"stuck up high levels" What do you think

One of the problems with having any kind of high skill like combat, mining, smithing, runecrafting and whatnot always comes at a cost. Im level 68 combat which isn't that high but I still get asked questions. Im always happy to answer a few simple question like where the nearest bank is and where to get something. Sometimes, I'll throw them 100gp if they will leave me alone. Then sometimes you get those jerks that play other games and always expect people to treat them with respect. The only thing worse than a jerky high level member is a really jerky noob like this:

Me: 58

 

 

 

Them: cool, can you give me free iron ore?

 

 

 

Me: no, you can buy it from me for 50gp each (being nice)

 

 

 

Them: no, I dont have any money cuz I just bought xxxx item/died with money in inventory/need it now/too lazy go to the bank/other excuse

 

 

 

Me: oh

 

 

 

Them: well can I have some free iron ore?

 

 

 

Me: no

 

 

 

Them: go screw a goat (they report me)

 

 

 

Me: (Blockes him)

Im not a stuck up High Level because of 2 reasons:

Atleast 3 times a day, someone always asks me what im wearing and i still always answer.

I'm kinda high level, and I try to answer most people. Pointed out the Knowledge base to someone yesterday. His RS world suddenly widened by several miles. Whenever I get questions, I advise people to make use of player websites/forums, as that is where I myself learn everything about the game. Can't give them the names, though, as it could have me banned :?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I don't respond to beggars, "(xxx) lvl?" (mining, fletching,... depending on what I'm doing), people who follow me and rude people who shamelessly take in the spot where I was mining/ranging/... Especially the last category is bound to get some snappish remarks. So to some, I'm a nice higher level, to others I'm stuck up. As with most high levels, hard to categorise.

80-115 are just people whom i could not honestly care if they were their or getting ran over by a submarine. not that id wish that on any1.

I think that stereotype can go suck a lemon. I've only rarely seen a "stuck up high-level" and I see more of the moderate-low leveled players being stuck up if anything. It's quite annoying that the stuck up high-level stereotype is around. I believe that it was created and has been blow-out of proportion by little kids that think that a high-level's duty is to provide "phr33 st00f" for the inexperienced and younger players. That's just idiotic. I don't believe these high-leveled players put in that much time and effort to give hand-outs. They worked for what they've achieved and because a little kid isn't as motivated to do the same the kid becomes jealous and whips out the phrase that I know I've grown to hate, "You're stuck up."

I generally choose to respond based on how the person talks and not their combat level. If somebody is too lazy to use normal words, then I guess I am too lazy to answer them.

I'm not really high-level, but I am f2p so i get a LOT of questions, probably because I come across as more experienced or something. I usually use short answers like "use the world map" or "that's what the kbase is for." If they keep bugging me sometimes I get mad and try to get them caught behind a door or something. It doesn't make me stuck up, I just don't have time to take people to Varrock like 10 times a day or type exact descriptions of where to go.

Higher levels have every right to be stuck up! We bring most of the valuable items into the market and do most of the dangerous tasks such as dagonnoth kings and the kalphite queen!

I reply to lower levels 90% of the time to any questions they have for me just because I'm a nice guy :D But if they get on my nerves or ask for free stuff, I'll still answer them and then add them to ignore

I get called a stuck up high level all the time... but if I feel like arguing that ever I make sure to let 'em know I was just as stuck up at level 70...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I use what little time I have on RS (well, used to have more but now little) to enjoy myself and relax, not play 21 questions with people I run into. I tried to be nice and social before, and answer questions if I could, but that always leads to more questions and/or begging...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If not that, then the people try to bug you to buy/sell stuff you have no interest in. Just the other day some kid I don't know PMed me when I turned chat on "Hey you sell ranarr weeds 6k each?" Seriously, why would somebody with 8o+ herblore SELL herbs instead of making pots. It just makes me wish people would think about what they're asking before bugging people.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So yeah, I get called a jerk all the time for ignoring stupid stuff I see in chat or PMs... nobody's ever grateful for the offers I give for free spots on ignore list.

Most times I am friendly and answer all questions. I see no reason to be rude on the game. If I don't want to be bothered I just shut all chat off it's as simple as that. If I feel myself getting cranky on the game I just log out and don't play the game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I do have people on my ignore list for a few different reasons asking for my pass and being rude in general will place them on my ignore list.
