thejollyroger
re: Momentum- more convenient for bots as well as legitimate players. I really do hope the HTML5 switch brings better bot-busting capability. re: Brink of Extinction and Fight Cauldron: it is impossible for me to be a teenager with twitchy fingers. I don't care how easy it was for certain people, I couldn't do it, and can't do it (yet), and rather resent that Jagex has made questing so bossing-dependent lately. re: Player-run gambling: I understand probability well enough. Humans are emotional creatures, however, and it just can't be a level playing field with users directly involved. I'm glad Jagex's stance is clearer. I have no sympathy for hosts and find any claims of fair play highly dubious. Even in real life... the house always wins in the end. Moreover, the house is Jagex, not players. Players are not the ultimate hosts, Jagex is. Players are guests. That is how I see it, anyways. The guest/host relationship is a strong concept for me. If they don't like it, they are free to create their own independent game. The hosts have spoken, the guests can either be gracious to their hosts, or go home. re: other patches/updates: Diango is even more loveable now. I will probably exhaust my heartbreak pendant first before leaving the Val's stuff to him.

V O R K
just posted in recent updates: The fix is currently making its way down the inter-tubes to the servers and will be live in a few minutes. I hot-fixed the issue with seeing other players inventories in Demonheim last night so you can't currently look in other players inventories. With the next game update (don't know when that will be exactly) this will be changed so you can once again look in other players inventories, but you will not be able to see any coloured flowers they have in there. @mod rathe oh well the implented coin of balance, back to IRC/private channels. It's boring in the kindergarden. Sway all day, Butterfly flaps all the way! ✿ ♥‿♥)

Guest Smelly Paws
I'm glad they specified player-run games of chance. There's nothing wrong with gambling; people willing to take the risk should benefit from the spoils (hi duel arena). Glad to see scamming taken care of, sorry to see the gambling aspect gone. They need to implement an instant and secure gambling method. Somewhere where two players put GP into some sort of pot, the winner is decided in seconds, and the winner gets the reward. Make it fast like staking used to be. A staking option with unlimited adrenaline would be nice. Lol. There's everything wrong with gambling if it's not within the context of the game. There's no reason for gambling to be part of this type of game. If you really want to gamble why not just go to a site that has.....gambling on it? I agree that forum mods should have an opinion but if that opinion is against gaming morals in general then you should keep that opinion to yourself. Gambling addiction is a problem in general and a game of this type doesn't need to either start people in that direction or exacerbate the problem. I do not play an adventure game to gamble, I want to play a fantasy game. Inb4 posters with no responsibility for children do the usual mocking 'think of the children' routine. But gambling has pretty much always been part of RS - the duel arena is a form of gambling and always has been. Gamble rewards at BA. Rat Pits. And I'm sure theres more I'm forgetting. Heck one could even argue monster hunting and questing without a guide are forms of gambling - you are gambling your gear, resources and time against victory and/or valuable loot, even pking is a branch of gambling. There's nothing wrong with gambling being in RS at all, it's always been there. The only problem is the unregulated often RWT and scam linked player-player gambling. Yoko Kurama
Arena deathmatches for a prize are relevant to the fantasy genre and history both. Some random guy growing a flower and taking bets on the color is not. I am fairly certain that historically there have been informal methods of gambling between individuals. If we are talking about Medieval times, then the elite probably had ostentatious bets as well. Also, the point remains: the charge levied against Flowers was not that they were somehow inconsistent with the Fantasy genre, but rather that they were a particularly disruptive form of gambling with a host of other issues.
