Unless something horrible has happened and Jagex broke their detection system, It appears a ton of botters got their bxp progress rolled back

Also the one guy admitted to botting and then told Jagex that they should be shut down b/c he only broke the rules a few times

Just read through all the threads listed. I feel bad for forum mods having to decipher what is being said to try and help these idiots.

Got to love the sense of entitlement and the "I'm innocent it was the masked hacker over there!" pleas everywhere. Bunch of kids with their hands caught in the cookie jar.

People like that sicken me. If you're going to cheat, sure, but be aware of the consequences and accept what happens.

Some are obvious and admit it yes, but some there's no way we actually know if they're illegitimate. And if wrongly accused, there's no winning as JaGEx does not admit mistakes and players have no sympathy.

 

I've heard the "if you're innocent you've got nothing to fear" but I can't believe that for RuneScape.

And maybe it's just me picking up on this but they seem to take a lot more pleasure in banning legitimate players (botting or not) than accounts made purely for botting... Why else would they always mention all the max skill level 138s they ban? It's sad to think the more effort you may put into this game the bigger the false target on the back of your head may become.

You are correct, but one thing to note: every fool and their cat who got rolled back and then claim they got hacked obviously botted. The hack plea is an old trick in the book.

It's not uncommon for people to be hacked and then have their accounts turned into goldfarming bots. But the chances of them all finding out that they were hacked and subsequently rolled back on the same day is quite small. I doubt that any of them are telling the truth.

Edit: The third one is hilarious. Dude says he spent 3 years getting those stats, but he was 15M total experience.

You would be surprised at how many high levels do bot, though. Especially judging by the amount of terrible excuses that people are coming up with here (Not "I didn't bot!" but "Someone else botted my account!")

Ive had this account since before member was introduced (like 7 years ago) I just hardly play/play inefficiently/spend a ton of time chatting AND quit for years, to come back for like 2 months and quit for a year

Depends on how she plays. If she uses a keyboard and mouse on a separate system, then it's fine. If she plays on an internal system to take advantage of her robotics, then it's probably botting.

 

She'd get banned for luring before botting either way, though.

My friend has been playing for 7 years and he has like 25mil total xp. :P

 

If you get caught botting, you should automatically be perm banned without any chance ever of getting your account back. Seriously, why are they complaining they only got rolled back and not banned?

It's rare for a banned F2P account to be returned rolled back. P2P is something else since they're more or less the cash cow.

 

It's essentially a two-tier punishment system. Bot once in F2P, chances are you're perm-banned. Get botting as a first offence in P2P, you're more likely to be rolled back. (And keep paying members anyway while botting it back up.) Feh.

Anecdotes from bot sites, people sharing their experience, that sort of thing.

 

Yes, you can still buy your account back - if they offer it. Those stories are relatively rare.
