With 50 range and no hope at all for a fire cape, I personally prefer my new quest cape to my obby; simply because it has the same bonuses and is cheaper.

My obby will always have a special place in my bank though...

How did you get quest cape with 50 range? Mourning's End requres 60.

And Mourning's End part2 requires 70 range (edit : I was wrong 60 is ok too) appologies

It does. Every cape gives a temporary +1 to their respective skill. Either click "operate" when worn or simply re-equip the cape for the +1 again.

(...)

Wrong!

All capes do, except prayer and hp :)

1. There is no lava cape in the game. It is Fire cape.

2. It gives +4 str, not +2. :)

i got hacked and lost my fire cape, and now that i have a trimmed skill cape (i only have hitpoints, i cant afford the other 4 yet) - i dont miss the +1 attack or +2 additional defence that much, and the added prayer of trimmed skill capes are nice, the only part i really miss is the +4 strength, so i think ill get my fire cape back once im back on my feet, but really trimmed skill capes show more of an accomplishment, 2 99s is much harder than getting a fire cape imo

so yes, fire cape has better stats except prayer, but they arent all too great =\ its kinda like obby > legends, u only do it if u have the cash, but i suppose now its

fire/trimmed skill (fire is slightly better, but +4 pray is great) > skill/obby (skill looks better) > legends

fire cape is the best. if someone offered me a firecape or a skill cape i would easily take fire. fire cape ftw. skill capes are mostly for show.unless you dont have a fire cape skill capes are useless. i dont have a 99 skill but i dont feel like working for it.

It is totally wrong. You are more likely to hit someone drunk. Usually in a car.
Yes, good concept. Dont drink and drive, you might spill your beer.

yeah uhh.. requirements for firecape lets see, 70 range 43 prayer yeah some real skill there. dont diss the 99 skill capes just because you worked hard for your 70 range and you have no 99 stats, thats like dissing phats because they have the worst stats in the game but people wear them because it looks good, skill capes have the same stats as obby capes and cost 99k

I think skill capes show more dedication.

It takes what, 2 hours to get a fire cape?

For people who have multiple skill capes show they have time and dedication.

I'd rather have a couple skill capes than a fire cape. But thats just me :)

99 skills are just time... fire cape can show more dedication because of dealing with wasting 2 hours for it to be over in 20 seconds and not giving up after afew times... any 99 skill but fletching and cooking takes alot of time though.

Getting it with those stats shows real skill. With THE best equipment, muggi (THE best jad owner) said he lost like 10 times before doing it.

So what's better, showing off that you have a 99 (or done all quests), or that you can last two hours in the fight pits?

Personally, I'd have to say the Achievement capes are what it's all about for me. It's effectively just a cheaper version of the Obsidian cape, and comes with a handy bonus. (I don't know why you'd want to raise your Slayer to 100/99 though...)

These capes share some similar ground on the fact that they both take time, resources and patience to acquire. Yet it takes substantially longer to get a 99 in any skill at all than it does to beat TzTok-Jad. Range pures with 43 prayer can get a Fire Cape nowadays. It's just not that hard anymore to get one if you know what you're doing and have the bare minimum. However, with the Achievement cape, you've shown that you not only did the bare minimum, you went above and beyond that. I'd hold more respect for someone that had a 99 Slayer cape than someone that had a Fire Cape.

Which cape would I take? All depends on what I'm doing. If I'm fighting something, then maybe I'd take the Fire Cape, if I didn't have Strength at that time. If I was PKing or just fooling around, of course I'm going to take the Accomplishment cape out, simply because not ONLY will it add a boost to my defense, but it will add a level to my magic! More accurate Barrage == More Kills. So what if you lose that cape...you can just buy another for cheap.

That's my view on it.

real skill ok, guthans sit for an hour then put on magic prayer and trap jad behind a rock and you get a fire cape wow.. if you calculate it, and start from scratch as a lvl 3, to get a fire cape is 2-3 months, to get a slayer cape is about a year. skill doesnt really help you in runescape its time, and if you can get 99 slayer you have time

Edit: yeah fire cape is the best cape with stats, but it doesnt look good compared to the new capes anymore, people buy phats because it looks good so basically its the same thing with capes now. some people would prefer a blue phat over a beserker helmet i believe.

Are you kidding me? I understand people fail at getting a fire cape after 2 hours each time. Say a person gets a fire cape on their 5th try. Thats only 10 hours. Getting a 99 skill takes ALOT more time to get, so how could a few hours be more dedication than people working for months to get a 99 stat.

Spending more time = more dedication

99 skills are time and nothing else, anyone can press "use shark on fire" 100s of times.
