What are players worth?

Featured Replies

As we all know, Jagex is a company, and the goal of a company is to make money.

This is reflected in their updates; geared typically towards the more numerous lower levels, higher levels are neglected.

Two level 40's are worth more per month than a 126, and that is the sad truth.

In my opinion they value us all the same the 126's were lower levels at one time to dont forget so tehy got the updattes that were based around them at on point in time

I dont have a sig anymore =[

But I did manage to get every skill in the highscores

To be perfectly frank: We're worth $5/mo to Jagex no matter what our level is. And since the bulk of Jagex's clientelle is mid-lower levels, that's what most of their updates are aimed at :(

Players are worth exactly the same as when there was no members years ago. Jagex never created Runescape with the intention of even small profit, let alone what it is today. They still value their players by working to make updates constantly, and continuing to create them even when they arent needed.

You're spot on.

The fact is that once you hit 126, for the average player, there is realy no where else to go. So, Jagex asumes that high level players will be leaving soon in anycase, and as such, will target lower-mid range levels in order to keep the majority happy. You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Once an opinion is formed the truth is irelivant.

i feel that jagex treats all players when it comes to how much money there bring in to there company. I think that they only look at peoples skills when it comes to updates so they can keep the players that are still playing the game play even longer.

What's the debate? You already answered it. Players are worth to Jagex the amount that they pay for the game.

Hmm... see that's an interesting point. I don't really like the way this is, but if Zezima left for example, can you imagine the amount of fanboys that would leave with him? TBH, it could be none, it could be many, I don't think anyone can make that kind of estimate. Perhaps something Jagex would be more worried about is if a high status (arguably famous) RS player started to (let's put it nicely) bad-mouth Jagex. Would people feel more swung to their argument because of their status, and put pressure on Jagex for this? :-k

I don't think any player is worth more than the other IMO. At the end of the day, there's hundreds of thousands of RS members - one leaving has little significance, especially as the RS population is actually booming. As far as Jagex is concerned, it's more financially profitable to keep the masses of mid-low levels sweet than the very few high levels...

accuallly......i don't really think any player is worth more than another. such as when n0valyfe left they didn't do anything special to keep him here......

they'd rather help people level as a lower or midlevel because the high levels have already payed their share but the low levels and midlevels need to keep playing.

With the advent of pest control the numbers of high lvls in the game has increased drastically, my 112 combat character is 92 hitpoints and in hp is ranked 21 thousand overall for hp xp, thats 21 thousand long time plyers who get no updates at all catered to them.

My 94 rune pure has 82 hp (You can be lvl 100 at 82 hp) and he is ranked 82 thousand overall, so thats 82 thousand players having no updates catered to them.

How many of us does there have to be before jagex stands up and pays attention?.

roughly 1/10th of members are over 10 combat and we get nothing.

I assume you mean 100 combat?

Well, if they weren't equal it wouldn't be fair towards costumer support and reports. Updates aren't maybe a big challenge for people with maxed out melee stats, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun.

High players got Jad, minigames (I consider these for everyone, doesn't matter if you are low or high leveled), quests, high leveled monsters, ...

There are simply MORE mid-leveled players then high leveled players, and JaGeX tries to to make the majority of their players happy, and the majority isn't level 126

To be perfectly frank: We're worth $5/mo to Jagex no matter what our level is.

Exactly. Jagex doesn't care what level we are as long as we pay money. (I love talking like a p2p, but seriously if I had a way to pay $5/mo I would)

Many of the new monsters and fighting areas are geared to much higher level players, and a lot of the other activities/skills, like construction and slayer require more experience with the game... or just plain old cash, which you don't usually have unless you know what you're doing.

Some of the recent updates have been aimed towards lower level players, who form a much larger group in the RS members population. It's unfortunate, but true. Don't forget that high level players are a much harder group to please, because their interests are spread over the same skills as the lower levels, but there aren't as many people to get to in each skill.

Well Jagex tries to make the lower levels stay longer, and most likely the higher levels will quit soon. (Noez, Val!)

And yeah, that's pretty much it.

while, true they're workin on it

Barb assault is geared to higher levels..

Care should certainly be taken before attempting to help the people of Sophanem... if you want to survive this high level combat quest.

Veteran Cape Owner (10 year)

One level 3 is the treated the same as One level 126. A player is a player. (Members are favored though. But because they pay monthly, of course. :P )

Just the matter of the fact is, there are more lower leveled players. So Jagex tries to gear the quests/minigames towards lower levels. Mainly so they will keep playing, and one day become a high level player :). Also, skill capes just came out. And every skill that is created can be geared towards low and high levels. Not just one "class." (Low levels being the lower classed and high levels being the higher classed.)

Jagex is not "classist", no matter how much you think they are.

SAAAAAAD BUT TRUUUUUUUUUUUE!! :boohoo:

The funny thing is, those 2 level 40s are going to get really high level and realize that the game isn't fun because there are no good high level updates. So Jagex should be focusing more on high level content. A lvl 99 cape? Pfft give me a break.

there market plan is to get even more children playing. Before anybody says you're supposed to be 13 to play. You're allowed to play earlier but you need a parents consent. Look at the new parents guide...

I am going to agree with this fella for the most part

Jagex is doing a dang fine job of getting a little bit of everything out, and as a result once people get a taste of some stuff that jagex releases...

then thats all they want jagex to continue releaseing which is an unrealistic expectation to have

One small point. Name ANY other game ever you have played as much as Runescape.I forcast that 90% of you wont be able to name a game you have played for even half the time you've played Runescape. I played Deus Ex through the first time in 20 something hours then completed it twice more(i reckon i played the game for 40 hours total). It was a brilliant game i loved it but after a while it was boring. I have played Runescape about 10 times longer and im not bored (frustrated, angry, happy, tense but not bored). Now i'd guess a lvl 126 combat with say 1600 total would have played a lot longer than me (77 combat, 1030ish total) say another 2 times longer. thats about 800 hours or 33 days. That is why you are unhappy about content not being aimed at you. You've played the game so much that no updates can overtake your boredom of the game. Find a new game, take a break do something else.

Jagex is a company who's primary goal is to create revenue, therefore their attention will be focused to the bulk of their customers (levels 60-90)
