  2. Such a true article. I have more chores in a game (this game) than I do in real life. The kingdom is the worst because I can actualy do the math and see how much money I waste if I don't go there daily to mine a coal and leave. I seriously wish the guy would let me build up a store of 5 extra percent so I could go 5 days without stepping foot on the island. I used to do teh falling stars wuite avidly, I mean a free 100k (if you sell everything) per day is nothing to turn your nose up at, and I gained my last 5 mining levels (I am 70 currently) in about a week doing this minigame. Then I realised the stars drop every 2 hours, and each one was representing about 30-40 minutes to find and mine (in a group, but we were always in position early because people with mahogany scopes were never on). Now even though I can easily get all the star dust in one or two stars, it still means I can't go and kill ankous in between (as an example) because a normal trip means I have enough food for over an hour (but not more than 2 or I get really bored), and a short trip is usualy worth almost nothing (most of the valuble drops like battle staves and good herbs seem to be in the second half of a trip). I don't hunt penguins actively, but I do the circus because of the large ammounts of xp to be had there (I have no interest in ringmaster). This is a reason why I don't farm. I never seem to have the time. As great as all teh stuff is, much more and I don't know what I will do.
  3. Much like the OP, I view it as never really owning teh armour. Its more like a mortgage you can never pay off. I would consider using Barrows if I needed it (so guthans would be teh one I am most likely to use), but I dont even really like the look. Especialy guthans and torags look horrible (Guthans is the worst looks by far). My dragon armour, helm of neitiznot(e) and whip can get me through my day to day activities just fine.

In the 2 mins that they actually do stuff. Otherwise they just stand around. I think the 'official' #1 sport in the world is football (soccer). It basically dominates in every country except the US. Make that North America. Mexico is the only North American country that actualy gives a damn about soccer. The USA has american football, and Canada has hockey (by far the most popular sport in this country).
  5. My brother had a broken vertabrae in his neck (he's a hockey golie) for days without knowing it. He was literaly walking around with a neck with a craked vertabrae. Now it hurt him alot, but the family doctor said it was just 'something' (which I dont rember) so come back in a week. He got an X-ray at teh childrens hospital when it got worse and sure enough he had a broken neck. Now if your toe was broken, you'd probably be in alot more pain and I figure you would know it. Tape the foot and let it get better. As a point of interest, you might have cracked a toe bone. That would probably hurn alot, but not as much as a break. So definatly tape it or something.

Foreword: I am a Canadian. To the best of my knowledge Canada is relatively more into this holiday than other parts of the world (the USA in particular who have memorial day). But seeing as it is celabrated in many countries around the world I think this is still appropriate. Now I will start this off with a song (and watch the video with it or it won't make much sense) and a poem. [hide=Pitance of Time]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyrCm5e32qc[/hide] [hide=About the Song]On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a drug store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the store's PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. Terry was impressed with the store's leadership role in adopting the Legion's "two minutes of silence" initiative. He felt that the store's contribution of educating the public to the importance of remembering was commendable. When eleven o'clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the "two minutes of silence" to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect. Terry's anger towards the father for trying to engage the store's clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was channeled into a beautiful piece of work called, "A Pittance of Time". Terry later recorded "A Pittance of Time" and included it on his full-length music CD, "The Power of the Dream". In the interest of creating a greater awareness of the sacrifices that have been made and are still being made on our behalf, "A Pittance of Time" has been adapted to the French language and titled "C'est si peu de temps". Music videos for both audio tracks too were produced in support of the campaign and a musical/theatrical concert production, "Two Minutes of Silence -- A Pittance of Time", was written for the stage. "Two Minutes of Silence - A Pittance of Time" combines music and theatre in an emotional production that looks at the folly of war. The inspirational songs and dramatic monologues evoke memories both tinged with sadness and joy that ultimately underscore the need for hope and faith in the goodness of humankind. A relationship - set in World War One -- unfolds as a young Canadian soldier fighting in the trenches attempts to bring some sanity to his horrific situation by corresponding with his new bride back home. Singer/songwriter Terry Kelly features many of his own compositions such as "In My Father's House", "Moment To Moment", "We Can Do Anything", Safe Home, "A Pittance of Time" (and more) plus a few familiar songs from war times - "Pack Up Your Troubles", "It's a Long Way to Tipperary", "Over There" .... This self-contained production includes three musicians, two actors, and a technical crew. - Terry Kelly element enterprises uploaded this video to pay respect to the veterans of the Canadian Forces. It is not our intention to unlawfully distribute this video. This video was acquired from the Canadian Army Website. The above is taken from the description on youtube which I know to be true. And as an aside, I live very close to Dartmouth (pronouced dart-muth or, less corectly, dart-mith but NOT dart-mouth)[/hide] [hide=In Flanders Fields]In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Lt.