Technically it would be the player with the best stats that post here so you'd have to logically say Zezima and N0valyfe. There are many different definitions of 'great' players. Examples: N0valyfe, Has an account, is 2nd on highscores so could be considered the best player here cus he has the best stats. But someone like Zoidnerd could also take, 'cus money just seems to pour out of every oriface he has :wink: Or it could go to the best friend you have on tip it, who's been great to you and therefore you could think of him as the best. That is the option of "best player" by total level. You may ask "What, is Reb crazy?" Okay, maybe I am, but that's beside the point. Though it has become a norm to acknowledge someone with a high total as a "great player", there's is no grounds for such a statement. My ironic defense is that skills in fact take no skill at all. The fact is that I'm just a good a player as Zezima (well, in matters of skill levels anyways). The only difference is that fact that he has a couple thousand more hours of free time then I've had to play the game. Think about it, does 99 Herblore take skill? 99 Magic? 99 Agility? 99 Fletching? 99 Slayer? No, they don't. They take the common sense of a 3rd grader and a lot of free time. Skill? No. Therefore, I inquire everyone to forget total levels when negotiating whether a player is the best, but rather look at those who took risks, those who helped the game, those who pioneered in certain aspects of the game we call Runescape. A few good examples would be: Great PKers Great Merchants Tough Boss pioneers (such as those to first fight and explain to us how to defeat the KQ, Dagganoth Kings, Jad, etc.) Pioneers in new skills, who write guides and explain how to do them. Of course the list doesn't end there; I was just listing a few ideas. I just ask that you feel free to discuss how good a player is by any merit, excluding total level. M'kay?
