Here's a tip, When you are close to obtaining a level where you can use more traps, 20 or 40 or 60, bring an xtra trap so you have it ready when you level.

Black Salamanders.. arn't the best, but one of the best. :P

I see the salamander getting nerfed in power or becoming MUCH harder to obtain... :-k

The fact that the Thieving gloves break is disappointing. What is the exp/hour rates for Chinchompas? I might have to go try them.

well i think the stuff is actually nice but know im thinking that jagex is doing alot better because people say that farming, con, and hunting stink but i think there the most fun skills which counts the most doesnt it \' :-k

edit:Theres a rumor that the barb tailed harpoon is faster at fishing that the regular one is this true?

I forgot about that. I gotta get me a couple of those. Don't know, haven't tried it. But I would bet against it. Jagex only mentioned the benefit of one extra inventory spot.

I used the new harpoon today and it does have faster fishing action. The old harpoon seems slow

compared to the new one. I felt I was catching sharks faster also. (My opinion on this )

Do you say chinchompas are faster xp than salamanders because of your hatred for crowded spots or are they realy faster? (4 traps at red salamanders compared to red chinchompas)

Salamanders would be faster xp. But you wont' be able to find an empty spot with 4 traps open.

Its not my dislike for crowds, its just you can't share net traps. If they're taken, you are out of luck.

And they're all taken right now. And even if you do find a spot, some rude, frustrated trainer will come and steal your spot, and you'll just be frustrated also.

Technically, salamanders are faster xp. Realistically, chompies will GIVE you better xp.

Actually, bring extra sets. One Evil Bob random, and you lose your boxes.

And you can use hunter potion to boost your hunting level if you wanna try something a level early.

Here's some tactics I gathered:

1. STAY AWAY FROM YOUR TRAP - The hunter NPC tells you this, and it's true. The prey goes to your trap more often if you're about 5 steps away. When I'm setting up multiple traps, I create a star pattern with myself in the middle. I reset traps and then head to middle again to eyeball all traps.

2. SMOKE YOUR TRAP - Once I got 39, I noticed a MUCH better increase in speed at the green lizards. With only two traps, I seemed to have at least one going off. That said, as it's easy to extinguish your torch, take a tinderbox with you. Besides, it's fast and cheap.

3. HAVE ADDITIONAL TRAPS - At the nets, this helps you quickly reset the trap without having to first pick up your items. In addition, random events can take you away long enough for you to lose your traps.

4. DON'T WORRY ABOUT BAIT - Unless you have stackable (herb tar) or replenishable bait, don't sweat it too much. It does speed up catching though.

5. CAMOFLAGE - Not a big issue as most players will be wearing the appropriate camoflage.

6. BE CONSIDERATE, BUT NOT A PUSH-OVER - Going to lots of competition, so be considerate. If a jerk desides he wants all the trap spots, you have to stand your ground be make it annoying for him. That means if you have two traps, don't get the reward if the annoyer is near that trap too. When you catch a creature, it will stay there for upwards of a minute.

They break? lol. Well, considering that there are falcon hides laying around the training area by the hundreds, the only thing thats gonna mess up is my "2 of everything" bank....

Hmmmm..... :-k

Yes, the new bow is very good. 10 Trips bringing 24 [bleep]es back per trip is...1140 Bolts. That's about 2-4 hours depending on how well you know the burrow locations. The bolts range from I think Addy to Rune arrow damage. :) Could be an effective combo in use with the MSB special.

If you bring a knife and chisel with you, you never need to bank. You can make the bolts yourself. Wield them for an extra inventory space.

Yep, after a certain number of "failures" the gloves degrade.

meh jagex promised 100s of new things and theres like 50 at best... more stuff needs to come only thing i cant wear is spottier cape

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

Harralanders are no problem, I have pleanty of them, but I doubt anyone could stand to run around the swamp and collect 300+ units of swamp tar (which = only 20 harras worth of ammo).

Actually, salamanders is the easiest one of the bunch. You can kill a slayer monster found in lumbridge caves ( I think its cave slime) that drops 1-9 tar everytime. Let me check another thread real quick.

