Are Black Salamanders Any Good? Answer Might Shock You!

Im making this topic to hopefully answer some questions about blk salamaders i hope this post can be found usefull :oops:

SECTION 1:Location and Hunt Requirments

Black salamanders require lv 67 hunt skill to catch with net trapping. Thier location is lv 20 wild by the hill giants and green drags north east of varrock.Beware of green dragon pkers about that dont mind to ruin your day by making you just another kill message.

Section 2:Stats , Attack Styles , and Food

All lizards and salamanders have 3 attack styles.Strength,Range ,and Mage . The stats of the black salamander are as follows.59+ slash,69+ range,71+ str.You MUST have level 70 atk,range,and mage to use.The food for the black salamander is Harrlander tar.To make u need 1 harrlander and 15 tar to make 1 harrlander tar.Must have pestel and morter in inventory to mix together.

Section 3:Fast ways to gather harrlander tar

The easiest way ive found is to farm harrlander seeds and as u wait for them to grow equip the required gear and fight cave slime while u wait for the herbs to grow.Cave slime can be found in lumbridge caves.You need 17 slayer and a Bullseye latern and a antipoison to fight these.They have a every time drop of 1-9 tar.I manage to gather about 300 tar in between times waiting for my harrlanders to grow.This is the easiest way to me because u dont have to fight all the people over the tar respawns above the cave in the lumbridge swamps.

Q:will it ever run out of ammo/food? Can I reload it?

A:yes it uses the harrlander tar as food,but its much more like bow and arrows once u use all the food you can no longer use the salamander untill you have more food equiped.

Q:what is its attack speed?

A:its speed is like the speed of a dagger/whip

Q:how can i get my max hit with it?

A:just like trying to find max hit with mage,melee,ect.You need the best clothes that give max stats for your desired atk style.For melee ,fury ,berserker ring,berserker helm, obby/fire cape,str boots/rune boots, rfd gloves,ultimate str prayer,super sets.For ranger robin/archer helm,range boots,karils/blk hides,range pot 15%range prayer.for mage,ahrims/mystic robe set,mage pot,15% mage prayer.

Q:what prayer would i use against somebody thats attacking me with one?

A:Its impossible to protect fully because of the easiness to switch between all the styles of the combat triangle.

Q:does it do dragon fire damage?

A:no it does not so theres no need to worry about using a anti fire shield against a player using one to attack you.

Q:what's the black salamander's average hit and how often does it hit high?

A: average hit id say 29-30 non potted no pray.How often does it hit high? My answer would be like a drag scimm every 6-10 hits u can expect a above 30 damage strike

There has been alot of questions and rumors about how high one can actually hit with a black salamander.Some said 20 some said 30.Below are pics of my highest hits using a black salamander on melee atk style.My cmb skills are maxed and I was potted and using prayer

wow, that is strong, is that just the melee attack? or the other attacks too..

just melee im only 95 mage and 85 range so when i tried with the other 2 styles i never hit above a 27 :oops:

How fast is it?

sweet but i still would choose a dds over it and most people arnt that high lvl so it wont hit that hard

id say fast as a dagger but really isnt a sure bet when used in battle

They have the same speed? Errm, guess it's the same then.

Shows you how much I've trained combat in the past 3 years :P, and how much I cared about weapons.

As for tar, go kill some cave slimes.

You have to be directly with the opponent to use any of the modes, theres no long range like magic or arrows

Wait until you see it go in barrows. wear black d'hide against ahrim, plate armour against rest, use mage mode on the melee bros, range on ahrim...

best to whip karil, though. every brother dies to 10-15 shots. :XD:

Hmmm thats interesting because I was playing pest control once and I was using scimmy, guy next to me was whip, we seemed to be hitting at the same speed.... anyway nice find with the salamander, I suppose it isnt' surprising that it's semi-powerful, given that it has the most requirements for any weapon in the game....

do the slamanders run out of ammo or something like that? can u reload them?

What's wrong with using it for fight caves? I'm planning to do fight caves with whip...

Doing it with crystal bow is so horribly cliche... I'd prefer doing it with a salamander just to be doing something different...

I'm not sure if this has been said, but the different attack styles hit different speeds.

Range is the fastest, followed by melee then mage. Max damage seems to also follow suit.
