Introduction

Notice If you you're looking for a picture but it only says "image" then you might have to refresh the page for it to appear Notice

Welcome to my Slayer Guide! In this guide you will learn different techniques to kill creatures, what equipment and inventories to use for specific tasks, how to use Slayer Points efficiently and what tasks are recommended to block. You will see the best methods that you can use as a Slayer to complete a task of which none of them involve Guthans.

This guide is only going to focus on the Slayer Master, Duradel, because he assigns the best possible tasks. If you're planning on using this guide then I suggest you have a high Mage/Summoning level and can afford upper class equipment.

If you think there is anything wrong with the guide or you are confused about something, feel free to ask and I will reply. Good luck Slayers!

1. Important Slayer Quests

Quests in alphabetical order. There are quite a few that you should do, but you don't really have to. Each quest unlocks a certain addition to Slaying and each with their own pros and cons. Think carefully about which quests you decide to do.

The Path of Glouphrie

Whatever you do, don't complete this quest. If you do the quest then it will unlock Warped Tortoise and Warped Terror Bird which are 2 of the worst tasks you can get.

Dealing With Scabaras

Another quest you won't want to do. If you do the quest then you'll unlock Scarabite which are a bad one as well.

Barbarian Training

Completing this will give you access to Mithril Dragons and an area of single combat Waterfiends. I don't reccommend you do this quest unless you really want a chance of a Dragon Full Helm or you like Waterfiends and don't want to kill them in the multiway combat Chaos Tunnels.

Mage Training Arena

It's not a necessary addition but it can definately help. You may want to do the Mage Training Arena to unlock the ability to use Bones To Peaches. However, you can use Tablets whether you have unlocked the spell or not.

Fairy Tale Part 2

Make sure that you only start this task. The Fairy Rings come in handy to get around, but if you finish the quest then you'll unlock Goraks. Although you don't really need to block them, they're not the best experience out there. Use your Ignore List for Fairy Ring Locations.

Desert Treasure

If you can use the Lunar Spellbook Swap, then the Ancient Teleports which are unlocked from this will come in very handy. The quest also unlocks an area of Dust Devils and Fire Giants inside of the Smoke Dungeon.

Dream Mentor

If you did Lunar Diplomacy then do this one as well because it unlocks section 2 of the Lunar Spellbook which has the Spellbook Swap spell.

Dwarf Cannon

Completing this quest allows you to use the Dwarf Cannon, the best Slayer weapon out there.

Ghosts Ahoy

If you can't use Spellbook Swap to use Karyl Teleport then the Ectophial is handy for getting to the Slayer Tower.

Eadgar's Ruse

This quest unlocks the Trollheim Teleport spell which is a fast way to get to the God Wars Dungeon.

Horror From The Deep

Completing this quest allows you access to the Dagannoths in a very large cannonable area inside of the Lighthouse Dungeon. It also gives you the ability to create Prayer Books.

Karamja Achievement Diary

If you have a lower Magic level and decide not to use Lunar Magic, then you might want to complete this diary for the Karamja Gloves. They can teleport you straight to Shilo Village so you can get an assignment from Duradel. This is the fastest way in the game that you can get there which saves a lot of time rather than Chartering a ship and then Carting there.

Legacy of Seergaze

Completing this quest will unlock an area of cannonable Bloodvelds inside of the Meiyerditch Caverns.

Lunar Diplomacy

Completing this quest unlocks the Lunar Spellbook which has the NPC Contact spell, the fastest possible contact to a Slayer Master in the game. It also unlocks large area of cannonable Suqahs.

Mournings End Part 2

It's up to you whether or not to complete this quest. Even if you just start it, then you unlock access to Dark Beasts. They are very good experience, stay aggressive forever and drop the Dark Bow, but take a pretty long time to kill.

Recipe For Disaster

Doing this quest will unlock the Barrows Gloves if you complete the whole thing. They are very useful because of their bonuses.

Rum Deal

Completing this quest unlocks the Holy Wrench item. It will save you a lot of money in the long run and it will give you more Prayer per dose of a potion.

Shilo Village Quest

Obviously one that you need to do, otherwise you can't use Duradel.

Smoking Kills

The best Slayer related quest you can do. It unlocks a whole new Pollniveach Dungeon as well as the Slayer Points system which is explained in section 3. Slayer Points.

Waterfall Quest

Completing this quest unlocks an area of Fire Giants.

What Lies Below

Doing this quest will unlock the Chaos Tunnels, a very large dungeon with quite a few Slayer creatures in multiway combat.

