[hide=Introduction]Well I originally started this guide because I was bored and no matter how hard I tried, I couldnt find a Range Slaying Guide. Now range slaying isnt the most efficient training in the game for neither slayer nor range. Range slaying is only recommended if you find camping at monsters boring or if you just want to get that slayer level up to own some Abyssal Demons. Another thing is that, in this guide, Ill try to get all the tasks that Summona and Duradel give and try to provide a good method to do that task. Now, since Im not all that good at long introductions, Ill jump straight into the guide.[/hide]

[hide=Requirements]-The general idea of slayer. I will try to explain most things in this guide, but Im not going to hold your hand. I expect you to know certain things.

-A decent range level. You dont expect to kill Abyssal Demons with 50 Range do you? I recommend at least 80 range to use this guide. And preferably 85.

-A little bit of money. Range slaying isnt the most expensive thing in the world. Far from it actually, unless youre using the best equipment.

-A pretty good defense level. To kill things that you cannot safespot, like Abyssal Demons, you need a decent defense to stay alive. I would recommend 70+ Defense, to be able to wear a Veracs Helmet when needed.

-A good slayers house. As in, you should have a House Glory and a portal to Canafis as a bare minimum. Not needed but is highly recommended.

-Teleport Tablets to get around if using NPC Contact.

-A decent Summoning level (68+). This is needed for the Bunyip, which is incredibly useful for tasks that you cannot safespot. An alternative to this is a thousand or so monkfish for tanking and replenishing that supply as it diminishes.

-Basic understanding of how to get to tasks/layout of the Chaos Tunnels.[/hide]

[hide=General Equipment]This is the equipment I recommend having for general tasks, so assume safespotting. The slashes between armour are there to indicate the best option when tanking.

The equipment used is in bold. In order from best equipment to worst:

**Also known as Zamorak Book

***Also known as Guthix Book.

****Also known as Saradomin Book.

*****Contrary to popular belief, the Dragon Gloves from RFD are actually worse than Black Dragonhide Vambs. Dragon Gloves have 2 range attack less than Black Dragonhide Vambs. Not to mention that they protect over a lot.

******Something not a lot of people know is that the Unholy Symbol and the Beads of the Dead (from the Shilo Village Quest) do have Range bonuses. +2 and +1 respectively.

Please note that I do not recommend buying Third Age. If you have that much money buy Armadyl and a hell of a lot of cannonballs. Much better use of your money.[/hide]

[hide=The Most Hated Weapon]Incase you dont know what Im talking about, and most do not; Im talking about the cannon. The cannon is an item you get from the Dwarf Cannon quest, as Im sure all you serious slayers know. The cannon speeds up tasks by a lot, especially tasks like kalphites. Sadly, if you choose to use a cannon, youll probably get barraged by insults. My recommendation is to ignore them and use the cannon anyway. The cannon is quite possibly the best equipment to have for slayer. It gets faster range exp and faster slayer exp, which is what this guide aims for. It might cost a bit, but it really is worth it.[/hide]

[hide=Summoning and Range Slaying]Summoning and Slayer in general just go together. I recommend 68 summoning for the Bunyip. This familiar helps immensely on tasks that you cannot safespot. A Unicorn is a replacement for the Bunyip when you get 88 Summoning though. For multi tasks, like Kalphites, where you dont really need the healing, summoning is still useful. The main example of this is the Geyser Titan. The Geyser Titan is widely regarded as one of the best fighting familiars in the game, a great bonus to that is, that it trains range.[/hide]

[hide=How to get your tasks from Shilo Village]There are many ways to get your tasks from Shilo Village. Here are a few methods for Shilo Village, in order from the best way to the worst.

1) Karajama Gloves 3- I personally do not use this method, but only because of the fact that Im too lazy to do the Achievement Diaries. I highly recommend this method if you have the gloves. Its a good one space teleport that teleports you really close to the Shilo Village Master. Using these gloves lets you do away with the Teleport tablets that you would need if you used Contact NPC.

2) Contact NPC-This spell is something. Its probably my favorite spell. Now I am a bit biased on this, but I do believe that this is another good way to get tasks. Its quick and only requires you to be on the Lunar Spellbook. This has its drawbacks, like not being able to use high alchemy. Although with the Grand Exchange, things more than likely will sell. I just home teleport and then use my house glory to edge, then sell the items. High Alchemy isnt a big loss. Note though: You will have to use tabs to get around if you use this method. Its not a big loss in my opinion though, since tabs are recommended anyway, since the take up less inventory space.

3) Teleport To House (Brimhaven), then cart to Shilo- Pretty self-explanatory. Just move your house to Brimhaven and when you need to get to Shilo, just use a home tab, walk out of the portal, go to the Cart Driver, and there. Youre in Shilo.

4) Teleport To Ardougne, ship to Brimhaven, then cart to Shilo- Again, self-explanatory. Although it is slower than Method 3. I really do not recommend this method, but I thought Id put it in.[/hide]

[hide=How to get your tasks from Pollinveach]Ah Summona, many people will chose to use her for Range Slaying just for the sheer amount of cannonable tasks. Im not one of those people, but it is a valid way to Range Slay. Here are some methods to get to her, from best to worst.

1) The Slayer Ring- Wow. This ring (bought with slayer points), pretty much teleports you directly to Summona. Highly recommended to buy the ring or the ability to make it if you use Summona.

2) Contact NPC- See How to get your tasks from Shilo Village for details.

3)House Teleport, then hop out of the portal to Pollinveach and walk from there. This method does require you to have your house in Pollinveach to work, but it is pretty fast and is a good way to get tasks.

4)With the new Halloween quest, another method has become available. And it just requires you to have your broom enchanted by the Sorceresss Apprentice. Just use the teleport to get to the Sqirk Garden, walk out, buy a shantay pass, take out 200 gold, use the carpet ride to Pollinveach and walk to Summona from there.

5) House teleport, house glory to Al-Kahird, walk from teleport point to Shantay Pass, buy a shanty pass, take out 200 gold, take the carpet ride to Pollinveach, and walk to Summona from there. As you can tell from the name, this method takes a long time and should only be used as a last resort. I guess if youre set on Summona, you could use this method, but if you do use this method, I recommend going to Shilo.[/hide]

[hide=A General Comparison of Ranged Weaponry]When youre a Ranger, everything isnt as black and white as it is when you are a Meleer. Meleers have the whip, which is basically the best all around weapon in the game. We Rangers have a multitude of weapons. Now this means that we do not have a whip-like weapon, but we do have a large variety of almost equal weaponry. When youre good at everything, youre the best in nothing. is a quote that comes to mind.

The Rune Crossbow: This is probably the best ranged weapon imo and will be used almost religiously in this guide. This weapon has the option of having enchanted bolts, ranging from armor penetration to dragonfire, and has some rather cheap bolts that can hit past 30. Those are broad bolts. I dont personally like this weapon. I much prefer the traditional Magic Shortbow... but sadly this is just better in every way.

Magic Shortbow: This was long regarded as the best Range training weapon. You could go to the Fire Giants in the Waterfall and see five shortbows at a time. But with the updates to the Crossbows, theyve fallen into disuse and rightfully so. Rune Crossbows destroy these things in every way possible. They have more range attack, more variety with ammo, you can use a shield, and they hit harder, which makes up for their loss of speed. I dont recommend using this weapon, even if youre doing it to be cheap. Broad bolts for a Rune Crossbow are pretty cheap themselves and are a lot better. Pretty sad, considering this is my favorite weapon.

Knives: Knives are some of the fastest weapons around, next to Darts. Knives come in metals up to Rune, but the ones used for training are usually Mithril or below. Knives hit fast and decently hard on most monsters. But they do lack the Range attack to fully penetrate some monsters defenses, like Troll Generals. You really shouldnt use these against anything with high defenses. An upside to Knives is that they, like Rune Crossbows, have the ability to let you wield a Shield with them. Now that Iron Knives are about 38gp each, theyre very cheap, so if you want a cheaper training method, these are great.

Darts: Darts are the fastest weapons in the game, and damn, they hit fast. Of course, this also means that they hit pretty slowly. Usually these weapons are out-performed by Knives. As they share the some characteristics with Knives, (i.e. the fast attack, appearance, and ability to wield a shield) they are a decent weapon to train with. But the Knives are just the better choice in pretty much any case. These weapons have a pathetically low range attack, which means that you wont hit that often anyway. Couple that with their low max hit and you have a weapon thats outshined by Knives.

Crystal Bow: The Crystal Bow is a great weapon, if you use it correctly. This means using the Crystal Bow Trick. Now this trick means you have to have 2 Crystal Bows and switch them out periodically. Basically you fire 249 shots with one bow and then fire the 250th shot with the second bow. This will result in the second bow getting degraded and keeping your first at 10/10 and therefore, +100 range bonus. You may also use a timer to keep track of your shots, although its not as accurate. Now this bow has the great little effect of not being able to pick up your arrows. Of course, this is both good and bad. The good part of it is that its great if you want to range in your Skillcape, which I see a lot of people wanting. Its also good for tasks like Abyssal Demons, where your arrows would be scattered around. The disadvantage is obvious, meaning that you cant re-use your ammo. This bow also comes at a cost, 900k per 2,500 shots, but it works down to 180k per 2.5k shots depending on how many times you recharge it.

Chinchompas: Yes, the infamous flying rodents of furry destruction. These little squirrel-things will probably only be used on one task, that being Nechraels, but I thought Id put it in anyway. Chinchompas are a really expensive way to train range, but theyre very good at doing that. In some places, you can get up to 200k experience per hour! Of course this comes at a price... Red Chinchompas are about 648 each at the time of writing. Still, this seems like a good choice if you have the money, as they are only a viable option on one task.

There are a few weapons that Ive left out here. Two of those are Throwing Axes and Javelins. These weapons are quite possible the worst possible things to train range with. I would rather train with a Training bow than Adamantite Javelins. Dont ever use these when training range, slayer or not.

A few other weapons seen quite often are the Seercull, the Dark Bow, and the Hunters Crossbow.

The Seercull was designed as a PvP weapon and should be used as such. Its special is only usable on players and its a longbow if Im not mistaken, meaning that its worse training that most weapons.

The Dark Bow was seen as the Holy Grail of range when it was released. I fully agree to this... in the case of PvP. In PvP, its downright godly. In PvM, its quite the opposite. The Dark Bow hits incredibly slow and tries to make up for this by shooting two arrows at once. That does not make this weapon better. It is still pretty bad exp. I stress to not use this when training range. If you really want to use this, carry a few rune arrows and use it for specs.

