ZidaneCT
~ September 11th Remembrance V ~ <>{ Hosted by ZidaneCT }<> //> This event is not sponsored or affiliated with the Tip.it Events Team (TET) in any way; hosted personally by ZidaneCT as a separate entity. / Hello Everyone. As noted by the roman numeral in the title, this will be my fifth year hosting a Sept. 11th Remembrance. My first remembrance took place all the way back in 2002, back in Runescape Classic. Over the years I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve remained at the same Ice Mountain, though it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s figure has changed from the days of Runescape Classic, it remains a tranquil and peaceful locale. We shall return to the mountain once more, to pay our respects, and hope for a brighter future for all. We each have our own accounts and memories of that day, and for myself, I still remember that day clearly. Started that day just as a normal day of middle school... with limited details being given out, and later being given verbally what had happened. Even then, I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know the scale of what was happening. With my father working for the government, I worried if he was alright, if he was targeted? In my case, I had no visuals until I got home and saw them on the TV and online. I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t even know what the World Trade Center was exactly until the day, but I knew after the event. I learned that the world isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t a simple, happy place, war and terror is real, not just something in a far-away land that couldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t affect me. It opened my eyes to the tragedies that occur worldwide, and the suffering and pain that is a reality. Everyone was impacted differently. A great loss of life, with a new existence of reality following. Onto the details of the Remembrance: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 Time: 5:00 PM EST, 4:00 PM CST, 3:00 PM MST, 2:00 PM PST, 10:00 PM UK Location: Ice Mountain (Above Fally) Server: 85 (F2P - NYC) Attire: Formal Attire (No Armor Please) Reason: To remember the victims of Sept. 11th & hope for peace and tranquility in the future. Notes: Read Below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-depth information about the event, that you should note; as well what this event / post is and is not: We will be meeting on the summit of Ice Mountain, which is north of Falador and south of Black Knight Castle. Once there, you may pay your respects, say brief words, say a poem, remain silent and listen, or other offer other tokens in your own personal approach. In paying respect, you are not limited to Sept. 11th, it is perfectly fine to speak of other tragic events that relate more closely to yourself, or has impacted yourself or others. I would request that you don't wear no actual metal armor or weapons, although robes, clothes, and staffs (other hand items that are not weapons) are fine. There really isn't no set plan of events, we will go with the flow, the people who attend leading the event along. I do understand that over the course of human existence, other sad events have brought disruption and loss of life, in tragedies of both current times and of the past. There's a long list that I could never put here in its entirety. Overshadowing them, or considering them less significant ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ is not the point of this event. We all differ, and we each hold in our experience, memories of many tragedies ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ past or present, that we will not forget. The event will follow generally what the event describes. But like I mentioned above, if you wish to bring up thoughts or words for your own personal remembrances, go right ahead. I would wish that politics would not be brought up, as the nature of it is volatile. It shouldn't become an issue of countries or other arguments. Deep discussion is more suited for Off-Topic or the event itself, not this forum post. As well, some people think it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s pointless to bring such an event into Runescape. Think as you will, but it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s another outlet for people to speak their minds. As for the event itself, the last thing we need is people coming to cause trouble, so please be respectful. Let's just keep it calm. ~Sept. 11th Remembrance I~ "In Remembrance of those days... Never forget them..." On the above image, I remember one Tip.it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢er that actually lost his father in the event. When he and his mother saw the image, they cried together. Touched me in a way, myself. My heart goes out to the people who lost loved ones. I hope to yet again to remember all those people who lost their lives that day, and to hope for a brighter road for the future. Thank you. ~ZidaneCT ~ Proud Original Founder of the Tip.it Events Team (TET) ~ ~ Leader of the Runescape Party Host Committee (RPHC) ~ "There's no such thing as a never-ending story," You murmured as you looked away... hellbellz
Hey, Zidane, I know it's been done for 4 years, good idea, but I don't think representing it in a game is much (sorry). I think going to your church, or a meeting about 9/11 is the most peaceful way. But I'll try to come, as always. I like it. RIP - 9/11 victims, wives, husbands, families. Kilo
Hope I can make it. My dad told me when he picked me up from school that day way back in 4th grade. "Something like Pearl Harbor just happened". I was very scared that day. And when teh postal workers got the anthrax in the mail sent by afghanistan I was freaked out way way more. Both my parents work at the post office. Not a good time for me. R.I.P.- those who died, you aren't forgotten. Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Oscar Wilde

I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-

Striker6
I don't think it is necessary to do something like this on a game, it's kinda sad. I know it was a terrible thing, but to do something like this on runescape I think is a bit umm strange? Just my two cents.

Iantiger
My personal feelings are that those who lost their lives in such tragic events are best laid to rest, rather than resurrecting their memories each year, and for that reason I regret to say that I will not be attending. I am also aggravated that people only think to remember those who lost their lives in one such incident. When was the last time you heard of a memorial being held for the 7/7 attacks on London, although a fewer number of fatalities were sustained, that doesn't make their loss of life any less important. I'll stop now because I don't want to cause an argument with anyone, and I hope the remembrance service goes well. ~Ian Retired Tip It Moderator | Zybez Radio DJ - Listen Here

wild_goat_14
ill definately be there if im online....because those people need to be remembered everywhere...that includes online games. I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.

When was the last time you heard of a memorial being held for the 7/7 attacks on London, although a fewer number of fatalities were sustained, that doesn't make their loss of life any less important. ^^ What he said. This is always the problem with holding memorials though, the question is left to stand as to why it doesn't happen for other events. I know you mentioned this in your original post, but still. I don't remember ever seeing a Holocaust memorial event, and considering over 6 million people were killed in the holocaust, you would think that someone would think to do it. It's all to do with current affairs, people seem to be more affected by things that have happenned reently, but forget that whilst remembering the happenings of events such as 9/11 is all well and good, there are really no lssons to be learnt from it. There is a lot to be learnt from events like the Holocaust. I think it's nice that people want to respect the dead and hold a remembrance service for them, but I don' think it's necessary to do it in game. It would be much better to do it in real life. Just my views, I'm prepared for the flaming I'm going to get  99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength

Though, once you mention one tragedy, people ask why an similar one isn't included, and thus the list compiles. That's why I am keeping the event singular in default, while allowing the people who attend to bring up the ones that also impacted them personally. On the issue of that it should not take place in Runescape, it's a matter of preference, and I do understand your points. But not everyone has access to real life remembrances or thus forth. Everyone has their methods, real life or in-game, personal or amongst others, to pay respects. ~ZidaneCT ~ Proud Original Founder of the Tip.it Events Team (TET) ~ ~ Leader of the Runescape Party Host Committee (RPHC) ~ "There's no such thing as a never-ending story," You murmured as you looked away...
