Weekly Poll: Why do you play RS in low detail mode?

Featured Replies

High detail all the way... for all those saying no annoying music, you know you can stop that from playing anyway? And my computer is fast enough to cope with high detail without any lag and I like alot of detail. So there we go, most people posting seem to like low detail however the poll says otherwise... :-k

I don't use high detail because the scenery is in the way... Especially the roof on Edge bank if I'm runecrafting. The startup music is pretty annoying too :?

BUT if I need to take a screeny where it would just look awful on low detail; I switch to high only for that screeny....

I play in low detail because of my computer...

depends on the activity im doing.if im slaying a high level monster then i stick it on low detail to avoid lag.if im questing then its always on high detail just in case theyres any cutscenes.most of the time though its on low detail

I do it for the faster gameplay, and because I find the more detail annoying.

i use low detail for 2 main reasons, 1 that my comp on average runs better with low detail (when it is doind well you cant tell the difference between low and high, but when its slow you can tell) and 2 because on low detail there are no annoying roofs to stop you from clicking inside the building you want to walk into, which is very nice.

I agree with Uular, the roofs and other structures get in the way.

Never argue with a dragon, for you are crunchy, and tast good with catsup.

Less lag even though my comp owns and I hate the rooftops on banks in high detail. Wtf is the point?

RSN: Zammyftw ^^The girl that ruined music.

I don't use high detail simply because my old computer couldn't handle it and now I'm just so used to clicking on the low detail button that I do it every time haha.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

before, i think it took longer to wait for runescape to load, so i would use low detail. theres music on low detail now, and its supposed to be faster...

Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)

There are no roofs in low detail :D

I use low detail because it doesn't show the roofs of the bank and other buildings. Without the roof on you can select the use-quickly option of the bank booth before you enter the building, which saves clicks during repeated trips.

This is exactly why I play in low detail as well. As far as I am concerned low detail is better than high detail.

Double ditto. I like to be able to see what is in a building when I walk past, and I also like to be able to click on objects (eg. bank booth) before I get there. It's waaaaay more efficient playing that way. :D Plus the start up music is annoying. :x

I play on high detail when I am the college but when I am at home I use low detail mode. It runs a lot smoother on the ancient computer that we have there. :P

No matter what computer you have and however good it is...running in low detail is always faster, the rendering is much better.

I always use low detail, even though my computer can handle high detail, always quicker with low

Ive always used high detail, ive only tried low detail a few times to see what it's like but there is no difference except low detail had less features.

I never use high detail because it is too hard to find doors and click on items. I found myself swiveling the map too much and just like the ease of seeing what i want and being able to click on it. I miss the music and some of the details, but it is worth it since I no longer need to waste the time moving cam.

i usually play low detail because it prevents lagging and it runs faster then using high detail.

i was born intelligent but education ruined me.....

I play in high detail unless I'm going to be switching worlds often (like when I'm mining rune at the dark beasts or flying through the wild on a clue) I listen to music on my computer and do not want that RS startup music interfering while I'm waiting to get logged in over and over. People have said it can be turned off, but if so I can't find where. I don't use music IN the game... I know how to turn that option off, but it doesn't stop the start up music when logging in using high detail.

No one needs to get their ass on their shoulders about this

Always have. Most likely because it is so convient that the play rs and detail select are right on top of each other?

RIP Michaelangelopolous
Thanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!

Have a nice Runescape day!

I will once in a while play on lwo for the simple look but otherwise hi detail FTW!

Sir, the Panzerschreck squad is blocking the road!

It runs faster than when it is in high detail. I use both, mostly high, but when i am going to fight something strong i will put it on low detail so it doesn't freeze in the middle of battle.

Thanks to Hardwick246 for the sig

i play in low detail because i actually think the game looks better in low detail and i don't know why anyone would listen to the music

high detail adds too many pointless details into the graphics

low detail looks smoother

phat_eddie.png

I click on the low detail, because I like the way the warrior looks. I think the skeleton has a stupid grin on his face, and I don't support that.

I sometimes needlessly throw away Runescape Gold, but I won't pay for a membership.