The Hunters Crossbow was a great Crossbow, probably the best, before Crossbows in general got updated. It fired faster and hit pretty decently. Now, its pretty useless. Its ammo is limited to only two kinds and any other crossbow pretty much destroys this, especially the Rune one.[/hide]

Shilo Village Tasks

From here Ill try to put it every Shilo Village task and provide a method for each in alphabetical order. Most of the time, the best place to do a certain task is in the Pollinveach Slayer Dungeon. I assume you already know a bit about that place when writing this guide. If you would like to know more about the Dungeon, check out RayOxide's guide to it, the link to which can be foun at the bottom of the guide.

[hide=Aberrant Specters]Abberrant Spectres are the first real moneymaker on your slayer journey. They drop quite a lot of herbs, and is basically the only task where banking is reccomended, as you'll fill up your inventory pretty quickly, even without a cannon.

090119073846xo7.png

Range Bonus and prayer is all that's needed here. The Dragonhide chaps can be swapped out for Proselyte Legs/Skirt if you don't want to use that many prayer potions. You'll be using a cannon, so a hell of a lot of Spectres will be on you. I do recommend using a Trimmed Skillcape here, or a god cloak if you have it. The Specters stay in one spot so the accumulator isnt exactly needed, and you do need the prayer bonus. You still do need a Slayer Mask here. Now on to the inventory.

090119183420fy0.png

Now this is my setup, to write a good method on something that needs prayer pots is pretty hard. Everyones luck is different when it comes to herbs, and it really depends on if youre using a cannon or not. Please note that the Pouch can be swapped out for your highest range-training familiar or taken out completely if youre using the Slayer Tower. The 200 gp and Shantay pass is there for the carpet ride to Pollinveach if you dont have your house there.

In one hour, I can kill enough Aberrant Spectres in the Smokey Dungeon to result in a massive 111,480 Range Expierience and 27,870 Slayer Exp. Of course, you won't get the huge amount of Aberrant Spectres needed for this experience as a task , but this is how much exp you can get with 99 Range, potted, a cannon and a Geyser Titan. As an added fun fact, you fire 1k Cannonballs about every 25 minutes here.

Specters drop a large variety of herbs, Rune Full Helms, and Mystic Bottoms. Specters will almost always be profitable, even with a cannon.

Voidable: No. Aberrant Specters require you to have a Slayer Helmet or atleast a Nosepeg equipped when fighting them, which means you cant Void them. Sorry guys, theres no way around this. Thats really sad since, if it werent for that, theyd be a pretty good task to Void.

090119185806po3.png[/hide]

[hide=Abyssal Demons]The great Abyssal Demon, the one monster everyone wants to kill. They drop the elusive Abyssal Whip which is a nice bit of cash. All in all its a good task, even when ranging. I recommend doing them in the Fairy Ring location ALR, as it is much less crowded and you will probably never have to hop.

090118203654ej7.png

The Verac Helm is recommended so that you can hopefully do this task in one trip with a few Bunyips. The accumulator is HIGHLY recommended as the Demons hop around a lot and if you dont use this, then youre going to lose a lot of arrows. Also for this reason, I suggest having auto retaliate on. Please note that even with 99 Defense and a bunyip I did have a spot of trouble with this setup. Not a whole lot but I couldn't stay at maxed hp the whole task. Usually was around 70-80. For this reason, if you have a low Defense level, you might want to use a Spirit Shield instead of an Unholy Book. The inventory is as follows.

21eb8ts.png

Yes I do normally take too many Bunyip pouches, better to be safe than sorry. I recommend using a nosepeg here instead of a slayer helm to get past the Aberrant Specters in the Slayer Tower. The reason being that you can pretty much drop the nosepeg whenever you want for a drop while the mask takes a while to get back. You can swap out the nosepeg for a Lunar/Dramen staff if you are using the Fairy Ring area. Abyssals drop a good amount of crimson charms, the occasional rune med, pure essence, and air runes. Of course, they also drop the Abyssal Whip. Abyssal Demons are a fun task and one of my favorites when ranging.

Just attack any Abyssal Demon in the area; you can probably beat any meleer to the punch.

In one hour, at 99 Range, I killed 77.52 Abby Demons, resulting in 46,512 range exp and about 11,628 slayer expierience. This is with Range Potions but with no prayer. Potting back up when my range level was +5 more than my original level. In my case, potting back up at 104 range.

Voidable: Maybe. Abyssal Demons do not hit a lot, thats for sure. But they are semi-accurate on Void, and when they do hit, it will most likely be for 8 damage. It is definitely possible to Void these if you have a Dfs and a Bunyip. For any shield below that, you may need a Unicorn or atleast a Bunyip with a little bit of food. As for defense, I must admit that Abyssals do have quite a bit of it, but its nothing massive, you should be fine with Void.

090118204447tp8.png[/hide]

[hide=Black Demons]Finally a safespottable task. Black demons are a fun task when ranging, since its pretty easy to multitask. The only choice is where to do the task. When you range slay this choice isnt as easily made as if you were meleeing. The ones in the Chaos Tunnel drop a large amount of charms, while the ones in the Taverly are cannonable. I leave this choice up to you, although I personally go to the Chaos Tunnels because I love Summoning. Setup is as follows:

fylk7n.png

A hell of a lot of range bonus basically. Black Demons have a bit of defense, luckily they can be safespotted in both locations. Sadly, summoning is pretty useless in these places. Familiars dont attack if you safespot and healing familiars are kind of useless when you safespot. Bring a pet to look cool if you want, but thats only if you want.

sl1tp3.png

Simplest inventory Ive ever seen. Like I said, this is a simple task. In the chaos tunnels, safespot near the big structure in the middle of the room and shoot away. Add a cannon and ~1k cannonballs if youre going to use the Taverly.

In one hour, I can kill 72.63 Black Demons in the Chaos Tunnels, resulting in 45,616 Range Expierience and 11,404 Slayer Exp. This is just Ranging with Potions. No familiar or cannon as neither are appicable here in the Chaos Tunnels.

Voidable: Yes. Black Demons are easily safespottable in the Chaos Tunnels and the added damage will really help against theyre 157 hp. The sad thing is that, they do have decent defense and youll probably miss a bit with void. For this reason, I recommend Void for those with higher Range (90+) and Dragonhide or Armadyl for those with lower Range (90-)

2mesfnl.png[/hide]

[hide=Black Dragons]There are two decent ways to do this task. Babies and Adults. Theres also the KBD but I wont cover that in this guide, since my boss hunting knowledge is lacking. Baby Black Drags will be in the section below this one.

Adults are a hell of a task. Pretty boring, but can rake in some decent money if you decide to do them. I recommend killing them in the Evil Chickens Lair as its far less crowded and easier to get to than the Taverly.

fylk7n.png

Range bonus and more range bonus. Black Drags have really high defense and youll be loving this bonus while youre there.

2e1595d.png

Note that this setup is assuming you are already in Zanaris, if you are not; bring a Lunar or Dramen Staff to access the Black Dragon area. This task will not be done in one trip unless you forego the profit, which I dont recommend doing. To extend your trips, bring a beast of burden familiar, in my case the War Tortoise. The chicken is there for entry into Zanaris. Work with the range pots to figure out how many youll need before you fill up on hides or bones. The anti-dragonfire shield is there because youll want to use it once you go out for the drops. It seems not needed but its either that or bring a one click teleport if some stray dragon does hit you. Both take one inventory space, the shield just prevents it before it happens.

Just safespot the dragons in the Evil Chickens Lair, the pots are there for more accuracy, which youll probably need. Black Dragons drop a large variety of items, including rune items, a lot of crimsons, and maybe even the elusive Draconic Visage.

In one hour, I can kill 40.58 Black Dragons, resulting in 30,848 Range Expierience and 7,712 Slayer Exp. This doesn't include any banking you have to do. So expect a few less per hour if you don't have a Beast of Burden. This test was conducted at 99 Range and potting back up at 104 Range.

Voidable: No. Sorry, Black Dragons have a hell of a lot defense. Its really downright annoying. Even at 99 Range, potted, and using Armadyl, I was still missing a bit. For this reason, I recommend Dragonhide or Armadyl when fighting Black Dragons, especially for those with lower Ranged Levels.

30icqd4.png[/hide]

[hide=Baby Black Dragons]I realize that these tasks arent specifically given out by Duradel but I thought Id make it a separate section as its a completely different monster and setup. Baby Black Dragons dont hit hard . I dont recommend using a healing familiar. The task is over quickly so its not worth using the bunyip pouch. Just use a range-training familiar instead.

090120213057xc2.png

The Babies themselves do not breathe fire but they spawn in a room with Green Dragons. The Greens are pretty unavoidable at times so I recommend having the anti-fire shield on at all times. Now, the reason you're tanking is because they can gang up on you and hit pretty frequently. They're not pushovers like Blue drags.

090120214936cq8.png

Just fight them up close; they shouldnt do that much damage. The food is just incase a few blacks gang up on you, the green drag gets a lucky shot in, or you get attacked by a Revenant on the way to the spot. Its mostly a safety measure. Baby Blacks dont drop much. You could bury the baby dragon bones if you want, although I dont. They only drop the occasional few charms. All in all, babies are a good task for quick slayer points.

In one hour, I can kill 163.175 Baby Black Dragons, yielding 52,216 Range Expierience per hour and 13,054 Slayer exp per hour. Sadly, the max amount of Blacks you will get is about 60. This is also with 99 Range, potted, and a Geyser Titan familiar.

Voidable: Maybe. Baby Black Dragons are nothing like their uncles. They have pathetically low defense, although a bit more than their Baby Blue brethren. The only thing that would stop you from Voiding these is the fact that they do like to gang up on you and theyre surprisingly accurate at times. For maximum experience, note that I recommended a fighting familiar here, so that means that no Bunyip would be there to heal you with your low defense bonus. Note that I also recommended an anti-dragonfire shield here or a Dragonfire shield. If you use the latter, go ahead, bring a bit of food, and Void them. If you use the former, its trickier. If youre good at meatshield-blocking and have a decent Defense level you could bring food and still Void them. A few Super-Defense potions could help too. If youre not, and its pretty hard to meatshield here, then just bring Dragonhide or Armadyl for the defense bonus.

