December 23, 200619 yr Guthans effect is well worth the price. But then again, it only really is if you can afford it. You don't want to be selling all your other items just for a set of armor that lasts about 15 hours. You also need regular armor. Guthans is only REALLY handy when battling high level monsters like Kalphite Queen, or The Daggonaths. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
December 23, 200619 yr Who ever uses Guthans for KQ is an outright fool, though. Known formerly as Ameoba3000. Now known as Vigoss.

December 23, 200619 yr 2 words to the question asked at the beginning of this thread: HELL. YES. With guthans, you can: -Do slayer with little food and not bank for hours. -Camp out at barrows. -Do fight caves event much, much easier. -Train alot easier, less food, and less bank, similar to slayer reason. -It's considered a must for DK trips...that alone can pay the cost of the set and repairs. I think I've made the point...Click the link in my sig for my blog on getting guthans, by the way There's cake through here, apparently.
December 23, 200619 yr I think guth is slightly overrated tbh. I have Torags, B2P and 80 def, and i don't remember the last time i had to bank during a slayer assignment (eating monks) I guess if you're going to sit killing something in an awkward place for many hours on end it's useful, but that's not really my thing. -Do fight caves event much, much easier. I'm no expert on the fight caves, but i'd say muggi is, and he thinks it's much easier without guthans :P In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothesI bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal doseI offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"
December 23, 200619 yr it was worth it whenit was 15-20 M It is essential slayer gear if you want to be efficient. Some people wear the set and just swap shield/whip for spear to heal but I think you get a lot more use out of by swapping armours. I probally have to repair once every 3 weeks doing this as opposed to 2-3 times a week if I were to wear it all the time. December 23, 200619 yr What do you mean is it worth it? Besides armor repair costs, it's free. Assuming you have 9mil, buy the guthans, train with it, then sell it back. You might even make a profit if you play your cards right. Not true, Guthans is only tradable if it is either 100% repairs or 0%. Jeeze, we're assuming you repair it to sell it. Otherwise you can't - we all know that. In the english language, you sometimes can imply things without needing to directly say them...

December 23, 200619 yr Yes it is worth it you can stay training at a spot forever! =) Well until you gotta repair it. lol like 15 hours later, Now thats a very long time to train. ----Retired Runescape Player 1/13/07-----
December 23, 200619 yr Yeah it is, especially if you have a 30% or higher discount from your smithing level + POH utility. :-w ... that's yet another thing people take for granted when they say 'construction sucks' In the long run it saves a lot of money on repair costs. But even before then, all barrows sets degraded much slower than you got drops to cover the costs of the repairs. And guthans saves a lot of time going back and forth to the bank, too.
December 23, 200619 yr its awesome...apart from im paranoid it will break down just when im fighting a strong monster tht is suicide to face without god armour  click my sig for my blog!!!Thanks everyone for the sigs they pwn!No. Why should i give presents for someone in rs?Most selfish thing I've ever heard
December 24, 200619 yr Yes it is worth it you can stay training at a spot forever! =) Well until you gotta repair it. lol like 15 hours later, Now thats a very long time to train. lol thats funny. that seriously made me laugh, dont take offense but 15 hours seems like alot but if ur going to use it some where such as abby demons... well its shorter then u think its awesome...apart from im paranoid it will break down just when im fighting a strong monster tht is suicide to face without god armour  thats why i like 99% of the time repair it as soon as im done using it. im currently @ nechryaels and brought 15 sharks along with guthans, i expect these sharks to get me thru half a super set. and then the guthans the rest of the way. well after i spend, oh maybe 2 hours @ nech's ill completely repair my armor just incase i had to sell it spur of the moment, which is very useful
December 24, 200619 yr if they took away the slow speed of the spear and the fact the spear trains def too, yeah id pay 2-3x that for it. it has the defence and the need for no food, yeah its worth it. De_Pk - Level 117 - Banned September 30th '06.
December 24, 200619 yr It's convenient. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
December 24, 200619 yr It's totally worth it if you ask me, it's saved me lads of money not only training combat, but at barrows. It's good armor anyway + the special makes it the ultimate adventurers wear. I will probably never sell my Guthans, not only because I will lose about 2m in doing it, but it's always useful :). December 24, 200619 yr It's difinately worth it, it takes a long time to damage it fully and if you have an armour stand in your house you can repair it cheaper but if you could afford it in the first place you should be able to repair. It is also definately worth it because the special effect works great for traning, barrows and almost anything. December 24, 200619 yr If your actually smart about it, use guthans ONLY when you need to heal. It is only good if you know how to use it wisely. If you can afford the repair cost, use it as NORMAL armor If you CANT afford the repair cost, use it ONLY when you need to heal. And use good ol' rune armor for the normal armor. It's pretty much simple if you ask me  Click here to see my blog.