2. Cannon Facts

Most people think that using a Cannon is too expensive which isn't completely true. If you follow this guide correctly then you'll manage to Cannon the appropriate Slayer tasks and still make money. Don't forget that if the message box ever says that the Cannon has almost decayed, you pick it up and place it down again, otherwise you'll have to go back and get another from Nulodion.(Free)

60262962ui2.png

A Cannon is a huge importance for any Slayer, they will get tasks done much quicker and more efficiently than you would without one. They are not insanely expensive to use and the tasks that you use it on will repay a portion of what you spent by using the Cannon on the task. The assignments that you'll be using the Cannon for should you decide to use one are: Aberrant Spectres, Black Demons, Bloodvelds, Dagannoths, Dark Beasts, Kalphites and Suqahs. When using the Cannon you should go into a more populated world because the creatures will spawn even faster there, resulting in faster tasks and experience.

Don't forget that you can't use your Cannon in the Chaos Tunnels or at the Kalphite Queen.

3. Slayer Points

Slayer Points are unlocked after you complete the quest Smoking Kills. When using Duradel, after you've completed 5 Slayer tasks every 1 task you do after that will give you 15 points, every 10th task will give you 75 and every 50th task will give you 225. This repeats itself. She offers a variety of options when purchasing with your Slayer Points, but the Slayer Helmet and Canceling tasks are the most beneficial for Slaying.

50761770bl2.png

It's up to you, but you should block any tasks you don't like before you get the Slayer Helmet. After you have blocked tasks and have gotten the Slayer Helmet, then you should save your points for being able to cancel a task you don't like in the future. Don't waste all of your points on the Slayer Experience reward, you'll find it very useful to have spare points to cancel a task because you can get very bored of a certain task after a while and will want the freedom to cancel it for a different one. Make sure to bring the runes for NPC Contact or the Karamja Gloves while going to Sumona if you're going to Cancel a task, that way you can get another assignment from Duradel quickly. With Slayer Points, the old method of "Burthorping a task" to get a new one is no longer suggested since that will reset your Slayer Points back to 0.

4. Tasks to Block

Below is a list of recommended monsters to block from the majority of other players and my own personal experiences with them. Just remember though that the choice is up to your personal preference, think it through carefully before you block tasks. Decide which task you can afford to do, if you like or dislike the monster for no reason or if you're in search of Charms to raise your Summoning. If you already blocked 4 tasks then you could always just cancel a task you don't like by spending 30 Slayer Points with Sumona. You can always unblock a task at any time by going to Sumona, but you are not refunded the Slayer Points that you used previously.

Black Dragons

Very good money if you bank the Black Dragonhides. If you kill the Baby Black Dragons in the Chaos Tunnels then it can be okay experience, but they only drop Baby Dragon Bones and Charms. In the end though, they are slow experience no matter how you kill them compared to other tasks you can be assigned

Hellhounds

These aren't bad for experience, however, their only drops are Charms and Clue Scrolls. They can be a good money maker, especially if you do a Clue Scroll everytime you get one from them, but that would slow down training. The area where they are located is also often crowded and hard to get one for yourself to attack.

Scarabites

No information because I am not able to get them and only know from the majority of players that they are bad.

Skeletal Wyverns

An all around horrible task, if you have any space left then you'll want to block these. They are a poor money maker and are insufficient to kill. The only good thing they have to offer is that they can drop the Granite Legs and Draconic Visage.

Steel Dragons

Not very good experience because of their high Defense, but have very good drops if you're looking to make money. Due to the area that these are in you should block this task, it's slow enough already but with only 4 spawns being fought over from other players, you'll be lucky to kill any of them.

Warped Terrorbirds

No information because I am not able to get them and only know from the majority of players that they are bad.

Waterfiends

This task is an odd task compared to the others. They have the highest Crimson Charm drop rate in the game which is good if you're looking to raise your Summoning, but in order to kill it efficiently you must use a Crush attack style with your weapon. They're not very good for experience but their drops are on the other hand are pretty good .

6. Say No To Guthans

Guthans, one of the most overrated Barrows sets, an unnecessary burden that many use for Slayer tasks which takes up 4 inventory spaces. If you follow my guide you will never require Guthans. The setup that I'll show you later on in this guide will make you last an entire task without needing Guthans at all. Believe me, I am 99 Slayer and I've never once owned Guthans. The only thing that it does is slow down your Slayer Training because it hits lower, slower and less frequenty than the Abyssal Whip. With the addition of a few Summoning Famliars, Bones To Peaches and the Saradomin Godsword, it makes Guthans even more redundant than it already was. Even by using the low leveled Familiar, the Spinner, you can get a task done in one trip without Guthans.