090120214553xz5.png[/hide]

[hide=Bloodvelds]Bloodvelds are a great task both in general and when range slaying. Bloodvelds are in the Slayer Tower and the near the Blood Alter. That means there are two ways to do these tasks. One being the safespottable method and the other being the cannon method. For the sake of this guide, Im only going to cover the safespottable method. Sorry but I havent done the quest for the other location. If enough people ask, Ill do the quest and add that in.

fylk7n.png

Getting bored of seeing those pictures yet? Well dont. Its really the best setup for safespottable tasks. Bloodvelds have a low defense, especially ranged defense. These guys also have a lot of hp, making them great slayer monsters. They dont drop much, but they do drop the occasional Rune Med and Blood runes.

2qthh12.png

A few Range potions and a house teleport, I still do recommend having the nosepeg instead of the Slayer Mask to get past the Aberrant Specters on the way there. If you dont use the [bleep]ed Chain shortcut, then you can just take this out.

Its pretty simple. Stand near the wall and shoot them so that they get stuck behind the small of the wall. They should die quickly, the pots are there for damage more than accuracy, since youll hit pretty often.

In one hour, I can kill 97.25 Bloodvelds, resulting in 49,408 Range Expierience and 12,352 Slayer Expierience. There are two kinds of Bloodvelds in the room, one with 120 hp and one with 134 hp. Because of this, I did the math with an average of 127 hp. I have to admit, I expected a lot better from Bloodvelds. Was almost dismayed. =( Baby Black Dragons give better exp than Bloodvelds because of the fact that you can use a Familiar at Babies. The Slayer Tower Bloodvelds do not have that luxury. This is just ranging with a Rune Crossbow+Range Potions, potting back up at 104 Range.

Voidable: Hell yes. Bloodvelds are probably the best possible task to Void. They have an insanely low Range Defense and really high Hitpoints for their level. This means that the extra damage from Void can really help a lot. Youll pretty much hit every time, even with Void. If you have Void, use it here for sure.

21kz63c.png[/hide]

[hide=Daggannoths]Dagganoths are seen as the best slayer exp in the game, this is usually true. They are also great range exp with a cannon. If you do this task, I highly recommend using a cannon and ranging them up close. The Daggannoths are in three locations; the chaos tunnels, the lighthouse, and Waterbirth Island. In the Chaos Tunnels, they hit a lot harder than the lighthouse and require prayer. Praying while ranging isnt a good idea unless the task is really worth it, like Aberrant Specters. The Waterbirth Island variety also hit hard and I dont recommend doing them in there either. In both places, youre not allowed to set up a cannon. That leaves us with the Lighthouse variety.

090118203654ej7.png

Decent tanking gear. They dont hit that often, but often enough that it warrants a piece of Barrows.

090123222431lm5.png

The Games Necklace is there to get to the location. Teleport using that to the Barbarian Outpost, jump across the rocks, go into the Lighthouse, go downstairs, out the door with the Dagganoth picture on it, and go down the ladder.

Please note that Dagganoths are aggressive and will attack you on sight. Setup your cannon in the middle of the room and let them all come to you. Just stand there with auto retaliate on, eat, and refill your Cannon when needed. Other than that, let the Exp come. That Geyser Titan/other familiar will work wonders here.

In one hour, I can gain 148,596 Range Expierience and 37,149 Slayer Expierience here at the Lighthouse Dungeon Dags. This is with a cannon, range potions, and a Geyser Titan.

Voidable: Yes. Daggannoths have a pretty low defenses and pretty low attack power, but they have strength in numbers. You WILL have about 7-10 on you at a time with a Cannon. Most will be ranging, although some melee. Because of this, if you void, you need a good shield. Preferable a Dragonfire Shield with food in the Inventory but a Rune Kiteshield could work too. I also recommended a fighting familiar here, so that means no Bunyip to heal you. Thankfully, your food should be enough for the whole task. If you have lower defense and are using a Rune Kiteshield, try it out once or twice and see how it goes.

[hide=Dust Devils]Dust Devils used to only be found in the Smokey Well, with the Introduction of the Chaos Tunnels, this location is obsolete. Theres really no reason to go there now. It takes forever to get there and there are really no benefits to going there. The Chaos Tunnels also let you use a nifty familiar there, which is a great bonus. :D Dust Devils have really low defense and a decent hp of 105. They die pretty quickly and don't hit hard.

090123203331sp5.png

This is what I call Semi-Tanking. Full on tank would be a Verac Helm, Dragon Boots, and a Rune Kiteshield(or better). This is sort of like that, but with more attention to Range bonus. The Slayer Helmet is needed here because of the Dust Devil's dust. Which is sad, because I think a Verac helm would be enough here. Oh well. The Rune Kiteshield can and should be replaced with a Spirit Shield or better if you have it. I'm just a quest nub.

090123204415np1.png

The food is there because I think a Healing familiar is a bit overkill. You probably won't use this much food but meh, better safe than sorry. Just use the multi-combat to your advantage and own with a Geyser Titan or other Ranging familiar to add a bit to your Range and Slayer Experience per hour.

Dust Devils drop a lot of runes, half keys, and herbs. They also drop Red dragonhide vambs a lot. I swear, that drop has to be a joke from Andrew. Of course, they also drop the Dragon Chainbody extremely rarely. Its nothing to go for, but its a great drop and you have permission from me to scream like a giddy schoolgirl if you get that drop. If you use the Chaos Tunnels, and I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't, don't forget your range training familiar!

In one hour, I can kill 137.371 Dust Devils, resulting in 57,696 Range Exp and 14,424 Slayer Exp. Not bad to be honest. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting back up at 104 Range, and with a Geyser Titan.

Voidable: No. Dust Devils need a Slayer Helmet or atleast a Facemask to fight against. There is no way around this, go grab your Dragonhide and fight them. Very sad, since they have really low defense and would be great to Void if it werent for that.

090123202143ic2.png[/hide]

[hide=Fire Giants]Fire Giants are known to many players as a good way to train range. This is true; I trained on them from 40 to 88 Range. Theyre a lot of fun for some reason and dont get boring quickly because of their large variety of drops. I Tank-Range them in the Wilderness Fire Giant Dungeon whilst using a Cannon for support.

090201110523dg4.png

Standard Tanking Gear. If you're really worried about getting hit, you can swap out the Ranger Boots for Dragon Boots, but with this setup, I can last pretty long.

090315134334p.png

Everything here is pretty self explantory. The Super Defense pots are pretty much needed unless you have a Dragonfire Shield. Even then, I reccomend them. Fire Giants are too annoyingly accurate to not use Super Defense pots. The knife is used for cutting through the webs to get to the spot and getting out of the spot. You could bring a Unicorn Pouch and a hundred or so scrolls instead of the Bunyip to feel a bit safer.

To get to the Dungeon. Just tele to Ardougne, go to the High Level Wilderness lever and pull it. Be wary of Revenants though. I had to switch worlds twice just to get to the spot. Once there, go in the direction of the Mage Arena and go south once you pass it, you should see a Red Exclamation Point on your map. Go down the stairs and keep following the dungeon until you get to the last room, the Fire Giant Room. Here, the Giants are tightly packed together so there'll be almost no time between kills, which is good. Now Revs can come in here rarely and even though you'll be in combat, they can steal you from it. Sometimes they do get stuck on the door there for some reason. The spot here is NOT multi-combat, but the cannon still helps greatly here. I completely reccomend it.

Fire Giants drop a wide variety of drops, nothing huge though. But youll probably walk away from the task a few Rune Scimitars richer.

In one hour, I can kill enough Fire Giants in the Dungeon to result in 78,778 Range Experience and 19,694 Slayer Experience. I'm very pleased with these results. This test was conducted at 99 Range, Potting back up at 105 Range, potting Defense back up at 105 Defense, with a Bunyip, and using a Cannon for support.

Voidable: Maybe. Im quite wary to recommend Void here. Fire Giants have deceptively high Attack power and hit a lot on Dragonhide with a Verac Helmet. I suppose it could be done, but I recommend a Dragonfire Shield with a Bunyip or a Rune Kiteshield with a Unicorn. Be careful though and be sure to have only one on you at a time.

090201105608cx1.png[/hide]

[hide=Gargoyles]Gargoyles are a pretty bad task when ranging but they dont have as much range defense as they look. The really bad thing about this task is that it can get tedious and very boring using the Rock Hammer 100-200 times a task. It's pretty bad range exp for some reason though. There are two locations for these, but only one is good for ranging. The Chaos Tunnels arent good for ranging, the Gargoyles are aggressive and theres no surefire safespot to get away from them. I wouldnt recommend the Chaos Tunnels. Instead use the Slayer Tower and use the full wall witha broken part attached to it. Should be on your left when you walk in.

fylk7n.png

Good range bonus is all thats needed since youre safespotting. The accumulator might not work all the time, but the accumulator still gives a great +4 Range.

5vrf2a.png

The Rock Hammer is the needed equipment to kill the Gargoyles, and the nosepeg is there to get past the Aberrant Specters. The little bit of food there is just incase you get hit while trying to use the hammer on the Gargoyle.

Gargoyles dont drop a lot, but you can probably rack up 150k from the task. Which isnt bad, and Granite Mauls are probably going up because of PvP.

In one hour, I can kill 93.009 Gargoyles resulting in a paltry 39,064 Range Experience and 9,766 Slayer Experience. Sad really. I think once I'm done with the other exp rates I'll come back to this and try Tanking with a Geyser or a healing familiar. Because this is just sad. >_> This test was done with 99 Range, potted, and potting back up at 104 Range.

Voidable: Yes, with a decent Range Level. Gargoyles do have a spot of defense, but they are easily safespottable, which means Void is pretty good here. I would recommend atleast 80 Range before Voiding these. Anything less and youll miss too much. Luckily, 80 Range is pretty easy to get, so it shouldnt be a problem. It might be wise to bring a few pieces of food because they will get a hit or two in when you use the Rock Hammer, which will probably hit on your Void.

090124095236mk3.png[/hide]

[hide=Goraks]Goraks are a boring, unthanking task. They hit hard, drop next to nothing, can't be reliable safespotted, and if you don't have a Unicorn, you'll probably have to bank once or twice. The Range exp here isn't that bad though, so if you can bear it, it's not worth skipping.

