Magic "special"

Hey everyone what do you guys think how come magic doesn't haev a special like melee or ranged. Sure they added ancient which is pretty good for pking but I find unable to make "instant kills" with it. Wildy has becoem so safe now that if you tb you jsut run into monsters or around trees and log or if you get frozen u teleport, and I want to solo pk. Most people now get kills by attacking so quick that the oponent just doesn't have time to eat but with magic its impossible because it is so slow. By the first hit the person just runs or teles and if he doesnt he is fully healed by the next attack. I think this is a bit unfair and forcing mages to use combo to switch to bow or degger. What's your opinion.

Range is the one who needs a better spec, the puny 25,25 max with rune arrows at 99 range potted and praying and it takes over half the special bar is trash. It should be changed to 3 specs per bar or atleast 2 so I can get some wicked KO's with it.

Who needs a special when we mages have the pleasure of being able to k0 9 puny insignificant meleers and rangers at once?

also try to pk with range unless u have killed me when i was in lvl 1 wildy selling ddses 4 some stupid reason and lost 700k in cash by a ranger it hard im sure to pk with range no binds no tb

I'm sick of seeing this arguement. Gimme a few minutes and I'll see if I can find a post of mine I made about this...

 

 

 

EDIT: Tip.it deletes anything I have said something in that I would like to share. Anyway, I just said that even though you can't hit 30's on other players with range, it still kicks wagon (yes, wagon; I didn't say put teh "A word" :P) against NPC's. I've gone on numerous KBD trips where level 70 rangers with crystal bows got the kill more often than a level 120 meleeing. It's not underpowered. Stop complaining.

I can hit 25s wit rune arrows? Sweet!

 

 

 

Highest ive hit was 24.. And ive had 99 for quite a while.

This is a quete obvious solution but I specifically asked about magic ONLY, although im 99 combat 88 mage and 85 str and with pots can use both what about mage pures?

 

 

 

Also I think 24 is a very high hit for ranged they hit almost 2-3 times as magic and this makes you constantly eat so in the end you are way down on your food. Melee is beggining to be harsh too, not whip but dds 3 specs 2 hits each and with 99 str (most pot) its about 20 dmg per. You might get 1-2 30+ and a few 0s but it's usually pretty major.

In the PKING triangle is is VERY underpowered. The only use of it is as a backup against mages who prayer switch. Seriously, I'd rather a dds or a whip against a mage any day of the week. Go into the wild, rangers do not exist as solo pkers at mid - high levels.

Rangers are overpowered when they combine themselves with the power of magic. Snare, Weaken, Bind, Curse. All these spells make the kill a hell load easier and if the opponent can't move it's deadly and cheap kills.

Stop over-exagerating, thats a complete lie. Rangers are powerful PVE but in PVP they are pathetic. Specials arn't for training, simple as, the burst effect with no way to regain it (the lunar spells ability is useless) quickly is the reason for it.

That is a complete and utter load of *. I've gone on number KBD trips with a few friends of mine who are maxed out melee, and they get the kill 9/10 times (I'm 99 range, mind you).

 

 

 

Anyway, range is completely and utterly useless in PVP, hence the reason there are very few rangers when in the wilderness when compared to mages or melee'ers.

There is no way of getting a quick ko with mage. With melee you have dragon dagger specs, maxing at 74 (37,37 i think), with ranged you can hit a maximum of 48 (24,24) in one move. Mages can hit a maximum of 30 in one turn. There is ample time between casts to eat - unlike with rangers, who, if they get very lucky and hit a string of 21's or more, you can never out eat enough to heal yourslef intime. The only way I ever get ko's with purely mage is if I am in deep wilderness and they have no chance of escaping, if they are using lobsters or worse as food, or if the disconnect. Ever tried pking in edgy with it? Ice barage, they eat, ice barrage, they eat, you fight for a bit, being forced to safe like hell to avoid thier dd(s)/msb specs, each hit costing them a maximum of 400 gp, each of yours costing you 2.6k. When they think they will lose, they run. You barrage, and if your lucky you may be able to freeze them once before they leave the wilderness...but no chance for the ko even then, as they eat a couple of sharks and escape, having only lost thier sharks and little bit of pride. You are probably poisoned, low on food, and that battle has cost you 50k in spells. Thats if you only cast barrage less than 25 times. If you were fighting a ranger, even if you get the kill, you wont even cover the cost of the runes you spent to do so. It is hardly surprising that mages pick on runecrafters, when it costs so much to kill anyone they can't ko in a couple of hits. That is why mages need a spec.

I have done it several times (in the Pits or Castle Wars). It is indeed very amusing when they lose thier abilities...especially if they have a low magic level and find themselves with no spells at all!
