Both are one dimensional skills that take no skill to level, just time and patience.

Farming is only expensive if you power-farm it with high level trees. The problem with Farming is that other than the Cape, there is no incentive to power-farm the skill. Having a higher Farming level does not decrease growing time, lessen your chance for disease, or increase your yield. That's the reason why you there are only a few level 99 Farmers.

Slayer is harder. I think Farming would be hard if you do allotments the whole way, but that would take years.

it's a pain to find sellers for the kinds of seeds you would need..., not to mention earn the cash you need.

I agree with everything but except that farming does take time - it's the only skill affected by real-life time. I mean it'd be a lot easier if i could weed, compost, plant, pick, and repeat over and over (like wcing or herblore or hunter, etc).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In some ways farming is a lot like mining.... If you only had about two dozen rune rocks to level on all around runescape that spawned every 30 mins or more... :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I just got 85 slayer yesterday (farming is at 87) and slayer was waaaay tougher to level. The only reason folks may say farming is harder is because it isn't as interesting / profitable as slayer is. Without a doubt though, slayer is the tougher skill to get to 99.

agility- very hard the first 80 levels, still hard after 80+ but more xp per hour

 

 

 

slayer- very hard, people have different views on this, its easier if you are high combat and can invest in the cannon balls/guthans to train it, 0ddball was first to 85 slayer and was one of my friends, he was already stocked up.. he got 85 around 2 weeks after its release

rc- very hard and slow xp but its impossible to not make a profit from this, even though its slow to train, you make so much money from rc per hour

its a persons opinion on which the hardest skill is, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

 

 

 

overall slayer is hardest for everyone mostly because in order for slayer to be easy, you have to be 110+ combat with lots of supplies and every other skill you can be level 3 combat, the time it takes to get 110+ combat adds on to the difficulty of slayer

I know! Sure it costs money but heck, MTK you get free seeds anyways. Besides to plant on all the tree and fruit tree patches is only a half an hour activity.

Slayer definitely, there's nothing challenging about Farming really -- if you have the money, you just buy the seeds, plant them, and wait for them to grow. :-s

I agree that rc'ing is one of the toughest, at top speed it's about 16-18k per hour going through the abyss. 91 rc actually doesn't increase the amount of xp per hour though, unless you choose to hire runners. It just increases the profit of running through the abyss :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Using runners the xp per hour is apparently somewhere around 35k xp per hour.

ida love to seen all you train attack/def/strength on rsc then lol considering leveling one combat skill on rsc is the same as slayer on rs2

Has anyone forgotten the oh so favourite of mine, runecrafting? That has got to be the hardest hands down. Even with world 66 its 35k an hour at peak times, let alone the costs.

Honestly, you can buy farming through the purchasing of seeds. You can't really buy slayer. Slayer wins.

Although for the actual question (the way you stated it), I'd say slayer is harder. Why? Because putting aside having to make all the gp required for 99 farming, all you have to do is spend under an hour a day checking health on trees/harvesting and you can get 99. In addition, you can get many seeds practically for free via your kingdom. So the actual skill itself is not hard at all.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But if you are including the aspect of having to make probably 100m to pay for 99 farming, then I'd say they're about equal. They both take several months to get 99, both require patience, and a lot of work (whether it's training the skill itself, or making gp in order to train that skill).

hmm between the two, i'd really say that slayer is harder just since i'm not really all that interested in killing monsters that an npc is telling me to kill for months. also it feels to much like leveling in rsc... oh, and i have horrid luck at drops so... lol?

Seriously farming is not a very hard skill if you are able to buy it of course. Slayer should be the hardest skill followed by rc (yes you can buy it but still very slow).