090124121126ut8.png

Full Tanking gear with a good range bonus. One of the redeeming qualities about Goraks is that they have pathetically low range defense, so you'll be hitting pretty well. The reason you need the defense is because of the fact that they do hit hard, and if you're in a scrape, you can't even use protection prayers! They don't work here. :o The Rune Kiteshield can and should be swapped out for a Spirit Shield or other, better, sheild.

090124121935vo2.png

It seems kind of odd to have food with Unicorn Stallion pouches in the inventory too. The reason for this is that the Goraks will occasionally ring off a few lucky hits of 14 and sometimes you'll be waiting for your Unicorn's special move bar to refill while you're at 40 hp. To remedy this, I reccomend carrying food too. The Unicorns can be replaced with Bunyips, but you'll probably have to bank as the Bunyip will be assisting the food as your main healing. Not like the Unicorn method where the Unicorn will be your main healing object. Without a healing familiar.. expect to bank a few times.

In one hour, I can kill 121.991 Goraks, resulting in 54,652 Range Experience and 13,662 Slayer Experience. Not bad by most standards. Really annoying being here though, but not bad exp as mentioned. This test was done with 99 Range, potted, potting back at 104 Range and with a healing familiar.

Voidable: No. Goraks hit way too hard, even on Dragonhide and a Verac Helmet. So much that I have to use a Unicorn to get the task done in one trip. I do not recommend voiding these just because of their sheer attack power.

090124112647sm9.png[/hide]

[hide=Greater Demons]Greater Demons are a decent task and skipped frequently for some reason. That reason is probably the Wild Dogs. I recommend skipping them if you are below 127 Combat. For us higher leveled people, I do recommend doing them. Theyre a decent task and okay charms.

090124134820xp4.png

There is a safespot in the room, but the Greater Demons arent really worth all the trouble. Basically tank with a bunyip. Although that much isnt needed either. The higher leveled of us could probably get through the task with a few super defense pots and the bunyip. I just thought putting this setup would be more helpful though.

2j4dlx1.png

The Ardougne tab, money, and axe(doesnt have to be a black axe, I just use one because its easily disposable) are for getting to the location. Just stand up close and range them, they dont hit that often, which is why some of us can get by with Super Defense pots added into the inventory.

Greaters dont drop a lot, maybe a rune full helm but besides 30 crimsons or so, thats it. Dont expect a lot of profit from this task.

In one hour, I can kill 127.471 Greater Demons, resulting in 44,360 Range Experience and 11,090 Slayer Experience per hour. Pretty decent, I didn't expect a lot more from a monster with only 87 hp. =/ This test was done at 99 Range, Potted, and potting back up at 104 Range.

Voidable: Yes. Greaters have low attack power and low defense. A Rune Kiteshield or higher with a Bunyip is more than enough. There is a safespot, like I said, but its not worth the trouble at all. They wont hit you enough to warrant it.

090124135045oi1.png[/hide]

[hide=Hellhounds]Hellhounds are blocked by many, even me. Mostly because I dont do clue scrolls and the golds are pretty miniscule at a higher level of summoning. There are still a lot of reasons to do this task though and I see why a lot of people do them. Please not that the spot can get crowded at times. As far as I know, the Taverly is the only practical way to kill them with range. I also recommend a cannon here.

fylk7n.png

Youre maxed range bonus, as there are a lot of safespots in the pretty big room in the Taverly. The accumulator really helps as most of those spots can work with it, letting you spend less time picking up your arrows.

xcr97n.png

The Dusty Key is for us Agility noobs who dont have the agility level for the shortcut to the Blue Dragons. The monkfish is there for the occasional hit from the hellhounds and just incase a stray Black Demon gets a good hit in. Set your cannon up on the top ledge and fire away at the Hellhounds from the nearby rock formations, or the stalagmites if you want.

Hellhounds are really unremarkable in the drop department. All they drop are clue scrolls and charms, mostly gold. The golds are worth picking up if youre nearby but not worth losing the time to go down to the bottom floor.

In one hour, at the Taverly Dungeon Hellhounds, I can gain 76,436 Range Experience and 19,109 Slayer Experience. This is at 99 Range, Range Potting at 104 Range, and using a cannon for support. The reason that this exp rate is not exceptionally high but not average is because the Hellhound area is single combat, despite this, you can still attack quite a few Hells at once, just not as much as you would if it were Multi.

Voidable: Yes. Hellhounds have lower defenses than you might think and are accompanied by dozens of safespots in the room. Not to mention that your cannon will be doing the majority of the work. Its a pretty great task to Void and I fully recommend it if you have it.

090124195226wf0.png[/hide]

[hide=Infernal Mages]A task seldom given by Duradel but not a bad task in itself. The Slayer Tower and the Chaos tunnels are two pretty equal places to kill them. It just depends on your preference. I prefer the Slayer Tower since I dont like the odds of picking a bad portal and it teleporting me to a bad place.

fylk7n.png

Maxed Range bonus and coincidentally, a good mage defense. They dont hit very often, but it cant hurt bringing a few Bunyip pouches. Really, youll tear through this task, they have a very low range defense and youll pretty much own them at a fast rate.

090125101922pg0.png

The Range Potions are self explantory, and so is the Geyser Titan. The monkfish require a little bit of explaining though. At 99 Defense and 81 Magic, it took me about this much to get through the task. That suprised me a bit, but it's understandable. At a bad magic level like mine, their attacks are quite accurate, even when wearing Dragonhide. So be sure to bring more or less than what I brought, depending on your Magic and Defense levels.

Infernal Mages drop a lot of runes that do add up after a while, but nothing remarkable. It still an okay task to do though. Range them up close and destroy them.

In one hour at the Chaos Tunnels, I can kill 211 Infernal Mages, resulting in 50,640 Range Experience and 12,660 Slayer Experience. This test was conducted at 99 Range, Potting back up at 104 Range, and with a Geyser Titan. Note that the maximum amount of Infernals you will get is 199 though.

Voidable: Yes. Void has a pretty decent mage defense. Not as much as Dragonhide, mind you, but just enough to make this task doable. Note that I recommend a fighting familiar here, so no Bunyip is here to help. But this task should be doable in Void and an inventory of food. If youre really having trouble, you can bring one or two Super Defense potions to help out. Probably wont be needed at a decent Mage level though.

090124205946bm7.png[/hide]

[hide=Iron Dragons]Iron Dragons are a task almost religiously ranged and rightfully so. Theyre pretty easy to range with Mith+ bolts and they drop a lot of good items. Theyre only found in the Brimhaven Dungeon sadly, and they do get crowded at times.

5lb76b.png

Range Bonus is really all thats needed here. They still have a high range defense, its just not massive.

28722r8.png

This is the basic inventory for them. Ardougne tab, gold, and axe are for getting to the location, and the antifires are to completely negate the dragonfire. Kill them atleast a step away from them so that they always attack with the fire breath and keep an eye on your chatbox for the Your antifire potion is about to run out message. The less experienced can also bring a bit of food to heal some accidental damage that might happen.

Iron Dragons drop a wide variety of items, ranging from Adamant Javelins to the Draconic Visage. Between those two are the Dragon items, the Dragon Platelegs and Dragon Skirt. Both are a nice and lucky drop but the skirts value isnt much nowadays.

In one hour, I can kill 43.554 Iron Dragons resulting in 30,140 Range Experience and 7,535 Slayer Experience. I have to admit, I expected less than this. Still, it's pretty bad experience. This test was conducted at 99 Range and potting back up at 104 Range.

Voidable: Big maybe. On one hand, you dont need the defense since you wont be getting hit by anything but the Dragonfire. But on the other hand, Void just isnt enough Range Attack to hit through their defenses. If youre really addicted to your Void, you can do it. I just say, it might be rough going. I recommend high 80s-low 90s as a range level or more before you Void these.

2euh3ie.png[/hide]

[hide=Kalphites]Kalphites are another great task for any slayer, especially Range slayers, since they can be cannoned quite effectively. The best way to do this task is in the room with the level 85 Kalphite Soldiers. This location is found in the desert. Just set up your cannon in the middle of the room and fire away at them up close and personal.

090127113237en4.png

Tanking gear is recommended here since theyll be all on you at the same time usually. Now a Verac Helmet alone isn't enough, yet a good shield is. So I suggest a decent shield(rune+) and a Range bonus helmet. The Rune Kiteshiled can and should be replaced with a Spirit Shield if you have it.

090127113712kf1.png

This is the inventory I use. The obvious items are needed for getting to the location, money, and the shantay pass. Use of the cannon here is HIGHLY recommended. It truly shines here. Dont expect to make any friends since most people really hate cannon users here, but youre here for exp and thats what the cannon will give you. The food is there to stay alive while you're owning them with your Range training familiar, in my case the Geyser Titan, and the Cannon.

Kalphites dont drop a lot or anything really useful at all. But they do have an above average Blue Charm rate; I can usually get 6-7 per task. Luckily, the sheer exp you get from the task outweighs the bad drops.

In one hour, at the Kalphite Soldier room, I can gain 83,486 Range experience and 20,872 Slayer Experience. This seems a bit low for some reason though. At Aberrant Spectres I can get 111k Range Exp. That could just be because of the fact that there were more of them though. Hm, more testing will be done on this task eventually. This test was done at 99 Range, Potting back up at 104 Range, a Geyser Titan and a Cannon.

Voidable: Yes. As long as you make sure you have a bit of food and only have on one on you at a time, its easily Voidable. Be sure to bring a decent shield though. Rune Kiteshield or better is recommended. No minimum Range Level as they have the defense level of a napkin.

b7kzuv.png[/hide]

[hide=Mithril Dragons]Mithril Dragons are a task that I used to hate, but have no come to love. They're a fun task with good drops and I reccomend doing them. It's a quick task, and definetly not worth skipping.Theyre actually not as complicated to fight as they seem and theyre an extremely fast task. That and I get some kind of sick thrill out of hitting a 50 on a level 304. Mithril Dragons are found in the Barbarian caves, accessed by the whirlpool.

090127124348kb7.png

The Anti Dragon fire shield is absolutely needed but can be replaced with a Dragonfire shield. The reason I reccomend Karils here instead of Dragonhide is because you'll only be getting hit by the Mith's Mage attack and therefore need all the mage def you can get.. It is recommended to use Ruby Bolts(e) here instead of broad broad bolts. Use the Ruby (e) Bolts until you get the Dragon down to half hp, and then switch to Diamond (e) Bolts for the kill.