7. Bones To Peaches

To use this spell you will need to have either unlocked the spell or have Tablets that you can make yourself or simply buy them from the Grand Exchange. Even if you are using Lunar Magic you can use Bones To Peaches because of the Tablets, so there will be no need to use Spellbook Swap and cast the spell yourself. If you do decide to use this spell then you won't be needing any healing Familiars for any of the tasks that I have listed below. The tasks that you might want to consider using Bones To Peaches on are: Bloodvelds, Dagannoths, Dark Beasts, Dust Devils, Fire Giants, Greater Demons and Hellhounds. Each Peach heals 8HP.

51896039nc9.png

51896039nc9.d1f7c74a15.jpg

The idea of using Bones To Peaches can be used on Greater Demon and Fire Giant tasks in the Brimhaven Dungeon because the Wild Dogs drop Bones which can be used for it. This is the same for killing Fire Giants in the Waterfall Dungeon because in the room beside them are Skeletons which drop Bones as well. Many people find the Wild Dogs annoying, but how many have realized they can actually come in handy?

8. Utilizing Summoning

I will only be mentioning the Familiars that are useful for Slayer and how to use them properly in this section. As I'm sure you know, the Bunyip is generally the most useful one of them all. However, it's not always needed. Infact, you can often do a task in 1 trip without a Bunyip or any other healing "device" and use a different Familiar to get it done faster.

Void Spinner

Level: 34

Information: Heals you by 1HP every 15 seconds. Useful for pretty much any task that you're not using Protection Prayers on other than Dark Beasts.

[hide=Spirit Terrorbird level 52]This Familiar is very useful for getting to locations quickly because its special restores run energy. If you're using it throughout your task then you should know that it can carry 12 items as well. This Familiar is most useful for combat level 127+ players for Greater Demon tasks at Brimhaven Dungeon to run around killing them since Wild Dogs won't attack them.

clip0151lb4.gif[/hide]

Smoke Devil

Level: 61

Information: Special Attack does a maximum of 8 damage to 6 nearby enemies and can cast a Fire Spell by rick clicking it. This Familiar doesn't do much damage, but it can be a little helpful, it's sort of a crappier version of the Forge Regent.

War Tortoise

Level: 67

Information: Carries 18 items and its Special raises your Defence by 8. More useful than using an Excalibur Special to raise Defence because the War Tortoise can use its Special more often. However, you will not be able to have a healing Familiar out, but don't forget that you could always just use Bones To Peaches.

[hide=Bunyip level 68]Upgrade From: Void Spinner

Heals you by 2HP every 15 seconds which is double the Void Spinner. Special allows you to eat Raw Fish if you have the cooking level for that fish which is extremely useful for Waterfiend tasks. But the Bunyip is useful for pretty much any task you're not using Protection Prayers on other than Dark Beasts.

clip0223cp6.gif[/hide]

[hide=Forge Regent level 76]Upgrade From: Smoke Devil

Upon rick clicking it can do a Fireball Special which takes 2 Summoning points. The area that it hits is huge! The Specials damage is not so useful because it often hits 0s, but it basically lures any monsters in multiway areas towards you, even ones that you can't see. Ontop of that, it's also an okay fighter because of its speed and decent hits. It appears to have 2 different random attacks for its Fireball; the one attack is a tiny Fireball which hits a single enemy for a maximum of 20 damage while the other Fireball is the one used for the luring technique.

clip0080cb9.gif[/hide]

[hide=Elemental Titans level 79]Upgrade From: Bunyip, War Tortoise and Fruit Bat

This Familiar will heal you, even beyond 100HP and raise your Defence. If you've previously been using Excalibur or a War Tortoise to raise your Defence then you should no longer use it since an Elemental Titan will raise it by even more. A Super Defence potion raises Defence by 20% of your level which is more than an Elemental Titan, however, the potion doesn't heal you so you decide whether or not you want to bring a Super Defence potion and any healing Familiar or just the Elemental Titan itself.

clip0208bn2.gif[/hide]

9. Slaying The Creatures

Some ways are better than others to Slayer certain creatures, and some creatures have different multiple ways that they can be Slayed efficiently. Below is a list of different ways to kill them and what equipment you'll need. Teleports and Familiars are not included in the pictures so you may decide yourself on how to you plan to get to a certain location and which Familiar you wish to use, simply remove food from your inventory to make room. See Tip.its Getting Around Guide for any information you need on getting somewhere. You can bring more than 1 Familiar for a task if you know how to use them right. Choose carefully! If possible, upgrade the Familiar you are using if you have the Summoning level for it. See section 8. Utilizing Summoning

By all means go ahead and change equipment and inventories to your own preference, but if you're going to use different equipment or inventory set-ups then make sure it's not a drastic change from what is suggested below, like using Rune instead of Torags or using Monkfish instead of Pineapple Pizzas.

