Weekly Poll: Why do you play RS in low detail mode?

Featured Replies

I use low detail because it doesn't show the roofs of the bank and other buildings. Without the roof on you can select the use-quickly option of the bank booth before you enter the building, which saves clicks during repeated trips.

This is exactly why I play in low detail as well. As far as I am concerned low detail is better than high detail.

Yup, I can't stand the rooftops, and now when I go onto high detail, it seems cluttered. And since they brought music to low detail this past year, I'm happy all around with low detail.

I used to use high detail but I switched over to low detail because sometimes I have lag and I dont want to switch over and then also the music.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

Because on high detail my computer is generally unhappy. Probably because I multitask so much.

I only play high detail...

Used to always use high detail until I discovered low detail had no roof tops and no intro music. Now its low detail 100%.

i always use high detail becouse it just looks better.

i hate that you cant look in a house cuz of the roof (if you arnt in it) so you cant see what items on the floor and what players etc... its annoing

I use low because i dont like the roofs on the houses in high!!

I play both, high detail to see the graphics (did you notice some guides for clues say 'dig next to plant' and there is no plant in low detail :-w ) but once I've seen it, I go to low detail for reasons already named - for me the trees get in the way when I'm farming in Ardy on high detail so low is the way to go.

I also just went to the Brim Agility Dungeon on low for first time and I like it a lot more without all the fussy graphics.

Even on low detail they could do with the option of making walls 'invisible' depending on your view. I usually play zoomed all the way out because of the walls. :-k

I get lag/disconnected on low detail often, so it doesn't help in that regard.

Vine is waving at me. What? What was that?! It gave me the tendril! :o

I find low detail just more simple, and I'm more used to it.

I really can't see any difference between low and high. Running a T-1830 @ 1.86 ghz with 1gig mem and an ATI mobility X1300. I've run RS at low and high on this laptop with no visual difference see. I just can't see using additional resources for sound that I don't use anyway. Maybe I just need to pay closer attention. lol

High detail alone is fine, but whenever I play rs I have music, and multiple internet windows open, and it makes rs lag a lot since my internet is gay. Low detail lags a lot less. Plus I don't have to mess around with disabling the sounds and music.

the start up music as annoying, and roof tops hinder my movement especially since i play castle wars often, some times i cannot get a good click on a player due to rooftops and ceilings and all that stupid [cabbage]

all of the polls I've seen don't acknowledge the fact that high-detail can get annoying and get in your way, even if it runs fine on your computer. The roofs make it harder to get in and out of buildings, especially if they have doors in funny places. The grass and crud on the ground makes it harder to see whats on the ground, and frankly, I find a lot of it ugly.

i started in low detail hoping for less lag

and now im used to it

dont play rs that much anymor tho