090127124928sk6.png

Everything here is pretty self explanatory. The Unicorn and scrolls may be swapped out with a Bunyip if you don't have 88 Summoning. Oh, and remember not to summon your Familiar until you're in the Dungeon. You can't go into the whirlpool with a Familiar out.

Mithril Dragons are the biggest, meanest, dragons around and have the drops to show it. They drop a lot of valuable items but most notable, the unique drop, the Dragon Full Helmet. This helmet is a heft 19m at max price at the time of writing. The drops dont end there though, they, like other dragons, drop the Draconic Visage, which is a cool 15 million gold drop. Yes, the chances of these drops are rather miniscule, especially with only killing 4-8 per task, but the chance is there. Who knows, you might get lucky.

In one hour, I can kill 23.06 Mithril Dragons per hour, not including banking, which results in 23,434 Range Experience and 5,858 Slayer Experience. I can also kill about 12 Mithril Dragons per trip. Unicorns ftw. The low experience is to be expected, these things have massive defense in all categories, but that's what the special bolts are for. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting back up at 104 range, and with a Unicorn.

Voidable: Try this and Ill personally come to your house, rampage through your house, find you, slap you on your forehead, exclaim Coulda had a V8! and break your computer. Dont try it, just dont. They have an insanely high defense. 99 Range, potted, with Armadyl was still missing a lot. Just dont do this. =X

090127120741gp7.png[/hide]

[hide=Nechraels]These are probably one of my favorite tasks. They used to look great before the Smoking Kills update, I dont like their new paint job much but thats just me. Either way, theyre still the same monster and they still have pretty good drops. There are two places to kill these, yet only one is viable for ranging. Thats the Slayer Tower Area. Now contrary to popular belief, the monsters in the Slayer Tower do NOT drop less charms than the ones in the Chaos Tunnels. This is only true for Black Demons and to an extent, Dagganoths. Now for the setup.

fylk7n.png

Maxed Range bonus is all thats recommended here. Please note that the accumulators effect will not work in the safespot I provide here. Its there for the Range bonus only.

1ta1vs.png

A simple inventory, with the nosepeg added in to get past those awful Aberrant Specters. Just use the conveniently placed table in the top end of the room as a safespot to kill the few spawns there.

Nechraels drop a good number of crimson charms and Rune Boots if you get lucky. They also drop a good amount of herb seeds, and maybe even a Snapdragon or two. Overall, I really like this task and its a fun task to range.

In one hour, I can kill 95.657 Nechraels, yielding 40,176 Range Experience and 10,044 Slayer Experience. Pretty average, but oh well. This test was conducted at 99 Range, and potting back up at 105 Range.

Voidable: Yes. I recommend safespotting these and like basically any safespottable task, its easily Voidable. Nechraels have a pretty low Range Defense and youll still be hitting the majority of the time, so the extra damage will really help.

[hide=Scabarites]Scabarites, sadly I havent done this quest. Thankfully, I have great friends and one of them, Theoknight2, helped me with this part of the guide. But since I dont have a lot of experience with these monsters, I do apologize for the lack of information. Expect only the basics.

2po5imd.png

A combination of ranged bonus, prayer, and melee defense. According to my reliable friend, without a good melee defense you will die in a ditch. Ha-ha well according to him, this is the best inventory. It looks good from my point of view.

2i7pnnm.png

The cannon is highly recommended here, along with the food and prayer pots. Protect from range at all times and kill in this order: Mages, Meleers, and then Rangers. Again, sorry for the lack of information in this part. Its also recommended to have a Beast of Burden here with a full inventory of food in it, for obvious purposes.

[hide=Skeletal Wyvrens]I'd like to say that when I first started this guide, I skipped Skeletal Wyvrens. Now, I love them. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_upup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />:' /> This is thanks to Erichermit's "Misunderstood Monsters" Guide, and all the information presented there. Even how to safespot them! I highly reccomend you check it out. The link is found at the bottom of this guide.

29ctpmr.png

Good ranged attack +an elemental shield to protect from those breath attacks they have until theyre unaggressive. Even with the small Prayer bonus you have with this setup, you can live for quite a while on Protect from Range.

2nga920.png

The prayer pots are mostly to be used until theyre unaggressive(Protect from Range) and after annoying things like teleporting random events. This next part is taken straight for Erichermits guide because I cannot possible explain it better.:

The safespotting only works after you have been here long enough to un-aggro the wyverns. This generally takes approximately 20 minutes. The two safespots are at the sides of the door. This is not the cave entrance, but rather the entire formation (you will notice that in the vicinity of the door, two columns shut out. You want to stand 1 unit south of these columns as far to the side as possible to still be technically in front of the column.)

I frankly love safespotting these. There's nothing more fun than seeing a badass level 140 there hopelessly trying to attack you while you destroy them with range. :P

Skeletals are a task hated by many, but they really arent as bad as they seem. Couple the chance at a Draconic Visage, great crimson charms, and the relatively small number of the tasks, and this task can be a good break from the monotony.

In one hour I can kill 38.41 Skeletal Wyvrens, giving me 31,350 Range Experience and 7,838 Slayer Experience. I'm pretty happy with these numbers as they're a fun task with decent drops. And, thankfully, after about 20 Minutes, they can be safespotted. That makes this a task where you can gain a lot of profit(Draconic Visage) while paying little to no attention!

Voidable: Yes. Skeletal Wyvs have a low Range defense, oddly. I honestly thought theyd be a lot harder to hit. Theyre not. And since they can be safespotted after a while, and with their big Hitpoints level, theyre begging to be Voided. Go ahead, its easier than you think.

090127150047jw0.png[/hide]

[hide=Spiritual Mages]Spiritual Mages are one of my favorite tasks. Youre almost guaranteed to profit from the task as long as youre not extremely unlucky. They also use robes, which make them weak to pretty much any style of attack, but especially range, which is good for you. Spirituals are found in the God Wars Dungeon and I personally fight them in the Zamoraks Fortress, near the boss door where theres about 4 spawns.

Basically a mix of prayer with range attack. Its your choice whether to use a Trimmed Skillcape/God cloak with an accumulator. Now you do absolutely need a Zamorak item in Zamoraks fortress. In the pictures, that item is the Unholy Book. Now with the recent hike in the prices of that item, you could also just use a Zamorak Cloak as the item.

2uy67no.png

Just put on mage prayer and shred right through their little defense. The monks are for when they get lucky and get a hit in. And the super restore is to get your slayer level back up to 83 if it went down too low because of the entrance to Zamoraks Fortress. You could add in one or two fighting familiar pouches. But anything below a Geyser Titan dies quickly, and the Geyser itself only lasts about 20 Minutes. It's your choice if you want to deal with it or not.

Spiritual Mages drop a wide variety of runes, pure essence, and they even drop Dragon Boots. Youre almost guaranteed to get at least one pair of boots per task. Maybe even two.

In one hour, I can kill 189.36 Spiritual Mages resulting in 55,296 Range Experience and 13,824 Slayer Experience. I'm quite happy with these results, as they can also give quite a decent profit. And thanks to their low defense, you can probably finish the task in under one hour. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting up at 105 Range, and using a Geyser Titan for the first 20 minutes. After that, the mages wtfpwned him and I had forgotten to take another. Another ~2k Experience is what could be added if you have a Geyser summoned at all times.

Voidable: Yes, if you want to spend a little more money. Youll be praying, so you wont be getting hit. And they have the lowest Range Defense Ive ever seen on a Slayer Monster. Sounds great right? Well it is sort of. You see, when you use regular Dragonhide, you have the option of swapping out the legs for Proselyte and give your prayer a huge boost. With Void, you dont have that luxury. Its not a huge loss, but could cost you an extra prayer pot or two. I still recommend Voiding these, but I thought I should mention the extra cost.

xpn7g6.png[/hide]

[hide=Steel Dragons]Steel Drags are pretty much like Iron Dragons, except with a bit more defense and a lot less spawns of them. I dont really recommend doing this task since theres only about 5 spawns per world and its usually crowded. But if you want to, I wont stop you.

5lb76b.png

Range bonus is all thats really needed. Steel Dragons have a bit more ranged defense than Iron Dragons do so expect some zero hits.

28722r8.png

You could multiply the potions to make your trip last longer but everything here is pretty much needed. I would recommend using an expendable axe, like bronze-addy so you can drop it if you need room for drops. If you need any more information, check out the Iron Dragon section.

Steel Dragons have a higher drop rate for Dragon Legs and Skirts, but have very few spawns. But this higher drop rate carries on to Draconic Visages, so these might be good to kill if youre after that rare drop, but I still recommend Irons for that because of the sheer number of them.

In one hour, I can kill 26.85 Steel Dragons resulting in 23,628 Range Experience and 5,910 Slayer Experience. That's right, I get almost the same amount of exp at Mithril Dragons, which are much more profitable. Those are probably the worst exp rates in this guide. The reason for that being the fact that there are onyl about 5 spawns per world which are always crowded and there are dozens of agressive Iron dragons to keep you from getting your task. I highly reccomend skipping these.

Voidable: No. Steel Dragons are a task that should be skipped. Seriously, do it now. But even if, by some weird cosmic occurrence, you like this task, dont Void it. Steel Dragons have a pretty high Range Defense that is just too much for your Void to handle. Go grab your Dragonhide and come back, youll be thankful for the attack power.

30d8gt4.png[/hide]

[hide=Suqahs]Suqahs are a nice, fast task that is always assigned in small numbers for some reason. They dont drop a lot and are only found on Lunar Island though; still, they can be cannoned and are, therefore, pretty good exp.

090128114658ig7.png

Prayer and Range here. You'll be praying Protect from Melee so prayer bonus is important. You can swap out the Robin Hood hat for an initiate/verac helmet for the sake of Prayer if you don't want to spend a little more on Prayer Pots. I chose the Robin because I prefered the Range Bonus, it's your choice. I also reccomend the Trimmed Skillcape/God Cloak here because of the extra +4 Prayer Bonus and the fact that the cannon will be doing most of the killing, so you won't lose that many bolts because of the lack of an accumulator.

090128121337wu1.png

Range Potions, a cannon, and a few Prayer Pots. Those are the markings of a Good Exp task. Be sure to swap out the Geyser for a familiar you wish to use though.

