what is YOUR view/opinion on arrow thiefs(no it isnt a rant)

Featured Replies

My opinion is that if they can appear then you are killing them too slow, thus you are not good enough to kill that monster effectively.

Just a point to make on the people who're saying "too high for your ranged level" and all that:

First off, it's random :P You could theoretically hit 0s for two minutes straight with 99 ranged, however improbubal it might be (very highly unless it was the kalfite queen's first form).

Second off, true-30 ranged wont kill a lesser fast.

But at what ranged level is a player "allowed" to kill lessers, or fire giants, in that it'll generally take less then the minute/30 seconds (I don't remember which it is with items, and haven't ever bothered to find out-it doesn't factor highly to me as an important goal). Many ranged guides recommend fire giants for 60-70 or 60-80 ranged. Yet even at 70 ranged you sometimes don't kill a fire giant before your arrows appear.

So at what point does the losing arrows overcome the running out from the safe spot every few seconds?

And to those who want people to run out and grab the arrows from their safe spots: Yes, lets see you put yourself in possible dragonfire and enjoy it, just for about 300gp worth of arrows (or less).

Edited to add: (sort of on a different track)

Oh, and to all those who complain about runescape going to the dogs, thing for a second about what you are doing to influence that.

Lower levels will take longer to think of arrow stealing if they never see it done. Lower levels, who will eventually be higher levels, don't think of calling others noobs if they never hear the word. Scammers will have to always be original if they never see scamming. Etc.

I never intentionally steal other people's arrows and if I accidentally pick up someone else's I return them. I used to like the King's Training Centre but it has become a den of thieves, liars and pranksters so I never go there anymore. It was bad enough when people stole your arrows, but now they steal your drops and lock the door on you if you try to retrieve your own stuff. I never talk with these people because I have nothing good to say to them. For whatever reason, that really makes some of them angry. Of course, if they resort to swearing or cursing, I report them.

I normally dont do it, because im to busy picking up my arrows, but for those complaing about theirs being stolen, get higher range and quit whineing.

Maybe if you actually read my previous post you would know that i dont steal arrows?

What i was trying to say to you was, no matter how much you like to think that your opinion counts for something, the truth is that it doesnt and no matter what you say "jerks will always be jerks". So drop it, k?

I actually respected you until i found out how arrogant you really are.

Your point of "jerks will always be jerks" has nothing to do with whether you steal arrows or not. If I say that stealing cars is just "jerks being jerks" it doesn't defend my defense of them. They are both wrong. Arrogance has no bearing on the situation whatsoever.

"Terrorists will always be terrorists". Right? So why complain or speak against them? It will do no good by what you are saying.

My point is still valid. Your anti-stealing point is still valid. They have no bearing on each other. Do you get what I mean? I am not being sarcastic. I am simply asking a question.

P.S. I do NOT think that gamers who steal arrows are ANYWHERE near the same level as terrorists. I used that example for an exaggerated point. I would rather every last person on runescape steal, scam, lure, and betray if it would make even a single terrorist rethink their ways... and/or die.

They should BURN!!!!!!! Honestly, I took time out of my training to make my arrows and then they come and take them! Those people are truly n00bs...

its a wonderfully easy way to get arrows ::'

And a wonderfully easy way to be a jerk for no reason. Why do you enjoy making the community even worse? You are the kind of person that picks up the $5 bill that an old lady drops. Technically both are legal but why do you enjoy screwing other people over? Seriously answer please, I would love to know.

hahaha good one rahk , anyway i hate arrow stealers , its unfair they take ur stuff , that is what divides the noobs from the good honest rs players

When those arrows appear on the ground they are not yours anymore, once they appear to everyone they are up for grabs. It would be the same if u threw santa hats and u didn't pick it up in time, someone would obviously grab it. If you can't kill the monster in the time period when the arrows only appear to you, then it's your fault, not theres.

If you have any questions about World of Warcraft or you need an explanation about something, please feel free to pm me.

If you really cared about your arrows you would take the time to make sure no one picked them up in that 60seconds before people can see them. Also its your responsibility to make sure your arrows are safe.

I do not steal arrows on occasion but if someone gets me angry let them burn......

Technically, it's their right to take the arrows the same as it's yours to pick them back up. I don't advocate it, in fact I think it's pretty irritating. But my philosophy is, if they're scrambling around, stealing a couple dozen arrows, then they need it more than me. :)

But if I'm actually NOT using my Cbow these days, I'll use my Xbow. And if I'm not using that, I'm using Broad-Arrows. They're equivilant to a Mith/Addy cross, and are untradable. The anti-theft arrow!

I actually respected you until i found out how arrogant you really are.

RAHK's actually a very intelligent and honest person. You've just hit a hot button on this subject. Arrow stealing brings arguments and insults, and insults degrade the quality of the community. Perhaps if people are angry, because they think you advocate arrow-stealing, than you should make your opinion more clear.

