vmser
I am thinking of selling it and buying a 1997 Toyota Hilux. Have you seen the Top Gear video where they try to destroy one of those?
Militaris
I am thinking of selling it and buying a 1997 Toyota Hilux. Have you seen the Top Gear video where they try to destroy one of those? Yeah I seen that, was quite impressive. I also heard of a similar thing being done to a Hyundai or similar and it survived quite a bit of punishment also. ____
Depending on its miliage and service history 8k does not seem that bad, getting it for 6.5k would seem like a bargain. The tyres by themselves are worth 1.5k when new and the winch another couple of thousand if it was decent quality. It's done just over 140K on the original engine. Tyres are at 90% tred, and most of the other mods are under 18 months old. The GPS unit itself is a year old and worth (rrp) just under 2K. BlueLancer
I sold it to a friend for 1 dollar ....?!?!? Call me next time you have *any* cars for sale. We might be able to even negotiate hundredfold amounts even if you don't deem it necessary.
Peter
Technically my first car was a car my parents bought as their own but "I could use it." Basically it left an escape clause in there for them to always say it is their car, even though I was the only one to drive it. It was a '93 Nissan Altima with 113,000 miles on it, and it was a steal of a deal for $1,200. Had some paint work it needed done, but nothing that was seriously noticeable. Since it was a four-cylinder, it ran pretty rough, but it ran. At some point there was a vacuum leak that made it so that if you didn't keep the RPMs up, it would die. This meant, when at a stop light, putting it into neutral and revving it to about 1500, and as soon as the light went green, let off the gas and put it into drive all fast enough to not lose RPMs, but careful not to launch at 1500 RPMs. It was an art... Also the starter motor died (how I got lucky enough for this to happen while it was parked in the garage I may never know), and the fuel gauge was under the impression that the tank only held about six gallons, despite the fact that it held about 17 gallons, so the gauge was useless. But it was a tank through the snow, I got up hills and through some of the most slippery stuff around, and it was always fun to mess around with in an empty parking lot with ice. My sister soon after hit driving age, and a decision had to be made. My parents presented the option to "share it," which would be the fair thing to do, but that's literally impossible since we both have jobs, different school schedules, and different social lives. I had never really liked the Nissan anyway, and always hoped for something better. I decided to buy a car, and after some thought I realized that with my current job I would have just enough money to make the monthly payments and pay for enough gas to get only to school and work, no fun. So I found and bought a '98 Toyota 4Runner that was mechanically sound at 118,000 miles (Toyotas run forever, similar to Militaris' Helix Surf, which is the same thing). I poured some money into some maintenance that the previous owners neglected, things like getting the timing belt/water pump changed, new tires, etc. I'm much happier driving a car that I know is my own, runs great, and I enjoy driving. It's not particularly fast, but it gets me around safely.
Uldric
First car was a ford laser. Current car is a Ford Falcon. Don't have a pic of it, but it is basically the same as this one. Same colour, same design, except mine is a 98, not a 03.

It's not particularly fast, but it gets me around safely. Mine is the 3L diesel and I had it up to 160km/hr, the the speedometer only goes up to 160km/hr. They are great vehicles and so versatile with so much room, plus with a few modifications they are excellent off road. The IFS versions also are nice and comfy to ride. It is also plenty of room in the boot to sleep in, I would choose one over a van any day.

Harrington
I'm still on my first car... a Fiat Brava. It's second hand, cost me 3,000 and i've now had it for two years now. Will likely trade it in another year or so... i'll post a picture of it later :)
adthegreat-
I just bought my first car on saturday just gone ^_^ I got an S Reg Ford Fiesta 1.3 for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1695. It should give me a larger incentive to pass my driving test, and although it isn't the fastest car, it will be good for my commute to college. How bad is insurance in other countries, my 3rd party fire and theft is ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1440, almost as much as the car :'(.

And fail miserably :P I can't drive til next year but i'll probably just get an old Renault Clio or Vauxhall Corsa or whatever's cheapest. jackalope14
Mine is a 1998 green Mazda 626. It is alright. The windsheild has a small crack in it but that will be fixed soon. Some of the padding inside of the door came loose. Most importantly I probably need new tires. We got our first snow today and when I was driving to school I started fishtailing and almost slid into a busy intersection. Luckly my back wheel slammed into the curb and that stopped me. Thank God  That may not have been all the tires fault though. I was probably going a little fast and wasnt used to driving in the ice and snow. :-w

For my birthday my mom is buying me any car and I'm allowed to buy whatever sound system, TV, Electronics..etc. for my room as long it is $15,000- It's not going to be a great car because I'll spend a [cabbage]load more on my room for school and leisures (Sp?) but that will still be pretty friggin' decent for a first car with what I have left I've got my eyes on a nice Pontiac G6 ^_^ Good god you people complain alot, even though it was my bad.. Kaphias
Im not nearly old enough to leagly drive, but that dosen't mean that I haven't driven before... I drove my dad's soon to be hot rod, a 1994 Geo Tracker Converteble top. Well, if going forewards 40 feet counts as driving... By the way, just got back from a trip to Palm Springs, CA, and saw 2 (yes thats two) Lamborghinis. Oh man, nearly flew through the roof of the car when I saw those! 8,325th to 99 Firemaking 3/9/08 | 44,811th to 99 Cooking 7/16/084,968th to 99 Farming 10/9/09 | Runescaper August 2005-March 2010Tip.it Mod Feb. 2008-Sep. 2008 | Tip.it Crew Sep. 2008-Nov. 2009

Yeah i'm fortunate that my first car is sort of a "hand-me-down" car. Parrents bought it because our other was getting old and so that me or my sister could use it once we were the age. I really haven't used it though. Didn't bring a car to college here.
