of their wage in the bookies putting money on the horse racing and weekend football. Sometimes I'll see them and they're too skint to come out for a drink or whatever then next month when they've got lucky they're out on the town splashing their cash. It's not something I could get into to the same extent as they do as they're either strapped for cash or minted after a win, there's no middle ground really and it's a slippery slope. Diesel
My family has never had any trouble with drugs or alcohol, but gambling has been a SERIOUS issue. I always try to be aware of this fact whenever I'm somewhere that gambling is taking place. Since I'm only 19, I cannot go to casinos or any place like that, but poker tournaments at friends' houses (mostly online though), March Madness brackets in the Spring, and random contests are my gambles of choice. I've won and lost quite a bit of real money in poker tournaments with my friends, but I've never played with real money online. There was a point where I'd play online poker for 4-5 hours a day using fake money, but I shook that habit quickly because I knew it was a slippery slope. My workplace has a March Madness bracket every year that I get into for $5, but that's not really a big deal. I also allow myself $20-30 to gamble with at my parish festival in the fall. Napalm
I'm 18, which is the legal age to enter casinos here. Only went once in my entire life, to play Blackjack. Started winning, got to the point where I was up $200, and then lost them all. Ended up leaving with the same money I came in, so it wasn't too bad. Other than that, I don't ussually gamble, but my family knows me for being lucky with this kind of things, so they always ask me to pick the numbers in lottery stuff and all. Overall, with that, I've won arround $1000.
Guest Rob
I'm too young to gamble. But I worked at a convenience store over the summer, and we sold lottery tickets. It was insane how much some people would spend on them. I remember a woman coming in with about $11000 worth of tickets once.

stevepole
I find gambling fun, but I don't do it often. I played a little while I was in Vegas a couple months ago, it was pretty fun. I ended up breaking even, which was all I wanted to do. Sometimes I'll bet people random wagers on trivial facts or small competitions, things of that nature. Most times I bet alcohol like a 6 pack or a shot at a bar. Money wise I probably never go higher then $5 on personal bets.
tripsis
I'm not old enough to gamble in casinos (I'm only 20), but I would not gamble if given the opportunity. I have no interest in it, would get no pleasure out of it and imo it's pretty silly to risk your money like that :P I can understand it in very, very little amounts just to have a good time or amuse yourself, but you have to be very strict about those limits. People can get crazy addicted to gambling and you can't let yourself get drawn in. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Arcantica
My tribe owns a pretty successful casino here in Minnesota. One of the states that only allows Casinos on Native American reservations. So we do pretty good, I don't really gotta work for a living lol. Gambling is pretty fun though like anything that can become habit forming, you just gotta be careful and not get hooked. By law we have to supply gambling addiction resources in our casino. I like to sit down and play some poker or some slots, but I'm not going to go blow my whole check like some of these people do who get hooked. Sometimes I like to just go sit on penny machines and just kill some time. I'd rather go to the casino and play some poker or machines, than buy lottery tickets and scratch offs. 2001-2006 the fourth and last legit 123 on classic123 classic/137 rs2 Native American Pride

Nadril
It can be kind of fun. I've been to the casino two or three times. The first two times I ended up making a bit of money, the last time I lost like $60 so I'm pretty much even overall. My grandparents are big gamblers. Granted they mostly do it as just a way to get out of the house and have fun, not as a way to make money or anything. They'll go to the casino with a few hundred dollars and just play slots. Sometimes they'll make money, sometimes they'll lose it. Obviously in the long run chances are the casino is going to be the one winning the money but they think it's worth it because they have fun with it. So yeah I'm not a huge gambler but I'll do it rarely, mostly when I'm with my grandparents or something.

Arcantica
^ I wish it was mystic lake lol. I got a uncle and couple cousins from there. You know each member of that tribe gets 65 thousand dollars a month atm. No joke. It used to be 80 thousand a month a few years ago. So they get about a mil a year or so depending on casino profits at the time. You have to be 18 to start getting your monthly payments, but from the time your born up until you turn 18, your monthly payments get put into the bank for you, so when you turn 18 your set. Our casino is Treasure Island. So not as extravagant as Mystic Lake, but we do pretty good. My dad's tribe up in Cass Lake, has 3 casinos, but they're lucky if they get a 200 dollar Christmas bonus a year lol. It's all about location, the closer you are to a major metropolitan area, the better off your casinos are. So all them tribes up north out in the woods barley make it, but they make enough to cover stuff the community needs like hospitals, and schools and such. People are lobbying for state owed casinos now in Minnesota though, so hopefully people bank away for the future and stop spending their money foolishly. Native owned casinos have always been the target of political debate here. 2001-2006 the fourth and last legit 123 on classic123 classic/137 rs2 Native American Pride
