The Back Room

Well Retech, I feel that personally in the ones that I've played there isn't much variation and most wars are a bit generic and there is a certain lack of political things, the only time politics are used seems to be to prove a point of some sort.

I think on the maths side its just some basic algorithms, I have quite a bit of time on my hands and I used to write war stories so I'm sure there wouldn't be much of a problem. The game will be based around specialisms and won't be too hard. It will be similar to that hegemony I was telling you about in chat but it will be different.

My survival in the hegemony would be probably based around some of my basic decisions towards the start of the game, there would be no way of knowing if I could win or not stacked against other people but I think I probably could survive. The major reason for war seems to be: "I don't like what you're saying so I'm going to attack you to prove a point" so I think thats a major factor in my survival.

The dependence my survival would be basically stacked around whether or not people chose there scientific specialities (this game is similar to the one that Stork made but a hegemony one and with no aliens or reason to impress anybody at the end) that would combat mine; people might research things that would combat me and this would leave me quite open.

Is anyone else following the US presidential campaign. I for one find the republican debate(s) to be... entertaining. Honestly it kind of seems like the republicans will nominate Romney and Perry (well if they stick with the moderate/ tea party/conservative divide) thus ensuring a reelection of Obama.

EDIT: Oh god, Cain is [bleep]ing hilarious to listen to (well the [cabbage] he says anyways).

Honestly, I can't see any of them beating Obama. Perry is too right wing for moderates, Romney is too moderate for right wingers, Cain is an idiot, Bachman is insane, and Ron Paul turns off people when he talks about legalizing heroin and letting Iran get nukes. I'm guessing Obama will lose some of the more traditionally Republican states, but I just can't see him losing.

Ron Paul turns people off when he talks about following the US Consitution and Self Determination for the Middle East.

Obama has damaged the American Healthcare System, not pulled out of Iraq, not closed Guantanmo...Not really done anything useful.

On the plus side, a vote for him is a vote for equality, cause electing people based on the colour of their skin isn't racist.

What will probably happen is what has happened in Britain:

You have a Thatcherite character (Bush) who departs from reality on a pipe dream (War on Terror), then, as a reaction to that, you have several years of a Labour Government (Obama), lead, essentially, by a charismatic twit while the Thatcherite party (Republicans) rebuild themselves.

And to counter balance the Charismatic twit, you get a Charismatic Nutjob ruling the Thatcherite Party (Republicans) who gets elected and decides to remove Human Rights.

Its all part of the rich tapestry of history...If Obama gets re-elected, barring a global catastrophy, the Republicans will be elected in 2016(I think???), and will be lead by a person that is an extremist.

If he doesn't, then it breaks the chain and something else will happen.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I want to demonstrate a point, could anybody help me?

Basically I want to demonstrate how small a number is by using scale circles stacked together, that it will be easy to see that there is one small circle with multiple large circles around it. Does anybody know how I would go about doing that?

I'm still hoping that Sarah Palin will re-emerge, Obama resigns in disgust that any portion of the American people could elect Sarah Palin, then Hillary Clinton takes the helm of the Democratic party and restores it to its former Clinton glory!

From an outside perspective, it seems to me that Republicans are generally imbeciles who have a party-wide unhealthy association with Christianity and little common sense, while Democrats are self-important, unwilling to compromise, smug, and end up shooting themselves in the foot by trying too hard to be liberal.

Obama in particular seems to have been in damage-control mode since his presidency started. A single man in a government like ours, even in the executive branch, can only go so far in opposition to his peers. Even if all the other Democrats side with him he still needs Republican backing, and in pandering to either side he has their opposites sniff in disdain and turn their backs.

I think the best thing for America would be for a dictator to take control for a year or two, tell everyone how incredibly stupid they are and that they should just [bleep]ing work together as Americans, and then reinstate Democracy. So sad that such a thing could never happen.

Politically, I'd love nothing more than to have all the political idiots be removed from the government.

I've decided that I'm never going to vote once I'm 18. And all who think they can convince me to vote can just kiss my butt.

lmao. I'm of age, and don't vote either. No shame in it really. I let the people who actually care about politics do the voting, as my vote would do nothing to help given I don't take the time, nor care to, to learn what it's all about.

That moment when Norway's got more than two parties, so there's actually possible to find one that you agree with and I know exactly who I'm going to vote for next election.

America has plenty of political parties. We have just about every political party.

Thing is, everyone's too focused on the bitter Democrat vs. Republican stuff that we never hear about and vote for anyone else. If not for that, a Communist leader could win the next election (theoretically).

When I get to vote, I'm going to be voting for a small, independent party who agrees with more of my views than the big-ticket Republican/Democrat guys will. He'll never win, but at least I'll be able to say I voted for someone I agree with on most of the issues.

This, but I ended up voting for the Democrats because I agreed with the other candidates even less (The last Ca Governor race).

That moment when I realize I only have four more spells to learn in the normal spellbook before I can learn Storm of Armadyl and I go full derp in confusion.

I didn't realize my magic lvl was actually that high (68, 66 a few hours ago but I spent most of the day grinding High Level Alchemy with mousekeys while watching Pokémon).

I logged on today to see what the prices of things were. I said [bleep] it after I checked out most of everything. The prices are so god awful, that any of the previous methods I used to use to money make are downright non profitable. I think I've finally given up on that game. lol

Just go alch:

If you turn on mousekeys you don't even have to pay attention to anything, just spam a button. It's also very great exp.

My personal favorites are air and water battlestaves, buy them at 9k alch for a few hundred in profit, including the cost of a nature rune.

Iirc slayer is still profitable, though its been awhile since I've played (I'd also look into raising your summoning to 68 and going to dks)
