Obsessive_Passion
Actually I was pretty much just joking around, I would never do it myself, but you all really need to lighten up, taking something so little so seriously, and you call me apalling? Go through life like that and you're sure to get nowhere fast. I'm hoping you took notice of my use of 'it', to replace the act, not a person. It's not an accusation specifically aimed at an individual. Lighten up, indeed! So, I take things too seriously, do I? I have my heart set on something. I'm determined to get there. I'm a serious person, by nature. But you know what? People respect me for it. People look up to me for my mature nature; for being a dictionary, translator, encyclopedia. I'm older than my numerical age indicates, and, currently, this mature attitude is helping me get through life. It keeps me focused, helps me concentrate. The accusation seemed to be aimed at me seeing as it was aimed at my statement. If you take things too serious your whole life do you actually think that you'll be happy looking back when you near the end of it? All the opportunitys missed out on, loves lost, there is so much to do in life, if you be serious throughout your life, you won't have access to any of that, sure, it may get you farther job wise, but when you die, do you think that what status you had or how good you did at some job will matter? All you learned about this plane of reality? Have some fun, live life for what it is, live life in the now, rather than the later, all frequently repeated sayings, but each and every one of them have a point. You know, I used to be really serious too, and now that I look back, I regret everything I passed up, sure some things were just stupid fun but still, its fun, you only live life once, and living it seriously like that really is a waste. Don't get me wrong, its good to be mature, but being too mature can really mess things up. I only wish I had realized that before I graduated high school. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~

Rebdragon
-cool stuff--other stuff- Oh c'mon. You're making it sound like she doesn't even know what fun is. We're not saying that you should do whatever the hell you want. We're also not saying anyone should be purely serious. Everyone needs a proper balance of the two sides in their life. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. Quasar889
I can't believe nobodies said Jmod! I'd love to be a jmod. More realistically, however, my friend's dad is the chief engineer at Lotus, and I might get a job this summer working for Lotus as an intern helping with car design You act like the game community is like the stinking bowels of hell.... xXru1n3dXx
I have quite a few. - Working as a scientist at Area 51 has been one of mine for a couple of years now. - Working at the Cheyenne Mountain complex would also be cool, but it's no longer in use anyway. - Being a UFOlogist, hell it could even happen. - An Astronaut has always been appealing, as I love space. - An AFP Agent. - Lately being a pilot has sounded quite cool, but I don't like the pressure that quite a few people depend on me getting them to there location in complete safety. - I don't know why, but a stock broker has also sound appealing, as I like commerce. Too bad the first two options you would most likely have to be American anyway. RS Stats | BF2 Stats | ARSCV | LastFM

Don't get me wrong, its good to be mature, but being too mature can really mess things up. I only wish I had realized that before I graduated high school. Maybe I'm a different type of person. Perhaps I'm no longer fond of socialising. Perhaps I'm a shy, inward person. Yes, I am. My version of 'having fun' is different. What opportunities would I like to take, then? - Spending a year in France. Studying there. Studying and learning more is a past-time. - Discovering different cultures: tracing my ancestry back to rural China. - Learning more languages to become multi-lingual. Everyone has different paths in life. Everyone has different passions. Who else here actually wants to pursue a future in finance other than me? Also: have you read my post on the 3 big questions in life? I'm seeking self-discovery. My version of 'fun' is about seeking wisdom. Not knowledge, not facts, but wisdom. Mind you, this argument didn't arise from the definition of 'fun'. We're arguing over a censored word which, in my opinion, is morally wrong. May I stress that I'm female. I attend a private all-girls school, and I have my entire schooling life (thankgoodness this is my last). Hence, this issue impacts me differently than it obviously does you. I'm more sensitive. I'm certain that more than 3/4 of the members here are male. Consider being more sensitive, perhaps, in your (pl) future posts. This is geared towards everyone. Honestly. Lastly: I have no regets. I don't dwell on the past. I appreciate what I have, I'm proud of what I've done. I hardly dwell on what could have been. EDIT: My feminist reaction to your first disparaging post was an attitude towards "the issue", NOT my view on life and how to live it. So: anyone want to steer this topic back on track? forsaken
My dream job would probably be a well-paying job in something I enjoy - for instance photography. Honestly. You may or may not find the word morally offensive, but you seem to hold the view that males only [this is from my perception of your posts] enjoy watching or being in it. This isn't true, there is a fair amount of the female population there that also enjoys watching it. I think your comment that "this is geared towards everyone" is applicable also in this context, although not in the original manner you applied it. A forum is for the discussion of topics, why shouldn't **** be discussed, so long as no one attempts to impose their view onto yours? If you're one for human rights, there is a particular article that is relevant: "Article 19. Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." In essence, what I'm trying to say is that I doubt the discussion of said topic would truly affect you in such a manner that you couldn't ignore it. Personally, I find **** fine, as the females and males who act in them have consented to and even getting paid for what they're doing. If they want to do it, and people want to buy it, then I see no confliction there. For instance, there was a particular case in the 19th or early 20th century where a person wished to create a "directory" of sorts containing the details of prostitutes. He was charged for morally offensive conduct, however he won the case as he in no way attempted to impugn the views of others or to coerce them into going to or paying for prostitution. Rather, he provided an objective service which left the onus on the other individuals as to whether or not they wished to engage in such conduct. The same principle applies - there is talk of the topic, but I think it is obvious that the views held are not being imposed upon anyone, and thus not an issue. If we were to try to cater for every minority group [as you've suggested yourself as being] and their beliefs, well, ineffectuality and chaos would reign. . You know, thats almost exactly how I was in school, and I somewhat still am, though if it means turning all the opportunities around you down, let me tell you its not worth it, I go through every day now wishing I had gone to the school dances, even without a date, gone to a couple partys, joined a few clubs, asked several of the girls out on dates. I regret every bit of it. There was only 1 time I really took advantage of a fun opportunity, and that was at the beginning of the last half of my senior year, my animation class went to Disney World for a few days, and it was the most fun I have ever had, and not just because it was Disney World, but that there were others that I knew around me and we were all having fun. But still 1 event really doesn't make up for the hundreds I have missed out on. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~