IMO it doesn't really matter to me if people pick up my arrows. Before I became a member I used to train in the spot recommended in xp3nsiv's pure guide because it was such a good spot to range. Oftentimes when people where at the BKF doing the quest they would ask politely if I wanted my arrows back and I would just tell them that they can have them. The only time that I feel a small bit of annoyance from arrow stealers is when I'm in a fight in the wild and some person runs up and steals my arrows before I have time to pick them up because I'm trying not to die. The only reason for this is that I fight with rune arrows and they usually cost me a fair amount of money(I pay 40k for 100 arrows) and losing them because someone else takes them is kind of annoying. But I don't say anything to them because like CDub said, if they're running to pick up my arrows then they probably need them worse than I do.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

When I used to range black dragons there would always be some level 80'ish player (Sometimes even lower) who would one-item at black dragons for the sole purpose of taking my arrows. I can't begin to tell you how utterly annoying that was. If I could have, I would have reached through the screen and wrung their necks.

Anyway, most arrow thieves need to get a life. I don't care if it's a game or if they arrows are "Fair game"-- Deliberately doing something which you know will annoy, upset and aggravate another player is just plain pathetic.

It's worrying that so many people seem to think it's ok.. Yes, I understand that they're not "your arrows" once they've been fired, yes I also realise that the game was designed in a way that allows other people to pick them up... But really unless someone is clearly not interested in picking their arrows up surely it just comes down to common courtesy not to steal them?

As a related aside, do the sort of people who deliberately wait around to steal arrows (as in Sly Wizard's example) not realise that if they spent the same amount of time woodcutting/mining/fletching the could actually MAKE the arrows far quicker? I guess that doesn't irritate anyone though so would clearly not be as much fun....

Mordendravid.png

I hate them when they steal bronze and iron arrows. If someone is using addy or rune arrows to train they should expect people to steal them though

Why?? Translate that to real life.. Because I own a nice car I can expect it to be stolen.. Ergo, it's my fault for driving a nice car?

I know it's only a game and thus the impacts are less, but people seem to fail to understand that there is still an impact because behind the pixels are other real life players.... It's not quite the same as driving a tank through LA in Grand Theft Auto!

I'll set about answering my own rhetoric question, and suggest that the reason is lack of consequence - irl (assuming you got caught - which is probably a bit optimistic but hey) you'd face going to prison for stealing a car. In RS you gain upto 400gp per arrow depending on type. However, I've noticed there are a great deal fewer arrow thieves in the wildy! The reason? Because the "owner" of those arrows is able to do something about it...

Mordendravid.png

you have enough time to pick them up

so it's your own fault if you're too late

That's what monkeys used to say about us.

Arrow stealing seems to be worse at blue dragons. I only take peoples arrows whenever they take mine. Lets start a pl0x 4r33 arr0w s34l3r cl4n! (We probably could with all the people for it). Anyway i am against stealing arrows from people who have to stole mine. Its a treat others how you want to be treated thing.

Yea ok, sorry

I don't mind people picking up my arrows when I'm at caged ogres, only if they ask if they can have my arrows. What really gets me is that they assume that they can pick up arrows that I spent time and/or money on to get by just world hopping.

mssigqc5.jpgI do English to Japanese and Japanese to English translation for free! Just keep it under 5 sentences, and PM me to use my fluency in Japanese to your advantage!

I guess you could say I'm against arrow stealing. It doesn't bother me though, because I'll use my trusty broad arrows if I'm worried about losing them. To me it doesn't seem worth the few hundred coins you might earn, so I couldn't think of any other reason to do it besides maybe to piss someone off. Not a good way to make friends.

I don't like when people steal my arrows so I never steal other peoples arrows. Unless that person is being a major moron then I'll steal and taunt them until they change worlds. \'

wait a sec...

i remeber u...

ur the person who was in the black d hide taunting me cus i was a noob with red dhide and only using black knives..

then u logged off and switched worlds

fulldragsigcopydh25.jpg

The fact that arrows become public is part of the game and there's nothing unfair about it. I'm lucky enough to have plenty of arrows myself so I don't steal other people's, and I don't sweat it if someone takes a few of mine.

If I'm ranging something that takes long to kill so my pile becomes public AND there's someone consistently taking them AND if the arrows are worth something to me, THEN I'll just try to pick up my pile mid-kill if possible, or switch worlds.

More often than that I'll actually be bothered by someone picking up my iron arrows and trying to trade them back to me every 2 minutes. I appreciate the thought, guys, but I was dropping them because I didn't want to waste time! :XD:

first of all, the people that pick up arrows waste their time, its much faster to just make your own.

second, you have time before other people can see your arrows, so if you care so much PICK UP YOUR DAM ARROWS SOONER!

runescape is just a game, if jagex didnt want other people picking up arrows, they would make them never show up to other people.

Arrows are no longer yours when everyone can see them, just get over it and use a crystal bow.
