As the lore goes:

The four factions at GWD worked together to trap Nex in the Ancient Prison which was then sealed by Guthixian's hence why Sliske needed Guthixian's (as attested to by the ghost on site) to perform a Guthixian ritual to undo the seal. (Though obviously he did not tell them that was what was being done)

Also kinda suggests deffo Guthixian involvment by the fact Sliske didn't go straight to Guthixians (who would presumably know all about the sealing and the ritual and therefore rumble him) he got Saradominists who then converted to Guthixian following their new master (Sliske) so he needed the Guthixian power to unseal it but needed a naive Guthixian who didn't have any proper teaching and therefore did not know what the symbols meant or what the ritual would do.

I can't be the only one thinking that Guthix isn't really dead? The spell that Sliske used... the form the Guthix is in now ... the edicts being removed... Could it be that Sliske and Guthix work together and that they want everybody to think that Guthix is dead? It would allow for other gods to reveal and expose themselves... maybe easier to deal with them that way than when they are hiding away from Gielinor?

Ok - Sliske working with Guthix may be to "nice" of a story - one I wouldn't like. But what if Guthix is just in some sort of slumber? What if, Sliske found out how Kharshai concealed his powers when he was still known as Koschei and used this to bring Guthix in some sort of sleep that concealed his powers? (what other link with Koschei is there, think of it?).

Ah, the nice pastime of speculating...

In a word: No.

1) Elder Artefacts are known as God Slayers - they kill gods, no ifs ands or buts. Guthix got attacked with on.

2) Guthix WANTED to die - he specifically revealed he wanted the world to be free of Gods and his being there only made it impossible so dying was the best thing.

3) Playing dead to help 'deal with' the Gods is stupid. His life energy kept up the edicts which kept the Gods out - sure some were trying to find ways around them but for the most part it worked for many many thousands of years and if one did get through they'd be a solo threat to deal with and probably weakened due to using power to stop the Edicts flinging them out. With the Guthix dead the edicts fall and they can all come at once at full power - that'd be a poor strategy.

4) We saw the corpses of Skagaroth - it took the same stone form.

5) How is Sliske even meant to of concocted this plan with Guthix? He couldn't get past the first wave of automaton guards until you killed them and even then stalking everybody through he didn't manage to break the final seal until he had a long time undisturbed due to you being busy battling.

6) That aside the place had only just been dug up and the doors would not open until you touched them.

With all the facts we have that seems like a twist too far. It would require some explaination for Sliske to get in to a long forgotten buried temple with doors that would not open until a Guthix Choosen one touched them, then a secondary hidden door that again was only openable by a Guthixian choosen one. Then get past a bunch of automatons that were activated due to mahjaratt presence then get through to the 'final' room where Cres was on guard with hundreds of automatons. Before finally managing to break a complex seal to reach the Guthix chamber and talk to him. And this is before we consider Elder Weapons kill gods, so they'd have to be some twist there of how Sliske got around that, and why even bother getting the staff from the Dragonkin and fixing it just for that and then they'd have to be a twist in which everything Guthix wanted and stood for was an outright lie and then they'd have to be a twist to cover how he looks exactly like a dead god should look. Plus of course we must ask if he isn't dead why would he give his remaining power to us to use? It'd just weaken him.

Thought, if Guthix really did give us his remaining power, and there was no blood drawn with his death (linking back to Zaros's blood turning Zamorak into a god, Skargoth for Guthix) then perhaps Sliske really won't/hasn't ascend/ascended to godhood after all.

Your item 4): when did we see the corpse of Skagaroth?

When we visited Guthix's memories right at the end - impossible to miss.

Do you seriously want that or are you just looking for something to blame Jagex for?

Some game use global chat as global and it is not full of spam.

Why real global chat is good:

- more ppl will read new players questions

- more ppl to talk

- more ppl will write to player when he reach lvl 99 (now 99 announcement are pointless)

You shouldn't be afraid of globla chat, runescape society isn't only trolls and kids. Even if they are the loudest.

But jagex could of course add real global chat and local chat or even trade chat. Problem solved.

That sounds like a really good reason to be afraid of global chat, actually.

That new interface tells me I'm gonna be spending a lot of time updating DGSweeper..........

But with any luck the new engine will offer some api output which would make things easier!

