Fadfdfd
I work fairly hard in school, but not as much as I would like. My mom keeps telling me I am a High Honors student, but I continue to get honors with a lot of B's :x I think I may have a chance for high honors (only time I ever got it was 4th quarter of 7th grade) this quarter. I had 3 tests today. I received a 54/60 (90%) on a Vocab test today (15 questions, 4 points, 1 2 point bonus). I also got a 96% on a 25 Question "True Or False" test in History, and the Science test I haven't gotten back, but I believe I only got 1/3 of a question wrong on that (1 question, 3 fitb's)! \ That'll probably count as 1 wrong, but still I think I had a successful testing day today! No Final Exam's for me yet. Next year though :x

Viktorkrum77
i quit school because you do not learn much that you need for a job in life. im an apprentice carpenter and my I.Q is 144 (44 higher then average) and yea, school was just 2 boring / a waste of time to me so i went out got a job and make cash irl Good job in completely screwing up your life. You will be stuck with blue-collar jobs your whole life, and with the rate of unemployment, especially in blue-collar jobs, your future likely could be screwed. Plus. as an adult, going back to get your HS and college degree is extremely difficult. I feel bad for any family you may have in the future. Me doing staff. nik
To admit I didn't read the posts after the topic... I don't think school is a mesure of anything personally. I am a great student and I get very good grades, yet I still think that good grades mean nothing. The only thing that good grades will get you in this world is easier oppertunities to be able to apply what you know/who you are. Still, it takes alot more than good grades to go somewhere in this world. From a first hand experiance, I am in all the hardest classes, yet, I feel that the majority of people in my classes are simply morons. They do their work and work hard at their work, but that does not mean they are smart. C'YEA H0'KAY

dusqi
I used to think it was cool not to try. After all, the really intelligent people are the ones that don't work for it, but still do well. Alas, no. Plenty of smart people fail, and after a few years doing a pointless job, they'll become as stupid as everyone else doing the job. There's no shame in getting the flipping work done, and getting it done well. Education is a wonderful thing, because for once in your life, the work you do and the achievements you manage, are for yourself... not for some employer who is making money off of you and taking the credit for your achievements. Of course.. if you want a simple life doing what someone else tells you to do.. then that's your decision.. and plenty of people make it at school without realising it. You can sit in the pub with them every Friday night when you get your paycheque.. because that's the highlight of your life. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one.

QFT. I was one of those people who didn't work at school or college. That's now come and bitten me in the behind now that I'm at university -- I have to work now, and I'm just not used to it. I'm willing to do it, though, now that I realise I have to, so next term is going to be very different, I hope. deviantart account
rocketman089
I don't try as much as I should. I procrastinate and get lazy in the middle of the term, end up with a B average for nyself. zeekyhbomb
Yes well the upside to that is that this is only my first year in highschool, so I have time to work things through. I'm really just missing the motivation. As far as basketball goes, I am pretty good, but being 5'8, I realize that to be anything special, you need to be atleast six foot, and you have to dedicate your whole life to it before you even reach that height. Its really an all or nothing chance with that, so I don't devote my whole life to basketball. Also if you didn't know, the NBA also banned the league from drafting people straight out of highschool now, you have to play atleast one year of college. You don't have to tell me that being behind sucks, I know it. There HAS to be ways to make good money without spending your entire life going to college, getting some degree and then spending your life just working like a robot. How fun is that? I'm looking to pick up some sort of obsqure job along the way in my life. I've been a slacker in school since 4th grade, I don't really expect to change. If I wanted to, I could easily average honor roll in my school, it is far too easy, simply just a waste of my time. I don't want to be in that chain of people who do the same thing - Go to college, get a job, work for the rest of their lives with a wife and two kids. I'll find my way along, you say it as if if I don't go to college my life is ruined, when you'll find that you are false. You can't make up the year of straight 'F's on your record, unless you get held back, which if it keeps going the way you are portraying it, you will. One bad year in High School, even if you do fairly good the rest, messes you up in so many ways. Some opportunities that would have been there, aren't, because it messes with your GPA, it's just pathetic thinking that you can make up for slacking off freshman year, you can't. Personally, I don't waste hours of time studying, but my parents don't give me credit for what I do either. I try fairly hard, I do most of the work that is given to me, I study when I think it's needed, and I am doing pretty good. Chemistry is pretty tough, and my Spanish teacher is horrible, but other than that, it's pretty straightforward. It's really just my habit of procrastinating that messes me up. I can always find something to do that's more entertaining than homework, and I do hold it off for too long. I understand that fault in myself, and I try to prevent it, but I just can't 100% of the time. As of now, I probably have 4 'As' or so, and 3 'Bs', that's what I had on my most current progress reports at least. It's probably like a 2.6 GPA, I could do a little bit better if I really applied myself, but I'd rather lose .1 or .2 GPA than waste hours studying for that 'A' on a test. I'm up to or above par with most of my friends, and about meet my parent's expectations. I feel that I get good enough grades to go to college, and honestly that is all that I care about right now, just making something out of myself rather than being a stock boy or working at McDonalds. Joordaan
I'm 13 yrs old, my intelligence is way above average but I'm too lazy to do anything, my parents and teacher always say I could do MUCH better if I put my mind to it, I have an average of 88 atm. I'm usually playing v-ball or basketball.. I think when I get into high school next year I'm gonna start paying attention to school though.. I'm hoping to be a musician or a photographer.. ____
There were a lot of people in my high school who were very intelligent and didn't try. Most of the kids who were top in the class didn't have the most impressive test scores.Yea, that's me to a pretty good majority. I am not a fan of exams, I absoluately hate them. My memory is rather crap, so anything that relies totally on memory, I generally suck at. Hence why I'd cram, because I'd retain it long enough to gey through the exam :P Long-term asessment where I would be applying what I learnt towards something new I would get close to top marks with. No problems there, I'm more of a practical person than a theory person also...

The Dark Lord
When you study, write down what you are studying. Writing information down helps you remember it better. Plus, music can help if you really need it. I haven't had to really study until I reached high school, then I studied some more than I used to. I have the ability to look at what I'm studying for 2 minutes before the test and remember it better than someone who spent 3 hours studying...Weird. However, an employer is not going to give you a little IQ test, now is he? Instead, he will look at what education you received. For example, if you are just a high school graduate, you can never earn a whole lot of money per year. (I believe you can only work minimum-wage.) On the other hand, someone with a Doctorate can earn well over $100,000 a year. This gives you a much better opportunity, and possibly access to more jobs/careers that you'll enjoy. "School is just too boring, so that is why I dropped out of high school." is such a horrible excuse. It's saddening, really. You just throw your future away because of boredom. Screw boredom! Work hard in school, receive a Doctorate perhaps. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
