I clearly stated that I know that it isn't all the players. I gave roughly an answer.

Read on to find out why you should NOT follow Guthix:

I feel that this article is biased. Guthix did not really "end" the God war. He just neutralized it by introducing his own followers/minions into the battle, because he didn't want any of the sides to win, he wanted to be the almighty, and if Saradomin had won the god war, everyone would forget about Guthix, since Saradomin would be 'The' God of peace and harmony. And if guthix would set fot into the world, he would have been the new 'evil' god with him introducing evil to create the so called "balance".

No, Praise Saradomin, the only true RS God!

21 lag piles, 4 Pjs, 2 Party hat kills, 67 newbs teached.

nice story this sentence is actually pretty funny:

Not to mention Charos, who was Drakans right hand man, and such an expert in diplomacy, he could control the weakminded (Jedi anyone?).

did you know that charos is also an important person in the greek mythology? - it's the person who was charged with bringing people acros the river acheron from the world of the living to the world of the dead.. You couldn't pass him unless you was a very skilled diplomat!

That is actually Charon... not Charos

3rd age started with Zaros and Armadyl already going at it. Armadyl lost his staff, which came to the hands of Zamorak, who used it to kill Zaros (although he nearly failed at that).

He did fail, if you listen to the final guy in ghost robe mini-quest he says Zaros was now just a barely-alive entity, only lurking in the shadow realm (aka only what can be seen with the ring of visibility) and waiting for his time to return to power.

Other than that, great read! I knew most of it though, quests aren't for nothing you know

There's cake through here, apparently.
Tbh, as powerfull as Guthix is, his actual influence is that of a lazy oblivious person. His goals are to get rid of evil, but not all of it, and he doesnt wanna be a goody-2-shoes either...

So far his balance-counter balance attitude towards the world he created, has left it open to many interpretations, and one could only very rarely be completely anti-guthix...

His goal are not to get rid of evil but to balance evil and good, as guthix does both good and bad in duties to keep a sense of balance.

I guess you ment that but its not very clear in what you said.

Amazing post already new that information but i will be new to some people, I feel tip.it could use a god guide maybe this information would help.

That history is well skewed and anyone who reads the ghostly robe story can see it

World was made in the first age by Guthix

Zammy was a mortal

Sara and Zaros were good and evil basically

Zaros ruled over wildy, zammy followed one of the desert gods

Zammy killed Zaros with armydals staff and went into this big exile

When Zammy returned in the third age he was no longer mortal but a god, this was when the god wars broke out.

I have done every quest in the game and read everything in the knowledge base it is correct, its your history that is wrong. Your story is right you have just squashed multiple ages into 1 chunk.

First age was creation, lae first age to mid second age was Zammy killing Zaros, in what was more an accident than a battle as Zaros fell onto the staff.

Zammy was then in exile until he re-appeared as a god in the third age.

The third age is when they god wars then began, most probably as zammy tried to claim followers, land and greater power than he already had achieved by accident.

The early stages were not god wars as Zammy was a mortal and all that happend was Zaros fell onto a staff

As I remember it Zamorak was one of Zaros Leiutenants and was to deliever the staff to Zaros, when he went to give it to him, Zamorak and some of Zaros other Leiutenants jumped Zaros and Zamorak killed Zaros with the staff of Arymdal.

I would assume that was in the third age, and Zamorak became a god when he defeated Zaros.

Errr... I'm pretty sure you have Azzanadra spelled wrong.

This seems mostly accurate, although in my opinion the war didn't truly begin until Zamorak and Saradomin stepped up. When Zaros and Armadyll fought, the war had really just began, and according to what Jagex has implied during it's various quests, the war reached it's full extent, and only truly began after Saradomin and Zamorak stepped up.

Either way, thanks for posting this... I'm sure it was an interesting read for many other people as well.

Tbh the history of RuneScape is really interesting to read. I takes many mythological aspects and puts them into one game.