The thing is most games with global chat have relatively small servers (like 200 or so ppl). Runescape servers can have 2000 people on at the same time and most run at least 500 for the majority of the day. It'd just be so flooded you wouldn't be able to actually talk with it.

But you still haven't said what is different about your version of global chat from a larger public radius???

It can't be world-global as there are just too many PEOPLE. Across a world of upwards of 2k players online at once being possible... That doesn't work. And if it's larger public chat radius that is fine for some areas.

Ignore list wouldn't be large enough, and yes I could disable it.. but I don't see the value add.

I do agree that larger public chat area would be nice, and having jagex-hosted equivalents of friends channels (like a jagex approved chat dictionary?) would be great. Allowing us to join more than 1 friends channel and more than one clan chat might be nice.

But I don't believe a true global chat would work. So what do YOU mean? and how is it any different from a larger public? And how will it solve the issue of message count as it is now (we can only keep 200 total messages, and spam in game or public whether shown or not still removes messages from our wanted chats. I am hoping this interface fixes it but I am doubtful..)

Global chat doesn't make sense in the context of RS where we have hundreds of people per world, and you can switch worlds on a whim.

Increased public distance would be nice, so that we can see people's chat from slightly farther away.. And more friends chat channels would be great.

In fact, I forsee global chat going this way:

Older players disable global due to spam

New players will keep asking questions in global, but no one answers.

New players don't understand why no one listens

New players do not learn of other channels available.

This would not help to have a few hundred people's chat going everywhere. And you know people would just spam it for advertisements anyways....

At least we can disable it, but jagex's current system is that you can only hold 200 messages, and even if you 'hide' public, filter game, etc it still counts against your message history (since you can arbitrarily change the settings) and that means that you are receiving the messages whether you want them or not. This has a huge impact against friends, pms, clan chat, in that your chat log fills up too fast and deletes old stuff you CARE about but keeps new stuff you want to ignore.

And if it's an opt-in global channel... how is that *any* different from a friends chat named "global", and owned by jagex instead of a player?

14 slots is better than 12. 7 bars is great though because I like having a melee, range, mage, misc./skiller and a dung bar. That currently takes up everything.

P.S. 32-36 hours until beta release.

Those 7 actionbars is a oversight of Jagex.

32-36 hours until sign-up closes. The beta itself starts on the 17th.

The new player's question is going to be gone in literally 1 tick. Holding a conversation will be almost impossible unless you are a supreme being named Lilu and that guy is not even going to see your "grats 99 cook" message. This is why we have private messages, friend chats, clan chats, special areas like dungeoneering where you can talk no matter how far away you are. Global chat really isn't needed.

I should clarify since none of my prior posts mentioned it: I like the idea of the public chat radius being nudged up a bit and even having 'special' radiuses in more areas (akin to dg or ma). Most mini-games could probably benefit from having a game-wide radius for one, GE it would be nice to have a specialised radius where it is smaller for what is shown in the chatbox *but* it also has a larger outer radius that uses 'hide' especially if chat is recoded so hidden messages won't bump stuff outta ya chat box.

Hi 7 action bars.

I know 7 has been confirmed as false, but interesting on the 2 extra slots on the bar itself:

Did anyone note there is a larger gap between the two and the first 12? Suggests they are some how separate, also note that both the extra two seem to be holding weapons, or attack styles opposed to actions.

I'm wondering if they are something to do with showing like monster weakness and attack style or your weakness, the two shown look rather like the fire weakness and bolt weakness symbols specifically.

Another thought would be they are your hands, as in they show what each hand is doing so like in the bar shown main hand is doing fire magic and offhand is doing bolts.

Another odd chapter to the Sliske symbol trilogy: found this while helping a friend with Wizard's Tower quests.

I really wonder what the heck it is. It's apparently been around for a while, if they didn't change the book to show it in a later update. Third case of it, possibly more to be found in other places?

That's an awesome find. So now we know the wizards tower mages know something dealing with the magic involved in both places.

I can't seem to place a firm finger on it, but I feel that symbol is supposed to represent a seal. Both nex and guthix were sealed away, but only the magics involved were dissipated and nothing of its potential physical manifestation was destroyed.

Edit: Seeing as the white knights and void knights have had a glorious time in the spotlight I wouldn't mind seeing more of the wizards tower. What I'd like to see is a much more larger look into their involvement beyond what they might be doing outside the tower itself.