Fight the Suqahs to the north. These are a lot more dangerous than the ones to the south but offer around double the exp per hour! Now most slayer guides will tell you to wear melee defense and pray mage, but most slayer guides are also built for meleers. For ranging, you should wear Mage defense(and coincidentally Range Attack) and pray melee. I tried tanking these and praying Mage. I got absolutely murdered. With the setup I have now I can last pretty long. The reason for this is that the Suqahs will all attack you at once when you have a cannon up. Mostly with melee too. This isn't a problem with meleers as they're at a high 300+ Melee defense. It is a problem for us Rangers, where Tanking doesn't give nearly that. That's why I chose to wear Mage Defense and Pray melee. With 81 Magic and 99 Defense, their mage attacked splashed the majority of the time and only had a max of 10. If you need to bank for more food, do so at the nearby bank. You don't even have to pick up your cannon since it's so close! Note that if you havn't done Dream Mentor, you can't bank without a seal, so carry one if needed.

Suqahs dont drop much of anything. If youre lucky you might get a half key but thats it really. But that doesnt mean you should skip them. Theyre assigned in low numbers and the exp is decent. Now until theyre unaggressive just use the eastern wall as a safespot. Once theyre unaggressive, you can use any of the walls as safespots.

Voidable: Yes. Since youll be praying against the main thing attacking you and only getting hit by mage, you should be fine with Void. Even if youre not, the bank is like 15 seconds away so you can grab more food anytime.

[hide=Warped Tortoises]For a long time, I thought that there was no decent way to range these. I hadn't recieved any feedback on not providing a section for them since I started the guide. That changed when AilsaCraig posted and provided a pretty good safespot for them. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_upup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />:' /> This entire section's information is directly credited to her and I thank her a lot. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_upup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />:' /> Just tele to the Glouphrie slayer dungeon with a Spirit Tree and head into the nearby entrance.

fylk7n.png

There's no need for any defense as there is a decent safespot that is pretty easily found. The Warped Tortoises have weirdly low defense stats and a pretty fast spawn rate. So the fact that there are only two that you can safespot is made bearable by the spawn rate.

2m2xhmx.jpg

Basic safespot inventory coupled with a Crystal Chime, the item that is needed to "cleanse" and make the Warped Tortoise vulnerable to death.

Now it does seem boring having to use a Crystal Chime on each Tortoise you're going to attack, the good thing is that you don't have to actually be right next to it to "cleanse" it. Not sure if this is a glitch or was put there intentionally, either way, use this to your advantage and don't leave the safespot unless it's really needed. Remember that the Cleansing only lasts about a minute before you have to do it again, so either be quick or be wary of the Tortoise's color changing.

Warped Tortoises drop Rune Pickaxes and Tortoise Shells frequently. Tortoise Shells at the time of writing are a whopping 7,115 gp minimum, and these guys can drop up to 3 at a time! I highly reccomend picking them up and using the Spirit Tree outside to bank at the Grand Exchange.

Just climb the ladder near the entrance and safespot the two Tortoises there here.

Voidable: Yes. Its safespottable and because of that, Voidable. Theres really not much else to say. I could probably just say that every Safespottable task is Voidable right now, but I should make really long, thought out paragraphs on each Safespottable tasks like I did on this one. You know, the paragraphs that are really unneeded, drone on and on and never really say anything useful at all? The kind that you keep reading, hoping for the tiniest bit of information, but it never happens? The kind that you hope to god will end soon but that idiot writer Robinhoodie feels the need to just write and write and write until you want to punch him in the face. Then you realize its the internet and instead punch the nearest thing to you. Which happens to be your wife. Then youll be thinking about this paragraph in jail. And you should be in jail. How could you punch your wife? Mean thing arent you? Now go see Tiny, the big bald guy with 10 scars and 17 tattoos. Hes your cellmate.

20z7h9d.png

Once again, I thank AilsaCraig for the information presented here.[/hide]

[hide=Waterfiends]Waterfiends are a task I thought were unrangable, and now, it seems ridiculously easy. The Method requires you to up-close Range them for 10 Minutes until they're unagressive and then you can safespot them. For this reason, a good Defense and Magic level is needed. Well not so much needed as reccomended. You'll only be fighting them with damage for about 10 Minutes.(Took 10:17 for them to stop being agressive to me, but that could be because I wasn't paying much attention to the clock) So it's okay to go in there with low Defense and Mage, just be wary. I fight them in the Whirlpool in Baxtorian Falls and in the spot marked on the map near the bottom of this section, you need to fight them there for this method to work.

090203191113od1.png

Full Range Bonus, which also has a bit of Magic Defense, which makes staying alive for 10 Minutes that much easier. Not much else to say except that the range attack is for hitting through the Waterfiends massive defense.

090203191503sy8.png

The Prayer pots and food are for you to last the ~10 Minutes while they're agressive. You will get hit by the Mage attack a bit, that's what the food is for. The Prayer Potions are for you to Pray Protection From Range. That'll keep you alive until they go Un-Aggressive. The obvious Games Necklace is to get to the spot. You may want to use a Bunyip in place of food. Doesn't really matter though.

n3szy9.png

That's the way to get to the spot. You'll be fighting besides a clump of rocks. Know them, love them, make love to them, I don't care which. The last one might be painful but I don't judge you. Once they're unaggressive, there are a lot of spots around to fight them without damage. Here are just a few of the spots that I use. Using these, youll be able to find a few that you discover yourself.

In one hour, I can kill a meager 68.531 Waterfiends, resulting in 35,088 Range Experience and 8,772 Slayer Experience. Below average exp, but with great drops. Why can they never be both? :( Oh well. This test was conducted at 99 Range and Potting up at 105 Range.

Voidable: Nope. I dont recommend ranging Waterfiends because of their raw defense power. It may not be as much as their Slash defense, but its sure enough to make this task Unvoidable. Trust me, youll do better with Dragonhide or Armadyl.

090202183023cb2.png090202183223kj8.png

090202183657sd2.png[/hide]

[hide=Others on Duradels list]Now I cannot find a single efficient method to range Warped Terrorbirds or Dark Beasts, the detailed reason for Dark Beasts is below. Im sorry for the lack of these monsters but if I find a method, Ill put it here.

Im sincerely sorry about this section. Ive been trying really hard to figure out a way to range these efficiently. I just dont think theres a way. Dark beasts hit too hard to tank with a Veracs skirt, they have a long range magic attack that hits often, even on Armadyl, and they have a massive range defense. Massive range defense, being that in Full Armadyl and almost maxed range bonus and super potted, it still was taking almost 30 prayer points for one Beast. There is no way to range Dark Beasts that I know of. If you Range slay, dont expect any Dark Bows.

If anyone has a method theyd like me to try, Id appreciate it, but I dont think such a method exists.[/hide]

Summonas Tasks that arent on Duradels list

[hide=Banshees]Banshees were a task usually only assigned by Turael. They were only level 13 after all. But now, with the addition of Smoking Kills, a new stronger variety has come in. Theyre in the Smokey Dungeon. But most importantly, theyre cannonable.

1znloqq.png

Youll notice that I reccomend Karils instead of Dragonhide here. That's because I recommend the absolute best mage defense possible since there will be quite a lot of Banshees on you, who attack with mage based melee attacks. The accumulator can be swapped out for a Skillcape or other cape for extra mage Defense if needed.

5zh0n9.png

More of a complicated inventory than youre used to I bet. I tried to combine ranged necessities with food. It works pretty well. Now even in Full Armadyl (minus helm) they hit pretty frequently, which is why I brought a lot of food. Now it absolutely recommended to use a cannon here. There are a lot of places to set up your cannon although I use the northwestern spot. Banshees dont drop a lot of different things, but they do drop noted Pure Essence really frequently. In one hour I fire about 2,000 Cannonballs and get about 1,978 Pure Essence. :o That doesn't cover the cost, but it pays for quit a few cannonballs.Oh and remember to use the broomstick teleport to get to these. Free, and really quick.

In one hour, I can kill enough Banshees to net me 92,548 Range Experience and 23,137 Slayer Experience. Pretty hefty experience rate. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting back up at 105 Range, and with a Cannon. No Fighting familiar though, the Banshees hit too hard/fast to last very long without a Unicorn/Bunyip.

Voidable: Maybe. If you dont mind making two trips, you can Void these. Sorry, but these guys will eat up all your food with their Mage based Melee attacks. You need all the mage defense you can get. Dragonhide or Karils just gives a lot more of that and I recommend that over this for the fact that I hate banking on task. If you dont mind banking, it is Voidable, they do have low defense.

2j3mxpl.png[/hide]

[hide=Basilisks]Note that you have to defeat the Basilisk Boss to gain access to these Basilisks

Basilisks are a great task. Theyre thoroughly enjoyable and insanely fast exp with a cannon. I highly recommend doing this task in the Smokey Dungeon; its the best spot for basilisks, no exceptions.

jujx3q.png

I originally had this notion that I would need to tank range these guys. Thats not the case, not even with 3+ on you at the same time. Just max your range bonus and dont forget your slayer helmet. You need it for the Smokey Dungeon.

090128142812on3.png

A cannon is highly recommended. Very highly recommended. "115k exp per hour if you use it" reccomended. A Bunyip or other healing familiar is useless, they have no attack power whatsoever. Just use a Range-Training familiar instead. With Full Ranged gear, I eat one Monkfish every half-hour.

In one hour, I fire 2,600 Cannonballs at the Smokey Slayer Dungeon to get a whopping 115k Range Experience and 28,884 Slayer Experience! That's right, a level 61 monster gives you all this. The reason for this is that, they have the defense power of an ant and they spawn freakishly quickly. I got 115k experience here on a world with only 900 people on it! Quite good. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting up at 105 Range, a Geyser Titan and a Cannon. Of course, you probably won't get enough Basilisks as the assignment to get that much exp, sadly.

I usually set up my cannon a few steps west of the middle of the clearing. It just seems like I hit more basilisks that way. Its a very easy task and I personally love it. You can also get around 500 Nature runes per hour here to help pay for the cannonballs.

Voidable: Yes, if you're feeling dangerous. You can use the Void here and still get hit by the smoke. The smoke would take you down to 1 hp but never kill you. If you're confident that you won't miss a dose of prayer pot, you can Void these. But Praying Melee is compeletely needed.

2urw5g9.jpg

Ignore the nooby Bunyip. Just imagine it's a Geyser Titan :P[/hide]

[hide=Blue Dragons]Blue Dragons are a task only assigned by Summona and Chaeldar. Its a nice break from the cannon usually needed on Summona tasks and lets you do the favorite pastime of Runescape. Owning huge things that are too stupid to go around a wall to kill you. Theyre in the Gu-Tanoth dungeon and in the Taverly. I really do recommend using Gu-Tanoth though, as the Taverly is very crowded.

fylk7n.png

You dont really need the anti-dragonfire shield here since youll be in the safety of a safespot the entire time. If youre really cautious though, you can use one; its not a big deal.