The equipment set-ups that have a Ring of Wealth shown in them are suggested to use the ring because they already drop more many Rune items without it, so with it they will drop them even more. Any equipment set-up that doesn't show a Ring of Wealth is suggested to use any other sort of combat enhancing ring because they are harder tasks.

The Charm symbol beside a creature indicates the most dropped Charm of that particular creature and a restriction symbol means that particular creature drops no Charms.

72615547jf0.pngAberrant Spectres

[hide=Pollniveach Dungeon Method]This is the quickest way to do Aberrant Spectres as a task. The good thing is that because they drop Herbs so frequently, you'll make back most of what you spent on Cannonballs! If you don't have a Slayer Helmet then you'll want to use a Nose Peg and Salve Amulet(e).

Pollniveach Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Forge Regent or Macaw, for luring and attacking with Range or getting better Herbs .

spectres1jw0.pngclip0079cj4.gif[/hide]

[hide=Slayer Tower Method]Suggested Familiar: Bunyip or Macaw, for healing or getting better Herbs.

spectres2nq9.png[/hide]

95171118lo2.pngAbyssal Demons

[hide=Slayer Tower Method]These are pretty straight forward to kill, they're weak for their level. You just go there and kill them, make sure to bring a Nosepeg or Slayer Helmet to get past the Aberrant Spectres safely.

Slayer Tower Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

[hide=Evil Chicken's Lair Method][/hide]

[hide=Chaos Tunnels Method][/hide]

54182532mt6.pngBloodvelds

[hide=Slayer Tower Method]Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

bloodveldsul8.png[/hide]

72615547jf0.pngDagannoths

[hide=Lighthouse Method]Killing them in the Lighthouse with a Cannon is amazingly fast experience, the fastest in the game actually. You can finish one of these tasks in a matter of minutes with a Cannon! They don't drop anything good, but make sure to pick up their Charms while Cannoning. Make sure to open any Caskets that you find too because they may have a Half Key inside of it.

Lighthouse Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip or Forge Regent, for healing or luring.

dagstz7.pngclip0065yz2.gif[/hide]

63166544rh1.pngDark Beasts

[hide=Light Temple Method]This task takes forever to do, but they're good experience and require almost no paying attention because they're aggressive forever. A Cannon isn't necessary but it'll speed up the task quite a bit more. This is one of the only monsters in the game that drops Blue Charms more often than other Charms and if you're lucky you might get a Dark Bow drop to make up for the cost of doing the task. A healing Familiar is usually needed for healing because the Cannon attacks them before they attack you, which makes their first attack a magic one. You could also use Bones To Peaches Tablets rather than a healing Familiar.

Light Temple Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing

darkbeastsyb2.pngclip0108zp1.gif[/hide]

95171118lo2.pngDust Devils

[hide=Chaos Tunnels Method]Killing Dust Devils in the Chaos Tunnels can be very good Slayer experience. They're not very strong and can be killed in multiway. If you don't have a Slayer Helmet then don't forget to wear a Facemask!

Chaos Tunnels Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip or Forge Regent, for healing or luring.

my.php?image=16805373lm4.png

clip0098mn7.gif[/hide]

72615547jf0.pngFire Giants

[hide=Chaos Tunnels/Smoke Dungeon Method]Killing these in the Chaos Tunnels requires higher Defence because you're attacked by more than 1 until they are no longer aggressive. I suggest you use the Bunyip unless you're very high Defence. If you plan on killing them in the Smoke Dungeon and don't have a Slayer Helmet, don't forget to wear a Facemask!

Chaos Tunnels Guide

Smoke Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip or Forge Regent, for healing or luring.

firegiants1lv7.pngclip0026wg6.gif[/hide]

[hide=Waterfall Dungeon Method]This is the easiest location to kill them at. In another nearby room are Skeletons that can be killed to use their bones for the Bones to Peaches spell. However, this area of Fire Giants is often very crowded. You'll need Glarials Amulet and a Rope to get into this dungeon.

Waterfall Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

firegiants2um6.pngclip0180er6.gif[/hide]

[hide=Brimhaven Dungeon Method]firegiants3gd7.png[/hide]

Gargoyles

[hide=Chaos Tunnels/Slayer Tower Method]A generally easy monster to kill in either location as long as you wear armor with good defence. You must use a Rock Hammer to finish them off.

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

Goraks

[hide=God Wars Dungeon/Fairy Ring Method]Suggested Familiar: ???[/hide]

95171118lo2.pngGreater Demons

[hide=Brimhaven Dungeon Method]This dungeon is fairly far away so a quick way to get there is with the Spirit Terrorbird. However, In the same area as the Greater Demons are also Wild Dogs. These are never aggressive towards anyone 127+ in Combat. There are 3 general spawns where you should kill them in here, but if you leave a spawn for another one then the Wild Dogs will become aggressive again!