Another great read about the history of RuneScape and nice one on putting it together.

Plus, Sara has the Barrows brothers, how cool is that :P

I'd like to add something from one of the god letters. One of the Guthix ones he mentions that his power is not related to the number of followers he has.

  • Author

Hey, who revived my topic :P

Anywho, absolutely right. Guthix does not get his power from his quantity (and quality) of followers. Since he MADE this world, and everything and perhaps too everyONE in it, its pretty safe to say that Guthix owns all...

These evil forces were kept at bay because they could not cross the river salve, but werewolves have been seen on the western side of it.

On top of that, the Saradominist king is not allowed to send troops in to help out because it could swing the balance too far back. If this happens, Guthix could wake up once again and make the world anew, and all that exists now will be lost.

The best he can do is to allow adventurers to take up arms and go into the evil swamps on their own accord.

^According to his stupid advisor.... really, that guy just annoys me.

I know he said that is true, but I think he's lying <.<

Saradomin was fighting the fight on behalf of the good guys now instead of Armadyl. Saradomin had 6 (or was it 7?) great warriors at his disposal (you know them now as the Barrows Brothers and perhaps Ivandis Seergazes who you meet in Myreque 2)

Guthix then summoned creatures and warriors from Frenaskae (introducing dragon weapons) to end this war.

Three quick points. One is that the band of (I think it was...) seven warriors that Ivandis belonged to were seperate from the six barrows brothers.

Second, I was under the impression that it was the mahajarrat that came from the realm of Frenaskae and were the users of dragon equipment rather than having been summoned by Guthix to end the god war.

And third, I beleive the it was that "Should the three sides, Saradomin, Guthix and Zamorak meet in battle that Guthix shall re-awaken and recreate the world without the face of man." or something to that effect. If Roald was to send in his troops (Saradominists) this would prompt Draken to summon warriors from another dimension (Zamorakians). The forces of Guthix would then be forced into battle in order to restore balance.

To your first point:

You dont know that for sure... I find it odd that there are 7 graves in total, one of which is at a different location that that they thought (not at Paterdomus). What if the other 6 aren't there either, but are actually buried where the Barrows are? There is no evidence that supports 1 way or the other anywhere... I mean, other then that they lived in the same age?

To your 2nd point:

You're mistaken. Mahjarrat is like a league of extraordinairy gentlemen. Zamorak was one of these, and at the time he was still Human...

To your 3rd point: I said the same thing with different words, but good quote from the Guthixian Edicts...

To iwatake:

That advisor may be lying, he may not be. If he is lying, we'll find that out in Myreque 4. If he's not, then be glad you can still play RuneScape :P

You are right about the whole mahajarrat thing. I went back to check my old sources (the gods letters) and that seems to make more sence.

However I beleive you are wrong there. Because I had nothing better to do, I went back to Paterdomus to try to find one of the books from the "In Aid of the Myreque" quest. In the book entitled "the Seven Warriors" upon finding, lists all of them by name...

Wow very interesting read

Just one question: If gods were not allowed in intervene with affairs of the mortal world, how did our prayer skill come about and why does only doing something to bones gives us prayer exp. I also heard that Sara sort of likes people that bury bones so could he be the source of our so-called prayer skill?

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

all goblins belong to zaros and there are alot of them in varying strengths...

Zaros will rise again. (Please let the new t trails contain zarosian armor?)

Maybe include something about the dragonkin? KBD made an interesting quote about them.

"Every balance has a counterbalance, lest he forget."

"He" is Guthix.

I have a screenie of bob claiming to be zaros, when asked about his beliefs. I also have a pic of my query to jagex about this. Would someone tell me how to crop and post pics using fedora core?

As seen from A tail of two cats, Bob is the reincarnation of Robert the Strong, whom is a third age hero which fought against dragon-human things (forgot their name). Though he might have somewhat of an importance in that time, he wasn't Zaros.