343nckx.png

Very simple dragon-owning inventory. Drink a dose of the Range potion, own dragon, get hide, put in newly summoned War Tortoise, repeat until task is over. The task should be done in multiple trips, banking the hides/bones/both. If youre not banking anything, you shouldnt be doing this task, as the money is the only upside.

The safespot I use is below. Its the first one you see once you pass through the narrow entrance into the main cave. There are multiple safespots around and this is only one of them.

Blue Dragons are mostly slayed for the money they bring. They drop Dragon Bones and Blue Dragonhides 100% of the time and thats where most of your income will come from. Blue Dragons do NOT drop the Draconic Visage so dont even get your hopes up. Still, the bones and hides, along with their other drops make this task very profitable.

In one hour, I can kill 64.805 Blue Dragons(not including banking), resulting in 27,996 Range Experience and 6,999 Slayer Experience. Ha, anti-climactic slayer exp. Oh well. I expected worse for Blue Drags, but I was hitting really accurately on them. This test was conducted at 99 Range, Potting back up at 105 Range, and with War Tortoise familiar to hold the hides.

Voidable: Yes. Blue Dragons are very unlike their Black Dragon friends. They have pretty low Range Defense are easily safespottable. Anything above 75 Range will hit right through their defenses. For this reason I recommend Void after that level and Dragonhide before that.

15qp1zl.png[/hide]

[hide=Cave Crawlers]Note the you have to kill the Cave Crawl Boss to access these Cave Crawlers

Cave Crawlers were a horrible task, up until the Smoking Kills update. Now they come in a harder, level 138 variety that can be cannoned easily, making them pretty good experience. These are found in the Northeastern Room, down the stairs in the Smoking Kills Dungeon.

090130200957ru2.png

Yes, kinda wierd I'm reccomending full Ranger gear on a cannon task. The reason for this is that you'll be safespotting while cannoning. Yeah, wierd, but there's no other viable way to finish this task in one trip. These things hit way too hard, way too frequently, even in full tanking gear, to ever think about upclose ranging. Sorry, it's true and sad. With tanking gear, a Unicorn, and 99 Defense, I couldn't keep up with the damage, and had to eat my food in record time. It's that bad.

090130201902uj4.png

The SuperAntis are if and when you get poisoned. You probably will, they're pretty quick. :PAnd their poison starts at 8 damage and works its way down. For this reason pay close attention to the screen to see if you get poisoned. Everything else is pretty self explantory.

Cave Crawlers dont drop a lot, like most cannonable tasks, so dont expect any return on your cannonballs except for a lot of experience.

Once you go down the stairs in the Northeastern corner, just use the first room to the north. Theyre all pretty close by and its pretty easy to hit them all with the Cannon. From there go to the broken crystal-things in the corner and safespot there. It's important to use the cannon spot I use in my picture to avoid getting hit by Cave Crawlers when you go to reload it.

In one hour, I can gain 97,796 Range Experience and 24,449 Slayer Experience at the Smokey Slayer Dungeon Cave Crawlers. Pretty good, I must admit This is with a Cannon,99 Range and potting back up at 105 Range.

Voidable: Nope. Cave Crawlers need a Slayer mask to fight them in the only viable spot, the Slayer Smokey Dungeon. There is no possible way around this. Sorry.

090130201548tw8.png[/hide]

[hide=Cave Horrors]Cave Horrors are Slayers first moneymaker. Cave Horrors drop the fabled Black Mask, which is a melee slayers best friend. Kind of useless for us range slayers, but hey its a nice 500k drop. Cave Horrors can only be accessed in the Mos Le Harmless Caves and both need a Witchwood Icon and a Lantern to fight.

69dk3n.png

You need the Witchwood Icon to fight these guys. So sorry, no fury here. Oh well though, they have pretty weak range defense and youll still defeat them pretty easily

105qo3s.jpg

You need a lantern here. The tinderbox is just incase you accidently extinguish the lantern.

Cave Horrors drop a lot of herbs, but the best thing they drop is the Black Mask, a thing which is always in demand. Its about 400k at the time of writing. This next part credited to Theoknight2.

Voidable: Yes, easily safespottable, low Defenses, and decent drops. Pretty awesome and youll be thankful for it. Rawr, Im getting tired of writing these 2 sentence explanations. =(

eb1o2w.png

Thanks to Theoknight2 for the pic. Ilu. <!-- s<3: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_love.gif" alt="<3:" title="Love" /><!-- s<3: -->[/hide]

[hide=Elves]Elves are a fun task that is easily accessible if youve done MEP2 by teleport crystals. They are found in Lletya and have a conveniently placed altar and bank nearby. Theres not a lot of places to safespot them sadly because one variety ranges and the other using a Halberd-like weapon. But the Altar upstairs means you can pretty much have protection prayers on all the time.

fylk7n.png

Just a good range bonus is needed as there is a nearby altar to top off your prayer whenever you need it. If you start to find this tedious though, you can swap out the legs for a Proselyte Legs/Skirt to make your prayer last longer. In the same vein, you can also swap out the Accumulator for a Trimmed Skillcape or god cloak if you feel so inclined.

2j15zq9.png

Very simple inventory. Just pray melee/range (depends on which variety youre fighting) and plunk away at their life. Theyre decent exp and are located in a graphically beautiful place, making this task not very tedious.

Just Range whichever variety is nearby the building with the altar in it(that would be the building with Aranwyn in it), so you can run upstairs to the altar quickly.

Elves drop a few rather unusual items, like Green Dragonhide bodies for some reason. Keep these to sell on the G.E. or alch them. They also drop Tiny Elf Crystals. These will teleport you directly to Lletya and make this task very easy to get to. Collect as many as you can, itll come in handy later.

In one hour, I can kill 93.672 Elves in Lletya, resulting in 41,216 Range Experience and 10,304 Slayer Experience. Not bad really. Kind of average for most people. This test was conducted at 99 Range, potting back up at 105 Range, and running to the altar every once in a while to be able to continuously use Protect from Melee.

Voidable: Yes. Since youll be praying Protection prayers continuously, theres no point in defense and they have only decent defenses. Youre Range Level is more than enough for accuracy and the Void will be there for damage.

34ta8sk.png[/hide]

[hide=Kurasks]Please note that you have to defeat the Kurask Overlord to access these Kurasks.

Kurasks have a bad reputation for some reason. Theyre not that bad at all to be honest. Theyre big and scary, which makes it all the more fun to see the fade away in defeat. Kurasks are found in the Smoking Kills Dungeon in the northwest corner, down the stairs.

rvc8kp.png

You NEED the slayer helm here to survive the smoke in the dungeon. If you are ranging Kurasks you absolutely need either Broad Bolts or Broad Tipped Arrows. Because of this restriction, you cannot cannon these monsters. But its not much of a restriction since you are recommended to use broad bolts anyway. With a decent range attack and broad bolts, its pretty easy to kill these oversized gorillas.

flc40i.png

Standard safespot inventory, not much else to say.

Now Kurasks dont drop a lot besides a few alchables. Being Mith Kiteshields commonly along with Adamantite Plates uncommonly. Occasionally theyll drop a dose of a Range Potion too, which always helps. Their big prize is the Leaf Bladed sword, which is only like 50k right now sadly.

I fight Kurasks right at the exit of the first room of Kurasks you see. Basically between the first two rooms. As you can see from the picture, this spot gives you full reign over 5-6 Kurasks at once! Youll never be without a spawn here.

In one hour, I can kill 94.04 Kurasks and gain 36,488 Range Experience and 9,122 Slayer Experience. Pretty low, which is wierd. This test was conducted at 99 Range and potting back up at 105 Range.

Voidable: No. Kurasks need a Slayer Helmet to fight in the Smokey Slayer Dungeon, which is the best spot to fight them. Sad.

2yzlpo0.png[/hide]

[hide=Red Dragons]Red Dragons are a profitable little task and are not unlike Blue Dragons really. They can be safespotted, they are mostly hunted for their hides and bones, and theyre a good break from the monotony of tasks. These are found in the Brimhaven dungeon.

fylk7n.png

You can swap out the Zamorak book for an Antifire Shield if youre nervous. Otherwise, you need the range attack to hit through these Dragons defense power.

9tpa9v.jpg

Just a few range pots, necessities to get to the spot, and War Tortoises to help extend trips. Theres not much else to say really.

Red Dragons drop a bit, but the main thing is the hides and bones. Collect one or both and bank when needed. If youre not banking these, then you shouldnt even be doing this task.

In one hour, I can kill 52.47 Red Dragons, not including banking, which results in 30,438 Range Experience and 7,910 Slayer Experience. Pretty subpar, but it's a dragon, what can you expect? This test was done with 99 Range, Potting back up at 105 Range, and with a War Tortoise.

Pretty big picture below, but it's needed. I fight them in this alcove at first. Here, no other dragon can hit you, while you have free reign over 2-3 Red Dragons. Once the Dragons get unagressive, you can use any of the dozens of safespots these bundles of rocks provide.

Voidable: Maybe. Red Dragons are right in the middle between Blue Dragons(own easily) and Black Dragons (Get owned easily). For this reason, I recommend atleast 80 Range before Voiding these and hopefully a higher level. Thankfully, these, like most dragons, can be safespotted, so the loss of defense isnt so bad.

090201113210gc1.png[/hide]

[hide=Shadow Warriors]Shadow Warriors used to be the greatest training in the early days of RS2, now theyre a shadow of their former self. Pun completely intended. Theyre not the best training at all and they only have 67 hp, which makes them not great slayer experience either. But if you choose to do these tasks then I wont stop you. These are found in the Legends Guild Basement. This can only be accessed by finishing the Legends Quest.

fylk7n.png

There are quite a few safespots around, its simple. Just stand behind a stalagmite or mushroom and shoot away at them. There are 16 spawns here in the Legends guild basement, so youll always have something to fight.

sl1tp3.png

Just a few ranging potions. Probably too much but your inventory wont fill up quickly anyway. Shadow Warriors dont drop a lot. The runes add up after a while but dont expect anything that great.

Voidable:Yes, as they are safespottable and have low defenses. Their shadows, do you really think you'll have a hard time hitting them?