Brimhaven Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip or Spirit Terrorbird, for healing or getting around quickly.

greatersto4.pngclip0033qi7.gif[/hide]

72615547jf0.pngHellhounds

[hide=Taverly Dungeon Method]Taverly is pretty much the best place to kill Hellhounds. It's often pretty packed here from Clue Hunters though. You may also want to bring an Antipoison because sometimes a Poison Spider may attack you.

Taverly Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

hellhoundssk2.pngmy.php?image=clip0186it0.gif[/hide]

54182532mt6.pngIron/Steel Dragons

[hide=Brimhaven Dungeon Method]These are the only dragons that drop the rare Dragon Plateskirt and Dragon Platelegs. The Iron Dragon tasks are the better of the 2 because of the large amount of spawns and that they're easier to kill than their steel bretherin. Don't forget an Anti Dragonfire Shield!

Brimhaven Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Spirit Terrorbird, for getting around quickly.

ironsbs3.pngclip0075zc7.gif[/hide]

38809837gi7.pngKalphites

[hide=Kalphite Lair Method]This task goes by pretty fast with a Cannon and they're not very strong either. You usually don't even use up all of your food.

Kalphite Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

kalphitesvd0.pngclip0141nn7.gif[/hide]

54182532mt6.pngMithril Dragons

[hide=Ancient Cavern Method]Duradel only assigns 3-5 of these which makes it a very quick task. If you can't use Vengeance than you'll have to make 2 trips rather than one. The Prayers that you'll be using to fight them are Protect From Mage and Piety. Make sure to use Vengeance whenever you can and drink more of your potions when your stats are down to 115. I suggest that after you kill one, you wait for it to spawn in that location again so your Vengeance has time to be able to be casted again.

Ancient Cavern Guide

Suggested Familiar: Any elemental Titan, for raising Defence and Hitpoints.

38288366zt3.pngclip0103yu5.gif[/hide]

95171118lo2.pngNechryaels

[hide=Chaos Tunnels/Slayer Tower Method]You'll definately need to use good armor and a healing Familiar. These things will almost always drain you of your food because of the Death Spawns which will hit you the most because of their magic-based melee attacks.

Chaos Tunnels Guide

Suggested Familiar: Bunyip, for healing.

Scarabites

[hide=Scarabas Temple Dungeon Method][/hide]

27282210gi6.pngSpiritual Mages

[hide=God Wars Dungeon Method]This task isn't dangerous as long as you're wearing an item with the symbol of Zamorak to protect you from his minions attacking you aggressively. The most dangerous part is getting there because you have to run past Thrower Trolls, Wolfs and various monsters in the God Wars Dungeon. When you jump into the river to enter Zamoraks Chamber, your Prayer and Special bar will be instantly drained. You'll want to use Protection Prayers against Spiritual Mages because they hit high and often. If you plan on bringing a Familiar, do not summon it until you've jumped into the river, because Familiars are not allowed to follow you into it.

God Wars Dungeon Guide

Suggested Familiar: None

spiritmagesqb4.pngclip0039cv2.gif[/hide]

Suqahs

[hide=Lunar Isle Method]They're not incredibly strong, but if you use a Cannon then just make sure you pay attention because they attack with Magic and Melee. You'll almost never use all of your food killing these so you can use any Familiar you want. I would personally use the Talon Beast because its magic special can attack the Suqahs on the lower cliff, if you're killing them in the snowy section.

Lunar Isle Guide

Suggested Familiar: Any

[hide=Ancient Cavern Method]IGNORE THIS SECTION IT WILL BE FIXED Do not Summon a Familiar before you head into the Whirlpool because they cannot enter with you. You'll usually encounter a Brutal Green Dragon upon entering, but it's not much of a threat because it will only be attacking you for a second. Killing Waterfiends aren't very good experience, but they drop an awful lot of Crimson Charms compared to other creatures. You'll want to use a Crush attack style or you won't be able to kill them efficiently.

10. Useful Items

Using any of the items that are listed below, the inventory for the tasks that are listed above may have to change slightly. Make sure that whatever you decide to replace of the above item(s) for the below item(s) will not drastically change your set-up. Also, don't bring 2 of the same type of things on your task by accident upon adjusting inventories, such as a bringing a Super Strength potion as well as a Dragon Battleaxe or Excalibur and an Elemental Titan.

63897044mb5.pngSaradomin Godsword57592945rr9.png

This is basically upgraded Guthans in a more expensive sword form. Guthans is obviously unnecessary if you're going to use this. However, I suggest you only use the Saradomin Godsword for its special to raise your Health and Prayer because it is a slow and inaccurate weapon to train with. You won't be needing any healing Familiars if you're using this either.

