Kilo
Lumbridge Training Gear The lvl 3's in Lumbridge are getting free gear from training npc's. While the lvl's won't be tempted to beg (for a while) they get armour and weapons better than most of us had when we first started out. I was wondering what you guys thought of Jagex giving out free armour and weapons to low level's when they never gave anything to the older Runescape players, do these people new to Runescape deserve it? And why does it look like white caslte wars armour? Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Oscar Wilde
baron8000
depends on the stats, if its only the same as bronzeish then it wont really matter, there is no market for bronze stuff anyway If it stops them begging then im happy as will most of the lvl 60+ plus/member/rich population :D

liam892005
How can they be worse than bronze  The new armour is wooden 2 so  again Returned 10/03/2010 after a two year break.
Doomster
The sword is like bronze and the shield is like wood, but looks good - provokes a lot of "where do you get" and "buy UR SHLD" It looks like a white castlewars shield. Mages are left out, they get some standard runes, but (not done that one yet) they ought to get a tinted and untradable version of a standard (15gp) staff as well. dargonhuman
*snicker* yeah, I'm lvl 81 and got the melee training stuff; the tutor was like "You're a little big for these, but here you go anyway." Well, I thought it was amusing. Part of the Star Traks network. (^^Clicky!) Irony: An amnesiac rediscovering they have an eidetic memory.

Mages are left out, they get some standard runes, but (not done that one yet) they ought to get a tinted and untradable version of a standard (15gp) staff as well. The idea was to replace the starting items given after tutorial Island. Since staves aren't given out when you first start off, they aren't offered to you. As for the arrows, I think they are the same level as bronze. However, (and this is just based on my ranging with the arrows), they don't seem to break for me. Not one of my 25 has broken yet, and I have ranged quite a bit with them. It is VERY likely that it was just luck, but then maybe they left it that way...either way, they are good so you don't have to worry about arrow theives, and if you're patient you can get a nice supply of them to train with, especially at low levels. zubeedoo
I tried out the arrows. I hit 10's with then on rapid. That puts them in the same league as iron arrows. I went to lumby w1, and was amazed to see that I was nowhere near the highest level there (and I'm lvl 87) I'm about to go see if I can buy the training arrows from the range shop, I'd prefer that since i like the look of the new bow enough to train with it  Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )

No more worries about picking up arrows within a minute! And yea, I hit 8's with no ranger armour/items boosting range on at 42 range, so its not too bad. Plus the bow is just baning hot! Eyrelex
The things that they give you are equal statwise to the things you get from tutorial island. Check out my Pocket Slot idea!
Pinkbullet3
Well, first off, I'd like to say that that training shield does look pretty hawt, considering it looks somewhat like a... P2P's item. With rapid and level 70 ranged, I can hit 9s, so yeah, the training arrows can be compared to iron arrows. Well, I really wouldn't care if these new people deserved it or not, because they're just newcomers. Wait until they stick with their training shield until they reach level 70, thinking it's better than rune... :-s (Yeah...) ^ Blog.

jemathonical
I think that the game is getting more easier to play for low levels. When i first started I only have 25gp,bronze sword and other junk. Now the new players get new armour and get told what to do. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! imaleber
I think i can pretty much confirm that the arrows are pretty identical stat-wise to iron arrows. I hit 12 with them on rapid. 93 ranged. 99 Ranged F2P achieved 21 November (2961st)
InkofDeath
jemathonical~I know alot and i mean alot like 40 people who wanted to play runescape, but got bored with it, case they didn't know what to do, and they didn't know they needed to lvl for items and such. this let them know what to do and may increase the runescape population. Doomster
Tried the arrows on rats (on a character with no range at all) and lost 1 arrow per attack, using 2-3. So they do break.

Firebird75
I think it's to keep new players from leaving the game and probably 50% of the players will become mem and will obviuosly are going to paying aren't so obvious benefit on Jagex's part
