L4D isn't exactly "scarey", it won't make you jump like a girl. It keeps you on your toes, though. Say if you saw a spy in TF2 and you never managed to get him, you'd be constantly checking your back to make sure he's not there, basicly the same thing in L4D, you never knew what's round the corner, as well as hoping you don't get a tank or witch in a awkward situation.

Man, after reading all the posts I feel as if I'm the luckiest guy here.

Majority of the time during online gameplay, it is always my teamates who startle the witch or getting chased by the tank while I just stand in the background shooting the creature while my teamate is on the floor yelling for help. Then again, it could be because I'm slow as hell..

Anyone know if the AI Director is actually directly involved in the game, or is he just the shadowy figure controlling everything? It actually sounds kind of like some futuristic horror movie where the action is real and controlled by some computer to bring out the greatest level of immersion and whatever from the 'Actors'.

Then again, it could just all be a metaphor for something.

I think the AI director is just the AI program that Valve uses to decide where zombies will spawn, how many, etc. I don't think it's an actual character.

You do get shocks if you're suddenly pounced by a Hunter, especially if you didn't see him.The difference between L4D and TF2 is that if you kill the spies you know you're safe, you never know when a Horde comes until the music plays.

I got a witch by watching her (light off) and turning myself away for a minute.Apparently, staring startles her.Sadly,I'm always the Tank lurer.Everytime a Tank spawns it targets me.The only time it killed me though, was when I was caught between it and the Horde.

This game is getting more and more on my nerves.

I like it but finding a game just takes for ever its putting me off the game and I cant see myself buying it anymore.

Plus everytime I get in the first safe room and it loads the next part of the demo, I lag with it freezing every 5 seconds making it impossible to play. No idea why.

God. Everyone I've played with on expert today has sucked balls. I'm always left standing for about ten minutes trying to save their sorry [wagon].

Seriously, one guy didn't know what a witch was (he said he'd played for weeks, of course), so he shot her and got raped, then the horde came and killed my other two friendlies. I survived, until a tank came.

[bleep]ing A.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Never really had those problems (though I belive a new patch on the PC version has caused some problems, not played L4D for a day or two, trying not to over-play it).

Try opening the devolper console and type "openserverbrowser" without the quotation marks, then go to the custom tab and you'll get a list. Not all servers support joining from the server browser, but it shouldn't be hard to find one.

@ The loading problems, could be your PC, I don't have those problems either :\

One problem I do have though, is after a load my character will walk jerky (well, not my character, my screen, it's like I'm lagging, but I'm not) It gets abit annoying but it goes away. Doesn't harm my gameplay, but I hope it gets fixed atleast.

Anyone know if there's a way to host the game locally without having to spend 10 minutes in the Lobby searching for a friggin' dedicated server? It's [bleep]' tedious.

Choosing the "host Locally" option might be a good idea. :)

My 360 always freezes whenever a vote to restart the campaign has been agreed at the loading page.

It always freezes for a bit.

Started the game as soon as I got up and decrypted and updated L4D, had a game of Death Toll on Advanced, and honestly, it was god damn HARD. The finale.. Never managed to do it, the tank would always ruin our day, and the sheer amount of hordes that come in such a small space of time is insane.

It'll be awhile before I try expert, a finale on expert will be EXTREMELY hard, I mean, the average person will probally NEVER do it.

One thing it is though, is awesome, awesome fun. Gonna try Dead Air next I think, after a food break.

It seems as if everyone on the 360 playing online in "Versus Mode" is only using the "No Mercy" campaign, well this could most likely be that everyone is familiar to it thanks to the demo. My friend is awesome, he bought the game on 17th and had completed the whole game and unlocked 3/5 of every achievements.

Here's a few tips when playing:

One thing to note is that unlike the demo, the whole map is scattered with molotovs and pipe bombs so you don't have to worry when using them, just use it and you'll walk up to another one within 20 seconds. And please do not neglect the propane and gas tanks, they are lonely.

Boomer: Zombie version of a suicide bomber

Ability charger: Slowest

Advised method of attack: Stealth and shock. Sneak up/be a spy to get close to the survivors then go crazy and reveal yourself.

Your job is simple, get as close to the survivors as possible, spray your vomit and then just claw til you die. You are a walking bomb and you should play that way, you should expect death upon vommitting. If spotted from a reasonable distance, run away in a zig-zag manner as you will die in one shot. If spotted from a near distance, try to get as close to the humans as possible.

Hunter: It's like a virus that spreads

Ability charger: Fastest

Advised method of attack: Stealth

The Hunter is perfect for hiding in dark rooms and slowly ripping the team of 4 one by one. Strategy is simple, hide and wait til the team goes past you and strike. Your charger is the fastest so you shouldn't worry about recharging. If spotted by all 4 members, you can either try to escape or spam your ability among them and do as much damage as possible before dying. Never stay still unless awaiting spawn, best used when victim is horded by the horde.

Smoker: Zombie version of a Sniper

Ability charger: Average

Advised method of attack: Stealth, just like a sniper.

You should always try your best to head for the roofs when in ghost mode to find a clear view of where your victims will go to. Once you see someone, just launch your tongue and hold the button. 75% of the time the survivors would just melee it and you can wait for the charger for another ambush. If spotted, do not run simply just back up until the roof blocks your victims from seeing you. If there are no roofs, attack from far places with obstacles to hinder your victims' vision.

Tank: A Zombie bulldozer

Ability charger: Average

Avised method of attack: Go crazy

You're like a suicide bomber only tougher to be killed and cannot hide. There isn't much strategy to this, you just run towards your victims using the fastest route and mash your attack button in hopes of knocking all 4 of them down, one knock and the humans fly back. You're guaranteed to be spotted so do not bother about hiding. There is a risky technique with the secondary attack, you climb up a roof and use it. You'll be hurling huge chunks of boulders down to the floor and it will take awhile for you to be killed. Risky part is that you might not get the target on time before you loose control of it.

Survivors: Human version of zombies

Ability charger: None

Advised method of attack: Stay together

You have one main goal and that's to make it to the safehouse, you should always be making a mad dash to the safehouse at any stage. The only other rule that should be important is to stay together as there is no chance of surviving with 2 or less people. There is an exception however, when a member gets left behind either by attack or bad controlling. In this case you have a choice, either everyone go back or leave him there. Reason being that if a few go back while the remaining continue, you are all going to die. The special zombies are walking around you, finding stealth spots and waiting for you to split up. Don't give them this chance. Also remember that melee is a good friend.

Lone Survivor:

Everyone hates to be left behind, and to make things worst a horde of zombies are coming after you. By now either your whole team has come back to help you or they have abandoned you. If the latter happens, you are screwed. There are ways however to survive the zombies. You only have one best friend and that is the limit that prevents special zombies from spawning near you. Use it to your advantage and walk in narrow places where the zombies have difficulty reaching you. You can then pick them apart one by one before it ripps you to shreads. In no way are you fighting to survive, you are guaranteed to die. You are just fighting to get your name to the top at the end of each round for pride.

Another note is that when playing as the infected, you guys are a team too. Unless you are the tank, rushing in going LEEEROOOY JJENKKKIINNSS is sure to get you killed. So work as a team and plan your attack, but don't spend too long.

That's my advice after playing the game, hopefully some of you will find it helpful.