87630416vx3.pngDragon Battleaxe43495627rs9.png

If you plan on using this then you won't be needing any Super Strength potions anymore, so replace them with this. Do keep in mind though that the special attack will also lower your Defense, so don't use it on tasks that are too strong for you.

67675044jr8.pngDragonfire Shield93597607aq4.png

One of the best defensive shields in the entire game. It costs a lot but if you can afford it then you may not need any Familiars to finish a lot of available tasks if you purchase one. If you've previously been using a Rune Defender then you may want to think about using this shield instead because you will last longer on a task, whereas a Rune Defender kills faster but uses more food .

39394540bv3.pngSlayer Ring65206874ul3.png

It depends on personal preference whether or not you want to use this. It will take up your ring slot but you won't need an Enchanted Gem to check your progress because the ring can do that for you. The ring also teleports you to a few useful Slayer locations. See Guide. If you're using Lunar Magic then the only useful teleport location with the ring is Pollniveach because with Lunar Magic you can Spellbook Swap to Ancient Magicks and cast Karyll teleport to Canifis rather than using the ring for teleporting to the Slayer Tower. Any of the other teleports that the ring offers are all useless for using Duradel.

25540448pq5.pngExcalibur36633210xy4.png

A useful item for weaker tasks. You won't be needing Super Defence potions with this so replace them with this. The Special will raise your Defence, but not by as much as a Super Defence potion, which is why you should use this for weaker tasks. If you're not using your special on anything else, then you might as well use it on this and save yourself a Super Defence potion.

Nice guide, even if its unfinished, its still very detailed, seems useful. Though, wouldn't guthans pay itself off after all the food costs and ect? I'm currently using baskets of strawberrys as food since i lost my guthans, but I still want to get it back. Oh, and on that note, might want to add straberry abskets on your food list too. Heal 30, 1 space, 6 hp per strawberry.

I must say this is a great guide for beginners.

But... thats as far as this guide goes in my opinion. I disagree with much of your inventories, tasks to block, ect. Charms are extremely valuable, and Waterfiends are decently fast xp.

No super str results in a lot lower xp for it's cost.

Almost every single image has a Super Strength or Dragon Battle Axe in it. Just realized after you mentioned it, I forgot to put a Super Strength image in a few of them.

The reason Waterfiends on on my personal blocking list are because if you don't do any of those quests I mentioned, then you have very little bad tasks to choose from. My other last bad choice to pick was Steel Dragons or Hellhounds, but Hellhounds aren't that block worthy and I have only gotten 1 Steel task since the quest came out.

Because you have to fight them with a Crush Attack. This guide is melee only remember, I can change that and add some Range Guides to it as well but I've only ever meleed for Slayer so I can't really give advice on Ranging.

I updated the Blocked Tasks part a tad, now I'm going to work. When I get back I'll work to finish the Summoning and Blocked sections completely.

This is a great guide, and it is pleasing to see one so fully detailed after the release of the point system. I am looking forward to using this and seeing it fully completed, but I had a few questions:

*Black Demons are suggested to block in this guide, you mentioned the low drop rate. Unless there has been a change I am unaware of, the ones on the Chaos Tunnels drop crimsons really frequently, something like a 40% drop rate which is pretty good. Blocking tasks is personal preference of course, so opinions differ on everything.

*Guthans is also not recommended in the guide. I am 99 Defence, and often fight with over +300 melee defence but some tasks still hit quite hard so I need Guthans as a back-up for my Bunyip. I don't own an SGS so I'd be eating a lot of food otherwise, I still think it holds some value for certain tasks.

Thanks for the great guide and good luck finishing it. :D

I am surprised that Axe Man Jack's guide hasn't covered this yet; i almost didn't click this guide because i like his so much =S.

However, it's very well-laid-out, easy-to-use, and simple. I think you thoroughly deserve the first 10/10 i've ever given on Tip.It. Congratulations.

Black Demons are actually a pretty good task as far as experience goes, but they rarely drop any Charms

Excuse me? Go the the Chaos Tunnels and kill them there for an hour, you'll be surprised by the amount of Crimsons Charms they drop and others!

Alright, I'll check that out. I've only ever killed them in the Taverly Dungeon because I'd assume they would drop the same things. I'll check that out later on.

Edit:

Blocked Tasks list is now pretty much complete.

::' Thanks, I still have quite a bit I want to add though. I don't count on it being completely done for another 1-3 weeks, and I am taking into consideration what others are saying. I tried Black Demons at Chaos Tunnels and they do drop Crimsons which I didn't know. I'll also be updating mine unlike AMJ lol.