[Action picture needed][/hide]

[hide=Spiritual Warriors]Spiritual Warriors are only found in the God Wars Dungeon. Here, I highly recommend fighting them in Zamoraks Fortress as theres a lot of them in a small space. This task can only be accessed quickly by the Trollheim tele and they drop a LOT of alchables. For this reason, I highly recommend switching to Normal Magics if youre not on it already.

090201142612bo9.png

Spiritual Warriors in the Zamorakian Fortress require a Zamorakian Item as to not get hit. In the picture, I use an Unholy Book. This might not be an option for you because of the high price of the item nowadays. If you cannot get a Zamorak Book, then use a Zamorak Dragonhide top or a Zamorak Cloak ideally. A worse but cheaper alternative is a Zamorak Skirt. You do need to tank these, preferably with a Veracs Helmet as they dont hit very frequently, but when they do, its usually a 10+. They don't hit enough to warrant a decnet shield though.

090201144057ev3.png

Alchs are highly recommended here. They drop a lot of Mithril and Adamantite items. And If youre lucky, you could get a Rune Halberd drop, which alchs for 80k, earning you a pretty penny. Use a Bunyip for healing as you fight them up close, of course this can be replaced by filling the rest of the inventory with food. You can bring a Bunyip incase you have low defense, but for the more higher leveled, a Geyser Titan and a little food is more than enough.

I fight Spiritual Warriors in the Zamoraks Fortress along the topmost wall. Nearest the Boss Door. Theres a lot of spawns and youll seldom stop fighting.

In one hour, I can kill 134.38 Spiritual Warriors, resulting in 52,752 Range Experience and 13,438 Slayer Experience. Pretty well for a monster that can bring a decent profit. This test was conducted with 99 Range, potting up at 105 Range, and with a Geyser Titan.

Voidable: Yes. I recommend a Verac helmet here for tanking purposes. If you fight these with void I recommend a Decent shield and preferable a Dragonfire shield. With that and a bit of food, you should be fine. They dont have as much defense as it seems, but you should be using a fighting familiar here, so a Bunyip wont be there to help you.

090201140639mi0.png[/hide]

[hide=Trolls]Trolls are probably my favorite task, which is why I found it weird that I had forgotten about this part of the guide. There are so many way to do this task and I will try to make a good section for each of those. The first, and probably the most accessible way, is the Mountain Trolls on the Death Plateau. These are found on the aforementioned Death Plateau, which is pretty easily gotten to by way of the Games Necklace. These Trolls are also delightfully aggressive.

090201142612bo9.png

Pretty standard tanking gear. They are only level 69 but they are pretty strong for their level. Some players will be able to get by with full range gear and super defense pots though.

2rnc420.png

A rather boring inventory, but its all thats needed here.

Be sure to have Protect from Range on as you run through the Thrower Trolls, those will ko you or at least damage you quite a bit.

Mountain Trolls drop a lot of seeds and herbs, even the rarer ones. Youre almost guaranteed to walk away with at least a Ranarr seed every task. While getting the picture for this guide, I got one myself!

Its fine to fight these anywhere on the Plateau and youll do great.

In one hour, I can kill 122.37 Trolls, resulting in 44,544 Range Experience and 11,136 Slayer Experience. Pretty standard for Range Slaying. This test was conducted at 99 Range, Potting up at 105 Range, and with a Healing familiar.

Voidable: Yes. Actually, I could just copy-paste the exact same explanation from the Spiritual Warrior section and itd fit fine here. Its the same reasons. I recommend tanking, but with a good shield and food, youll be okay.[/hide]

[hide=Turoth]Note that you have to defeat the Turoth Boss to access the Turoth in the Smoking Kills Dungeon

Ah the Kurasks [developmentally delayed]ed, blind brother. Turoths are a pushover, really. Theyre an easy task and not worth skipping. Theyre pretty low leveled, and dont hit hard, even on full Dragonhide. They are found in the Smoking Kills Dungeon and the Slayer Cave, the Smoking Kills Dungeon is just easier to get to.

rvc8kp.png

You do need the Slayer Mask in here because of the smoke in the Dungeon. Now, there are two ways you can do this task. Either Range them up-close or use the safespot. I personally range them up close with a bunyip and I recommend doing that as they hardly ever hit, even on full ranged attack gear. Now, thats fine for me at 99 defense. If youre really cautious you could use a Veracs skirt and range them up-close., or just safespot them in the spot shown at the bottom of this section.

Also note that ,like Kurasks, you need either Broad Bolts or Broad Arrows to hit Turoths when ranging.

In one hour, I can kill 154.75 Turoths which results in 49,520 Range Experience and 12,380 Slayer Experience. Slightly above average and pretty close to the 50k mark. This test was conducted at 99 Range, Potting up at 105 Range, and with a Geyser Titan.

090201215520dr9.png

Range potions with a few bunyips. Again, the bunyips can be replaced with food if youre summoning-impaired. Their immunity to normal weapons makes the Cannon obsolete here. Ignore the steel arrow, that's a byproduct of my Accumulator.

Turoths drop Nature Runes rather frequently but thats pretty much all their valuable drops, sadly. Still, its a quicker-than-most task with okay exp.

I fight them in the first room up close(left) or also in the first room, safespotting around a pile of rocks.(right)

Voidable: No. To fight Turoths in the Smokey Slayer Dungeon, you need a Slayer Mask, which means no Void. Sorry.

090201215204ou4.png[/hide]

Well I suppose thats it. I hope you found this guide informative. Constructive criticism is accepted and wanted. Note on that, I dont mind cc. Just no insults.

To start, I would like to say, I love the whole idea of a Range guide, and your guide is great. But that gets guides no better, so here's some CC. <3:

Go more in detail about safespots, cannon spots, and more info about the monster inself. Also, go more detail about equipment and ammunition.

Also, you lack comparison. Try to add a detailed section of what the main differences between Ranging and Melee is. Also, this will require a bit of changing, but try to mention hwo much better Melee is for each of your locations. Some tasks, such as Scarabites are much better melee'd. Also, I disagree with alot of inventories, such as Rune kites and Slayer helmets. You should also mention bringing a Slayer helmet just for a melee special.

Is there really a need to show two inventory pictures? You should only show one... I think everybody knows Armadyl is better than Black d hide. Pictures are great, but in a comprehensive guide, there is simply too many.

Remember, try to stay unbiased in your comparisons. (If you choose to add them.)

Good luck with further updates, if you choose to. I'll give more CC if I decide to read the whole guide completely.

Hm.. Thanks for the CC Kent. I think that I will add a comparison for most tasks when I find the time. Writing just this has already gotten me way behind on my schoolwork.

As for the kite, I think there's only one setup in the guide that calls for a Rune Kiteshield. I can't remember it off the top of my head but I remember thinking that it was needed. I think it was Scabarites. Not sure though. As for the Helmets, they're just there for tasks that need slayer headgear. Like Dusties, and everything in the Smoking Kills Dungeon. I don't think it was in there unneeded but I might be wrong. :-#

As for the two pictures, yeah those are mostly just in there for the low leveled slayers. But I did notice that it looks a bit too complex. If I get enough complaints, I'll surely take them out. Once more, thanks for the CC. <3:

And thanks Theone :)

Edit:Oh and I may be a bit of a noob for asking but.. Does anyone know how to put a link to this guide in my signature? I would like it to say "My Guide To Range Slaying" and be a link to this topic. I can't figure it out. Might be because I'm sleepy though.

omfg this guide is amazing

im a slayer and a ranger and i have 58 str and 59 att so inuashakents guide to me is ......

his guides great but this applys more to me

id say 13/10, ud be over 9000/10 if u did 2 things

1.) some drops, specificly charm drops which is a good thing inuasha has

2.) addiction to arma helm and zammy book, im quite sure ud get better bonuses by using v helm with armadyl skirt rather than other way aroudn

spirit shield gives no - range bonus meaning you sacrafice 8 range bonus for 40 def bonus which with that 40 def bonus u could subtract v skirt for armadyl skirt, be about same def bonus, and get a boost of about 14 more range bonus

otherwise this is very in depth and i love the pics

Decided to check this thread one more time before I'm off to bed. :)

You should've made the safespot pictures bigger

When I slay on my pure and I can't safespot something I just pray

O and god coif is more range bonus than archers helm

Oh yeah, I realise that. I just use Archer helm in some of the pics for the Range Slayers that are kind of money conscious. A "welfare" setup of sorts.

Oh did I leave out Trolls? I hadn't realised. And that's wierd because they're my favorite task on Summona's list. I'll make a section on them asap. Thanks <3:

I'm off to bed. See you all.

For the Greater Demon part you should also mention the Gu'Tanoth cave, the same where you kill the Blue Dragons. If you use that spot, telegrab runes are needed.I take an air and a fire staff, with law/natures.

Other than that it's a great guide.Nice to see it up and running.

I was looking forward to this guide and I must say its absolutely great! I would never even intend slaying with range, but this guide provides the detail and information that I need to know! I will be looking more at this when I come to slaying again!

I bumped into you while making this guide, which makes it special too. It was very nice to meet you and I hope we will be great friends

Ha not really. I wish I would've done that instead of killing Fire Giants over and over. Probably would be a few slayer levels higher. ::'

Thanks, hope you can. <3:

10/10 for sure on this, but 0/10 for lying and saying I was going to be in it for giving you a Restore

Thanks for the good rate :). It seems charm drops are what everyone wants. I'd love to put this in, but I just don't think I will. Research like that takes a lot of time and I have a big English report due soon. Sorry. :-#

Thanks for the plug! lol.

This guide is awesome, I want to get 99 ranged via slayer (as well as 99 in every melee stat), so this quite useful for when I choose to range.

AWESOME... I love this guide. Would anything be worth it at 70 ranged?

Technically, all tasks are slower while ranging. (Unless you decide to do something like Cannon black demons, but that is inefficient due to charms.)

Wait for Robin to release some sort of comparison between Melee and Ranging.

Edit: The problem with Range praying is lack of def and prayer bonus, too.

Not sure what you mean but you can use this guide at 70 Ranged. 80+ is just a reccomendation. You probably will get tasks done slower than I do but that's expected. ::'

And yes, comparisons will come but don't expect them for a while. School is owning me. :(

Another thing that's slowing the release of comparisons is the fact that I havn't really played RS in the week+ that I was writing this guide. So I want to enjoy Rs for a bit more before I go to work on those. <3:
