RuneScape Cache issue

Featured Replies

For those of you who aren't aware or haven't noticed, there's an issue for some players where the game is continually loading cache. For example when I load a new map screen it now ALWAYS loads from 0-100% every time I log off the game and then back on. Jagex is aware of the issue, and are investigating it so if you are having this issue check out the QFC below and post your information so they can hopefully fix this as fast as possible.

Post what browser you are using, and what operating system.

THANK GOD

I thought my computer was getting outdated, with those new trees etc.

Hopefully they fix it soon, because it is so annoying.

I'm having this problem, decided to go back to doing DG. Can't walk anywhere else without it taking 3+mins to load each time...

I thought it was just me! I updated java so I thought it wasn't working properly. I should have known it was just RS running funny again.

Rs crashed last night and now it's doing this.

Thanks for the heads up, I was getting destroyed while staking because of this :wall:

You mean that when runescape needs to load the new area you are walking in it takes 30 seconds instead of 5? I already got that for 2-3 weeks, thought it was just mac users.

You and me both.

Going to do my biggest stake ever later (Hopefully someone wishing to stake as high will be there). As today is my last day on RuneScape, I'm going all in. My entire bank. A shot at double or nothing... If I get double, my friends get very rich... Since I won't only be giving the winnings away; what do I need my current bank for as well. ;P.

Try this. Might work, I think.

One way around this problem if you're using a browser - such as Firefox - don't close the browser when you're done playing Runescape. Minimize it. If you've a problem with how the game eats up your system just visit another website, like google, then minimize. If you're going to play again obviously use the same tab and just hit the back button to load the game.

It's a temporary fix. Every area still has to load once when the browser is first started up, but as long as it's not closed it won't force another reload. It's like every time you shut down the browser the Jagex cache is wiped, almost as if you're always using the unsigned Java applet by default.

Best thing I can tell you guys is to post your specs like I said in my first post in that QFC so Jagex can hopefully fix this quicker. Also be aware that if you are not on an unlimited bandwidth internet plan this could possibly put you over your limit and cause insufficient charges on your internet bill.

As for BioIce, I already do that though with Firefox it eats up TONS of memory the longer it stays open and eventually lags me badly so that I'd have to close & re-open the browser.

There will be a system update in approximately 30 minutes to deal with players needing to download the Runescape cache every time they try to play.

ABOUT TIME

This was killing my dungeoneering today.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Error connecting to server.

Slightly relevant, another (recent) RuneScape-related annoyance some people have been experiencing is that RuneScape will sometimes steal complete attention of anything you type, e.g. trying to type a URL in the address bar of a new tab will appear in the RuneScape window instead. Is this exclusively a Firefox 4 problem, or are other browsers experiencing this as well?

It's the java I believe, had that issue for quite a while now. For instance, if I'm typing this and Runescape loads up to the title screen in the background, the next part of my sentence fills in the username box.

While it loads, it just completely stops me from typing anything, and also I can't scroll up or down before I click the page first.

That as well, super annoying.

  • 1 month later...

As well as having the previous mentioned issues, I have a ton of teleport lag, especially during dueling, just teleporting me from the duel lobby to the arena takes about 5 to 7 seconds, by the time it loads, I have been hit twice without selecting spells or what weapons I want to use or adjusting my strategy.... I hope they fix this soon.

People speak of killing time when it is time that slowly kills them.

It's a fine line between writing something with genuine emotional impact and turning into little idiots feeling sorry for ourselves and playing stadium rock.

My songs are my kids. Some of them stay with me, some others I have to send out, out to the war. It might sound stupid and it might even sound naive, but that's just the way it is.