Go do legacy of seergaze and add a cannon + mutated bloodveld. Pray melee unless you have a death wish.

Ya I just heard about that yesterday. I havn't done a quest in a long time except Smoking Kills so I'll do that one soon.

Scarabites are very good... Check out Zarfot's guide on the RSOF, I think it's the best guide out there (better than AMJ's... which is hard to top)

http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?22,23,733,55654062

Z. Scabarites

Thanks to 1 B L 0 O D for supplying some of the information in this section, including the cannon spot for the "Safe" method.

Amount assigned: Duradel, 40-59?; Sumona, 30-59?

Hitpoints: Varies

Location: East of Sophanem, Sophanem Dungeon

Approximate charm drop percentages-

Gold: 8%

Green: 3%

Crimson: 27%

Blue: 2%

Contrary to popular belief, Scabarites are absolutely worth doing and are one of the best tasks you can be assigned, in my opinion. If I could have any task of 10,000 monsters, I would hesitate to take Abyssal Demons or Bloodvelds over Scabarites. Scabarites are fast slayer xp, even if you use the safer method (see below), and drop tons of crimson charms.

There are two methods I would like to mention: One is a fairly safe method that gives fast slayer xp and fast crimson charms, and the other is a dangerous method that gives insanely fast slayer xp and faster crimson charms than Waterfiends.

Both of these methods involve cannon and melee in the dungeon under Sophanem. The Scabarites near the swamp do not drop charms, so are not worth it to kill. When you get a task of Scabarites, use a Pharaoh's sceptre to teleport to Pyramid Plunder (top option on the sceptre) and bank at the bank in Sophanem.

1. "Safe" Method

For the "Safe" method, I suggest praying Protect from Melee, since only the Locust Riders will be attacking you, but they would hit hard enough and frequently enough to require a lot of healing, even in addition to the cooked bass that is dropped! I do not suggest using Piety for this method since your cannon does much of the work, the Locust Riders can only walk up to you at a limited speed, and you do not need the +25% defence bonus.

Use the typical melee equipment with a Proselyte plate and legs.

Suggested inventory-

A teleport

Dragon dagger(p++)

Holy wrench

Tinderbox

Bullseye lantern (lit)

1 energy potion

Cannon and Cannonballs

2 super attacks or Zamorak brews

2 super strength

4-7 prayer pots

Food in extra space

(Familiar: Combat familiar)

Once ready, go down the ladder from the bank. Run west, avoiding/disabling the [bleep]e traps, and go down the ladder. Turn on Protect from Magic, then run south a few steps, then run northwest until you reach another ladder, and go up it. Go south avoiding wall traps, pitfalls, and pushers, and go down the ladder.

If you fall in a pit, then you will appear in the room you need to be in. If that happens, just run south.

Set up your cannon one square west and five squares north of the ladder and stand one square west of cannon base. Notice that only melee locusts will attack you because you are south of the "roaming" range of the mages. Therefore, your cannon will kill rangers and mages far out in the room, but they will not attack you. Only go north into the range of the Scarab Mages if you see good drops like crimson charms, since they can hit hard and also extinguish your lantern (that's what the tinderbox is for :)).

Although the Scabarites in this location may seem hard to get too, it actually can take under two minutes to get from Sophanem bank to the correct location. Once I knew the correct path, I was able to get from the bank screen in Sophanem to the correct location, with my cannon set up, in 105 seconds.

With maxed stats, about 350 kills (31.5k slayer xp) can be gotten per hour with this method.

2. Dangerous Method

If you've tried the method I just described, you may noticed that you're just kind of hiding near the edge of the room. It works well, but you can get much faster xp by setting up your cannon in the middle of the room.

Wear the typical melee equipment with a high-melee defence top, bottom, and shield, such as Bandos and a Dragonfire shield.

Suggested inventory-

A teleport

Dragon dagger(p++) or Saradomin Godsword

Holy wrench

Lantern

Tinderbox

Cannon and Cannonballs

1 super set

3-6 prayer pots

High-healing food in extra space.

(Familiar: Beast of Burden with extra food or a Healer. You WILL get hit a lot here)

Go to the same location, but set up your cannon 7 squares south and 1 square west of the northern ladder. Pray Protect from Range and Piety. Even though Piety won't help you kill the Scabarites much faster, you need the +25% defence bonus.

With maxed stats, about 60k slayer xp can be gotten per hour, although you can't really last an hour there without going to get more food, lol. But tasks will only last about 6 minutes.

I usually get about 15+ crimson charms during a 6 minute task, making these extremely fast crimson charms. It could be possible to camp here as an alternative to Waterfiends or Rock Lobsters. With a Unicorn and Saradomin Godsword hopefully you could last a while.

