On friday, after a long and exhausting journey which sucked out all my life-force, ruined my health, made me quit rs for 4 months and left me squeezed and wrinkled like (sry for the rude metaphor) a used condom, i finnaly reached the lvl 85 slayer .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not many of you aware but peoples are (still) racing like maniacs for this goal,20-25k xp per week-day and 40k xp a day in weekends. I know because this was the amount of xp i had to do inorder to maintain my ~8700 position.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway,on friday, after the 85 fireworks i slayered 20 more fire giants to complete my task and logged off.As usuall,i check the highscore and...suddenly i am ranked 7700(!!!), 1k jump after only 2k more xp !!! .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, at this point u must be saying.."o well..isnt that obvious, if i had slayer 85 i would park my car outside the slayer tower/ALR and never get out..".

 

 

 

Axe Man Jack in his Guide to Becoming a Master Slayer,already referred to the fact that most of the people stop slayering once they reach the 85 goal but i wasnt aware how big this phenomena is.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It appears that the moment people receive the long awaited 85 message they start treating slayer like it was a terminal disease and avoid going to Shilo village only because they dont want to be seen by Duradel :shame:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For me slayer has became much more then another skill, it's,as Seinfeld once said (about something completly different),"part of our life style".

 

 

 

Quests?mini-games?other skills?those are simply a nice little refreshments,interludes between tasks to keep our sanity.

 

 

 

Sure,i am going to slow things down a bit , maybe do only 3-4 tasks a week but that is it. Next stop - 90.

it's just one of those skills where people only get a certain level rather than 99, like herblore, not many people actually get 99 they stop at 82(?) where they can examine all herbs and make all pots, probably only getting a level from making pots, same with slayer, what is the point of getting past 85? 90=dark beasts the highest but most pointless slayer monsters, they don't even drop anything special, 99 yes is a great achievement but think how long it takes? people just don't want to bother now that they can kill the best slayer monsters. other skills like this include, mining (getting 85 for rune then only leveling after mining rune) smithing (same as mining basically)

thats it. the annoying this about rune mining is you dont bother really gathering any materials anymore yourself as it faster to mine rune and buy the stuff.

Well i stopped at 85 becase i started training other skills. When I'm going to train combat again I will do it by slayer.

I rose several thousand ranks by getting 72 agility from 70, for such a low level that's a lot. People just want to be able to kill abyssals, they don't care about levels I guess.

i slayer im currently 66 slayer but even if i do hit 85 ill still carry on past it when im training combat

Most people I know stop at 85 too yes.. I'm not one of them.

Yes i'm about 98% sure people dont even finish the task out that they even got 85 slayer on...leave the place immediately and head to abby demons.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can recall several dozen lvl 85 slayer parties where this has happened...myself included #-o

I love slayer will see me at the top~ level 99 someday.

I researched this too. Before the skill capes came and ruined the RS economy, everyone stopped at 85 Fletching. Once i reached 86 i realized, i jumped 2k in ranks.

its like this with most of the major skill levels. like level 60 firemaking people have level 60 firemaking so that they can say that they can burn yews. but they don't really train firemaking after that. this was especcially apparent before the skill capes. i think that the skill capes were designed especially so that people can train their skills past certain level caps.

After I got 99 Fletching I finished the bows I had raws for. That was around 10k xp. I jumped 1,500 ranks. :uhh:

yeah i have noticed alot of people stop at 85 slayer i would too just because no point of leveling more i got to 65 and stopped since all i wanted slayer for was dusties and now im doing it again for fun

Look how many people have 53 thieving. There are around 50 with each possible amount of experience, and most are like "pure hit u" and "sendu2lumby." I'm one of them :lol:

There's nothing wrong with stopping at the perceived maximum usable level of a skill. That was once my goal for all skills until I found my niche in slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You could say the same for farming, fletching, theiving, crafting, and just about any other skill.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Continuing on in slayer still has its rewards of maxing combat and range, Profit from Clues, and unique drops.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The black mask has made it much faster and easier than itwas in the past.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you enjoy it, do it. I personally don't see any reason to train off assignment, or no life at one monster for any signifigant amount of time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plus those who keep slaying will be prepared to profit from any additions to the skill past its current Highest killable beast.

If I did, I'd stop immediantly after 85. I would probably try to get my rank up every once and a while, but I would just pretty much train on Abbies. 8-)

i got 85 and stopped too :P to me it isnt worth getting higher because dark beasts are horrible and id rather not lvl slayer and use my hard earned 85 \

Yes theres a rather good point that i forgot about myself...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When the Dragon 2H was realised it was also realised along with another boss monster (chaos elemental) i do believe...And was also added to the KQ's drop list as well...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So ya i suppose I could see Dark beasts gettin an update drop list and maybe even adding in a new "boss" monster to drop this item as well :mrgreen:
