Elite desert task speculation?

That would imply logic, which we all know, Jagex are not usually known for (and sometimes, known for total lack thereof)

Here's hoping they don't have to do a a post-release patch to make it 'Kill Sunfreet (Or deploy your dom marker having already killed Sunfreet)' like they have with prior tasks where they are kind a pita but theres an easy check/way to prove it's been done previously.

Some possible tasks that I haven't seen anyone mention yet:

Easy-

Charm a snake

Relocate your player-owned house to Pollnivneach

Medium -

Fill a vial of water in Nardah fountain

Kill an aggressive Bandit

Travel to the desert using the fairy ring network

Steal from a Menaphite thug

Enter the Water Ravine Dungeon

Hard -

Speak to Senliten after fully restoring her tomb.

Mine an adamantite ore.

Receive a slayer assignment from Sumona

Elite -

Trade a jewelled diamond statuette to Simon Templeton

Don't think previous sunfreet kills should count, since for the majority of people they were pre-eoc. Not exactly fair.

Isn't post-EoC Sunfreet supposed to be even easier?

After this rebalancing, it'll probably only be doable with chaotics, though from the look of it it is quite a bit easier.

Wasn't it some kind of looming death, relentless murder-king before EoC? 80 dg requirement doesn't sound so bad.

It's still looming death and murder when it's airborne, though that's arguably the easiest part of it :P

Given the definite accuracy improvements we've got now, as well as stuff like reflect/resonance, compared to the old strategy of trying to punch-with-goliaths-until-defence-drops-to-nothing, Sunfreet looks to be far more manageable now, as long as you've got necessary gear.

I killed the Sunfreet shortly after EoC.

The problem with his is (was?) that the 500 damage limit was still imposed, meaning that heavy hitting abilities (like most 2H'ers) didn't do mean a thing. If it's still there post-update, that'd mean it'd be easier to dual wield him to death.

Furthermore, both his preparation attacks can now be nullified. Roar is undone by Freedom, while his tailswipe can be blocked with Resonance (healing for about 3500 lifepoints). With that in mind, he's best of meleed with dual-wield and a spare shield.

Sunfret now just take lots of time to kill. But with shield food is need only, if you step on fire much more frequently than once per whole phase. Think way more annoying is to get 20 pages of book in dominion tower.

In while preparing all stuff available in desert area just read about ice chomp delivery. 25 times eh, any tips ?

Set your "4" key as the hotkey for the Chimp Ice (drag it to your bar). You double tap for an ice barrage. You can abuse surge for a little bit of reduction in time.

Same route as before:

Carpet from Ape Colony to Shantay Pass

Get gaoled by Shantay (tell him your an outlaw, think it's the '1' option in both chat screens)

Deport to Port Sarim

Run to the Craft Guild Ballon, catch Ballow to Stronghold (1 mage log)

Run up to Daero

Glider to crash island

Boat across to ape atoll

This part may have been patched

In EOC, as of ~2 weeks ago, it was possible to cast ice barrage whilst still a monkey. However, the action bar didn't work, so click in invent and then freeze. Run to the King and viola. This, however, may have been patched, requiring you to do the old method of morphing back to human and casting barrage whilst standing in the grass

Here's a vid of my last ~1.5 runs (watch in 720P). Disregard the mistakes like barraging too often, it's more about the route obvs

Was averaging about 6:30 to do the run and get back to the start. So, 3-4 hours if you include bank time/stuff ups etc

Was much, much easier in the EoC than it was in oldscape (at least, for the quest one that is). Not quite as challenging as I had hoped. NOT something you want to be doing it you are DC'ing regularly though, that is for sure.

i hope this will enable permanent monkeyspeak/camelspeak like they did with the ghosts lol

Oh god yes.

Would be interested in hearing some other ideas of what the rewards might be actually. Not needing waterskins would be the best thing in the history of ever. I think we might see a daily resurrect in the Dom Tower like for the Karamja tasks too.

Free phoenix feathers, teleports to the pyramids, reduced carpet fare, and free passage through shantay's pass would be my guesses.

Ehh, teleports to the pyramids would make Sceptres obsolete, though. Shantay Pass has also been free since Diamond in the Rough

I'd wager double the teleports on a Sceptre upon recharge, free carpet rides, safe from desert heat while worn, double/triple cactus spines from patch, up to double pizzaz points in MTA, improved chance of SotG and Black Ibis.

From the BTS, we know the Amulet teleports to Nardah. So it might teleport just to there, to all desert cities, all clue scroll teleports (Nardah/Bandit Camp) or to carpet ride destinations? Unknown criteria at the moment.

Carpet is already halved when you complete Rogue Traders, so that would kind of be made obsolete I suppose.
