Are there any tools that Keyers here use to aid themselves with during a floor?

 

Any good guides for keyers/people learning to key?

 

Don't want to be a 100+ DG leveled player who can't key...

I use this zoomed out a bit so it'll fit half the screen in windows 7 side-by-side.

 

I mainly use it for the start of dg's where if several key doors are discovered at the start I can get a bit overwhelmed until specific paths are forged in the dungeon.

 

It's drag & drop so it's extremely fast to use.

Edit: whoa, Vex, I missed that when you posted it apparently, but that is the first key program I've seen that's worth using. The fact that it doesn't need to be precisely clicked every time you open a door means I can just go "Oh hey X door is that way" and throw the key there, and then when I'm staring at my map wondering what that door over that way is it'll be there. Bookmark'd.

The hell are you talking about. Ok, I'd like to see you click twice every 3 seconds for 6 hours straight thanks, in addition to the normal clicking

And if youre gonna flash anything it makes more sense to flash soulsplit

Unless you can do turm flash perfectly lossless the loss in prayer is quite significant

And I'd still probably get zerker from you lolol. Potmaking is more important.

I flash turm every time I fight anything unless I'm also managing my inventory or something. It's REALLY not that hard. Perhaps you suck at it?

 

Edit to your edit: Potmaking and prayer flashing aren't mutually exclusive, and I put turm and ss on quickpray so I can flash both.

I flash turm every time I fight anything unless I'm also managing my inventory or something. It's REALLY not that hard. Perhaps you suck at it?

 

It's not a matter of whether or not it's hard, it's a matter of not being such an efficiency [bleep] that I'm not willing to do it. I would rather save my fingers and my energy and my endurance than have a floor that's 30 seconds faster.

It's already been established that SS and turm activate at different times so you can't flash both without significant loss

 

But yeah, I really don't care about that increase in DPS. Call me lazy, I just don't want arthritis when I'm 30

I'm going to go ahead and guess that you never get any exercise at all if you feel like keeping a clicking rhythm while you fight is strenuous activity.

 

Edit: they don't. I've tested this a lot and definitely hit over my non-turm max when I losslessly flash both. I don't know who started that rumor, but it's simply not true. Try it.

I'd rather much have TV or AIM or gchat in the background when I play. it makes long sessions so much more bearable. i don't understand how someone can sit there clicking at a screen every 3 seconds. <-- this is also why i have fail skilling levels

This isn't fishing training we're talking about. This is dungeoneering. I know keyers don't sit there watching TV while they key, so it seems kind of disrespectful to just afk while they do all the work. If you don't want to be invested in finishing the dungeon, go do something else.

getting zerker doesn't mean anything

it mostly means you just spend most time doing gds instead of running doors

Okay, I can see where both of you guys are coming from, but the solution lies somewhere in the middle. It's not really realistic to flash turmoil constantly throughout an entire floor for multiple floors. On the other hand, I definitely want people to be flashing piety/turm as much as possible and when necessity permits. It really does make GDs go by that much faster when everyone is flashing piety/turm (and it's how Tui consistently takes berserker while keying sub-25 minute floors <_< ).

 

It's harder, yeah, and I don't expect people to do it constantly, but I do prefer people to do it, at least on monsters with particularly high defense.

On noteworthy monsters I don't flash because it's better to get the full boost anyway

really flashing is one of the worst things there is.. People were complaining about how "click-click-click" old features (such as bones offering etc) were, and how much it would create RSI.. Well the difference is that with bones burrying you could create your own tempo, which really helps turn down RSI creation.. When you have to go through such a repeated thing as flashing a prayer (which has to be precise in 0.6 seconds) it's just asking for troubles at a later age. I already have a mild form of RSI (can't do things such as hunter or firemaking more than 10 minutes before I have to stop) and I rather not increase this.

Yeah, I tend to flash turm only on melee-resistant monsters... should probably start doing it more on all gds though.

I don't think he meant that literally. I'm 99% positive he's never watched TV (or anything similar) while dungeoneering with me. What I meant by 'neither of you are wrong' is that neither of you are entirely right. Like I said before, the answer is somewhere in the middle.