EDIT: Yep, cave slime is the key. Easy to kill, just need 17 slayer level, a lantern, and antipoison.

Getting 1-9 on every drop will add up very fast, and beats running around picking them up from spawns.

I'm there :o

Hmm, someone with 99 thieving said they were able to thieve knights for an hour without them failing once. I wonder if the gloves are maybe too powerful?

cwscore2.jpg
Wow, didn't realize the weapons were so good. I'd dare to say that people might be using hunter crossbows in the caves instead of the karil one, as from what I've seen, the hunter one is MUCH faster (although I will still use my crystal bows for future attempts). And I think the bolts for the hunter bow are just about as hard as the karil bolt racks, especially if you get the tracking thing down to a science.

As for the black salamander, i like the damage, I did like 23+, but the fact is that it most likely won't have much practical application because of how hard swamp tar is to collect. Harralanders are no problem, I have pleanty of them, but I doubt anyone could stand to run around the swamp and collect 300+ units of swamp tar (which = only 20 harras worth of ammo).

Same story for chinchompas. They MAY be a good multi-target weapon, but they are difficult to collect, and monsters and players don't often clump together so that many are effected. It might be good for a P2P war in the wilderness in multicombat, but then again it would be much more effective just to use multi-target ice spells. Now if these can hit unlimited targets in its radius we might have a bit of a problem, tons of players + chinchompas = a helluva lot of quick ranged xp  (which is the same idea people keep having about ice spells when they only hit 9 targets  ).

I ran around Mort Myre and got 315 units of swamp tar for ammo.

why? to test6 it at the barrows of course! That thing owns all the brothers! wear prayer boosts against melee bros and karil, black d'hide against ahrim. I think you should mage mode karil because it's more accurate. use range mode on ahrim, obviously.

The Zebera is getting faster! The road to 99 Agility

Previous 99s (in order)

Fishing, November 23rd, 2009.

Attack, November 23rd, 2009 (got it about 10 minutes after Fishing)

Hitpoints (well, it was back then), December 28th, 2009

Defence, February 27, 2010

Personally, I believe cave slimes are the best for tar. It's very quick.

As well, getting more gloves of silence is easy. They're totally worth it. =D

Honestly the rewards are only decent. The range weapons cant really be used bc they are too hard to get efficiantly(fun for once or twice)

rewards are simply not enough for a full skill.

Shhhhh :-$ :anxious:

If that's true then let it be, Pickpocketing could use an "easier" method I'd say.

Edit: Also, think of it this way, at level 99 you are feasibly the best thief in the world of Runescape. Why not be able to steal from someone for an hour, 13 Million experience has to represent some degree of skill.

As opposed to the rewards of, say, woodutting? Firemaking? Agility? Hmm.. In my opinion, the only skill with better goodie rewards is Slayer.

I'm with Lee on everything he says, except:

Tropical Birds give really, really good exp! You catch a bird every 5 seconds or so (at least), and each one gives 95 exp. Untill you get to that magical 53 hunter with chinchomps, tropical birds give some of the best exp in the game!

Stop thinking. It's Runescape.

Yes it is cave slimes that drop swamp tar. But Ive only ever seen them drop it one at a time.

This thread says they drop 1-9 now. I assume they're noted now.

Could someone confirm this?

they stack, so you could say that. Anyway, i like hunter but am not thrilled with it, it can be really fun and cool, but it can get a little boring once you've tried all there is. I really hope we see more with eagle's peak, with the suspected bird egg release. But the real question for me is...what skill can they have next...but that's offtopic lol.

I have zero bird eggs. :( Bank obsessions be damned!

Npt trying to be a complete smart --- here...but you did say the best weapon was from hunting, instead of the whip :P

The rest of slayer is pretty much armored boots and different color mystic(cool but same mage bonus as blue)

On topic...I gotta get back to hunting. Didn't realize all these rewards.

I believe that the New thieveing Gloves will be non-degradeable after you complete the quest. Maybe they will be enhanced a bit as well.

As far as leveling, I do falconry. Its worked good so far.