Keep in mind that this IS the "Dangerous" method. I'd suggest having a 5 minute grave and an extra charged Pharaoh's Sceptre banked, just in case.

Love your guide, I plan on getting 85 slayer soon and will definately follow your guide. You are missing some equipment that is very helpful for slayer tasks though.

Dragonfire Shield: Very important because of the huge defence bonuses. It is very expensive (25m), it should be considered a must-have for any "Serious Slayer" who isn't using Guthans.

Karil's Leathertop and Leatherskirt: Since it has much better Magic defence than Black d'hide and not that expensive, you really should get it.

Berserker/Warrior Ring, Ring of Life: Whenever you don't have a Ring of Wealth equipped, it's expected to have something in your ring slot. Seeing as how both of these have stat bonuses (+4 Strength and +4 Slash, respectively), something is better than nothing. However, a Berserker Ring is 2.9m and Warrior Ring is 450k. If you can't afford either of these items, at least wear a Ring of Life.

I also have a question about the equipment you include in your guide: Unholy and Holy books. I believe an Unholy book isn't as helpful for slayer tasks that require prayer because it has significantly lower attack bonuses than a Rune defender. Especially on tasks such as Black Demons and Dark Beasts, you need all the attack you can get. With Aberrant Spectres however, they are a good idea because they don't have that high defence.

There's no reason to have a Holy book for Bloodveld tasks. A Mind shield is maybe 2k on the Grand Exchange and it only requires the completion of Elemental Workshop II. This is a very easy quest, and the shield has +9 magic defence, which is 1 more than a Holy book.

As I said before, great guide.

Best guide I've read in a while, and I like your confidence that slayer can be done without Guthans. Yes, it's very helpful at some places but it is definitely not needed 100% of the time. I try to tell people this but most don't believe me.

Still looks like there's a bit of work to do but so far, so great.

Bookmarked.

It's a really nice guide but I'm still missing some things

for instance: It should be common knowledge that a verac skirt is better than torag or darok legs, since the skirt has a prayer bonus, yet the same defence. The extra prayer is really useful when toggling piety.

Some invents are really off (11 pray pots for cannon aberrants?).

...

(cant remembr it right now, but there was more).

You should add Banshees to the cannonable task list. The Mighty ones (level 90) are great fun to kill, and you almost break even, after you sell the pure essence. Took me about 20 minutes to cannon 150 of them.

Also, ring of wealth doesn't just increase chances of rune drops, there is an article about it on the runescape website website, something about roulette wheels.

If anyone else could provide a link that would help.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

The reason for this is because the above monsters don't really have any drops that are better than Rune, which is what the Ring of Wealth increases chances on. If you used a Ring of Wealth on Iron Dragons then your chance for Dragon drops would be decreased because the Rune chance would be increased. It's been debated whether or not it actually does anything, but believe me, you'll notice a difference in the amount of Rune drops for the above creatures. Dust Devils also drop a lot of Rune items but wouldn't you rather have a chance at a Dragon Chainbody drop?

can someone confirm this?

You aren't listing the fruit bat or the unicorn stallion.

Both are great healing familiars(though the fruit bat doesn't work in the slayer tower :-#

Yeah I'll be adding those as well as others eventually, just a little distracted from the new graphics right now. I like exploring them. :P Went and bought a better computer just so I could run them better.

Could someone tell me what inventories they think are off? The only ones I can think of that might be are ones involving Prayer, and that's because it's dependent on the Prayer level.

And psvstef, it doesn't really need to be proven. All the time I've been Slaying I never noticed any increases for Dragon drops, but have noticed a pretty big difference for Rune.

Bedman, thank you for telling me, I didn't know it had the same defence. I don't want to change every single picture though so I'll mention that.

I really like your guide. it's refreshing to see an updated slayer guide here on tip. i think you should add to the important equipment: slayer ring(s) and combat bracelet (nice teleport to monestary). oh and i'm sure you use restore potions with the battleaxe special right? those are supercheap and a necessity. you should include that.

also, the mutated bloodvelds in the tunnels of Meiyerditch are a good source of slayer xp. so might want to add them to the guide. tipit has a good map of the dungeon in the dungeon maps section. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=meiye ... averns.htm and the cave crawlers in polneavich arent bad for cannoning.

and about the ring of wealth... i only wear 1 when i'm killing things that could drop champion scrolls and i dont even know if it helps that. :P warrior ring is good if you're using whip. and i think you could add the whip as important equipment. also the berserker necklace and obsidian sword are a nice combination. and dont bury the salve amulet (e) just yet. that's also useful equipment.
