Elimination of 5 f2p worlds, high-risk wilderness in themed world reshuffle

Featured Replies

As you can see from below, which was quoted from [qfc]74-75-887-64130411[/qfc], Jagex seems set to reshuffle themed worlds. Some of the highlights:

-Free worlds 4, 14, 30, 37, and 106 will be gone or become p2p, allegedly due to low usage. Right now in terms of popularity, I see 4>3, 13=14=16, 30=37=a bunch of other words, and the same for 106 and other European worlds, but whatever. There are currently 38 f2p worlds and 101 p2p, and this proposal cuts f2p to 33.

-High-risk wilderness worlds will be removed and some 'player killing' worlds will appear-no word on that.

-There will be an f2p role-playing server.

-World 60 will become an official penguin hunting world.

Hi all,

As promised, I'm back with my revised spreadsheet which now includes the most common suggestions and recommendations (see QFC: 74-75-864-64108978 for the back story!). I wanted to run this by you before I sent it over to the project manager.

Get your specs out now...(I'm not sure why the second image is small, but click it to view a proper size.)

As a reminder:

● Themed worlds are only recommendations; you aren't forced to use that world for the listed activity, nor do you have to be playing from the listed country!

● We will be removing some low popularity F2P worlds, but all member worlds will remain intact (the recommended worlds based on popularity and server speed are marked in red).

● This thread is simply in regards to the written themes, not about changing the mechanics/contents of a server!

Finally, just throwing it out there, how important are the world numbers? What do they mean to you?

Thanks in advance!

ftp is getting a rough time recently, first no high scores now losing another 5 worlds.

Peng world is long over-due glad to see them using w60, as it's so popular already.

High risk wilderness worlds were pointless as no items were kept on death anymore anyway.

Also player killing worlds sounds ominous...will it be like the old pk worlds that worked on rsc principals pk anywhere except banks etc. would introduce a new level of danger for pkers again, just so long as you get prior warning before logging into them.

A piece of glass in the sand under your feet, it cuts you deep and it makes you hate the beauty that you see.

World 4 is the server closest to me and the one I use when I keep getting stuck on the "loading 50%" messages. :(

Edit: I just thought of something. If the usage has gone down that much, does that mean there are fewer bots? I know that led to the removal of several worlds after last year's bot nuke. Perhaps the new detection system is working better than we thought.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

Skill total 2400+, kkthx

Well numbers have been low in f2p worlds the past few months, can not really blame them for shifting focus.

Good. I think we've had too many worlds for quite some time. Players have been spread to thinly between them; maybe taking away a few worlds would make the game feel more lively.

I don't think F2P should complain about losing 5 worlds, seeing as F2P worlds very rarely have more than 500 players in them.

Eh, I don't have a strong opinion. If it rebalances server populations a bit better, then that's fine.

They should make two 2400+ worlds

Good thing I quit RuneScape when EoC went live, then. It looks like Jagex is set to kill off F2P, which will ultimately be bad news. :notalk:

It'll probably surprise you how full those 2400+ worlds would become, which kind of defeats the purpose that most 2400+ers would have in mind lol

Right..because Jagex would really kill off the part of the game that converts free users to paid users....

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.

JaGEx has started to undo the F2P policies that I find most abhorrent, including the removal of the level cap in Dungeoneering, as well as plans to reinstate F2P high scores. Re-purposing worlds to meet demand is a logical step that I'd expect any company to take.

I wish JaGEx would start to include mandatory sub-200/300/400/500 level worlds, meaning that all new players (read: gold farmers, advertisers, and bots) start there.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

Gotta go get 75 total levels >.>. People that are 2400+ probably train the most of any group of players (of 2000-2100, 2100-2200 etc) and play for longer times. Still, a place to do botted slayer tasks/etc. would be nice.

I'm not sure how I feel about mandatory sub 300/400/500 worlds. It would be offputting to be forced to play the start of the game surrounded completely by bots.

I'm just kind of shocked they're not removing some members worlds. Kind of thought they should too. F2P might not have over 300+ on a lot of servers at any given time but there sure as are a heck of a lot of servers with less than 600 people on at any time out of 2000.

I imagine boss hunters wouldn't be too happy if they did that, though.

Just add instanced bosses. Prices are the lowest I've seen in years and all boss drops will soon be surpassed by Port armor so it's not as if instances would hurt bossing any more than it has been in the past few months.

Kind of feel like saying "tough shit" to that tbh, and I'm sure I'll be ferociously devoured by any fan of PVM. But I can't help but thinking that maybe a little less of the product and a little more competition will help the pricing of boss-obtained items. The best bost monsters are still instanced right now (QBD, Kiln, etc) so it's not like the high end PVM'er is getting screwed over here.

Now hold on just a minute-do you want a bunch of new players flooded with all those advertisements, looking around at each other and wondering "Why did I sign up for this again?" At least with no cap, there is the potential to run into some real, experienced people.

Agreed. I'd rather they brought back the 1000+ level world, than implement -300 level worlds.

Can't say I can complain about losing a few worlds (even if one of the ones being axed is my own). They were nearly empty as is.