-Col. John McCrae[/hide] I can't see the poem being a legal issue considering it can be found of ,I belive, the Canadian $10 bill. So whats my point? I am looking for disscusion on how the people of tip.it view and (if applicable) celebrate remembrance day. In regards to the song I posted, most candians would view what that man did through most of the video as morally dispicable. To not take 2 minutes of your life once a year to remember the attrocites and people who were involved in the (mainly) First World War (and the others aswell) is evidence of a pretty morally deficient person. For much of Canada (excepting the 3 territorys which I don't know much about), November 11 is a holiday for Federal and Provincial workers and many other compainies give their staff the day off. Services such as police, fire and helth care are excepted because they are needed. Except for Ontario and Quebec it is a general holiday meaning that there is no school. As each timezone hits the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11:00am, November 11), everyone is expected to stop what they are doing for 2 minutes (which is what that song was about for people who skipped it). The poem is there as a bonus since I know it is very well known in Canada but not about how well known it is in other contries. EDIT: [hide=principals of a Just war]-A just war can only be waged as a last resort. All non-violent options must be exhausted before the use of force can be justified. -A war is just only if it is waged by a legitimate authority. Even just causes cannot be served by actions taken by individuals or groups who do not constitute an authority sanctioned by whatever the society and outsiders to the society deem legitimate. -A just war can only be fought to redress a wrong suffered. For example, self-defense against an armed attack is always considered to be a just cause (although the justice of the cause is not sufficient--see point #4). Further, a just war can only be fought with "right" intentions: the only permissible objective of a just war is to redress the injury. -A war can only be just if it is fought with a reasonable chance of success. Deaths and injury incurred in a hopeless cause are not morally justifiable. -The ultimate goal of a just war is to re-establish peace. More specifically, the peace established after the war must be preferable to the peace that would have prevailed if the war had not been fought. -The violence used in the war must be proportional to the injury suffered. States are prohibited from using force not necessary to attain the limited objective of addressing the injury suffered. -The weapons used in war must discriminate between combatants and non-combatants. Civilians are never permissible targets of war, and every effort must be taken to avoid killing civilians. The deaths of civilians are justified only if they are unavoidable victims of a deliberate attack on a military target.[/hide]
  7. *laughs at faimly guy referance* I just started taking the coins when I realised that since I keep all gems, I never get anything worth more than 200gp. Thankfuly I get very few of this event.
  8. No offence to any asian people, but this seems to be a comon culteral thing. On an airplane with seats that recaline really far by canadian standards. This Asian guy infront of me. As soon as the seatbelt sign is off he puts the thing as far back as possible. I am over 6ft tall, and alot of that is legs. He was about 2 inches from my kneecaps which I lowered by quickly straitning my legs. Good thing I have a 1.3 litre bladder capacity (its has actualy been messured to that, long story) because there was no way I could have gotten up. Later in the airport another aisian just pushes me out of the way rather than walk around me. I was not at all obstructing traffic, I was to one side and there was a good 10ft of unoccupied space beside me but know, he wanted to go where I was standing. He did it from behind too. People who have really loud conversations on public transportation are always fun. Sometimes its interesting (I once heard a martial arts guy talk about how much force the human knee can withstand from various angles), but normally its not. Half the time for me its in arabic (not that often actualy), manderin chineese (or so I assume, asians speek this one), and most often french (also known as Quebecese as this is not the same french that is spoken in France). Teh french ones are teh wost followed by teh asians in terms of volume. Then you get the whiny little kids who cant shut the [bleep] up for two bloody minutes. You get teh teenaged girls who say 'like' about 3 times a sentance, or instead of saying 'umm' they go "like, like, uh like, like like" in which case I just wan't them to lose the ability to make any sounds whatsoever. I have herd one whoman who was so peevish you swear she had a railroad [bleep]e shoved firmly up her arse. I once had someone ask me what my license plate ment (its a custom). I won't say what the plates say (theres 2 sets, one is a one number addition that is the same joke) since they are quite possibly unique to North America. All I will say is they are a refferance to an enginering joke which I someday hope to inherit (my brither is not an engineer but I am going to start my university carrer to ebcome one next year).
  9. I say two months solid of solitary confinement for second and first degree murder and pedophielia. This may or may not be cheeper than a 25 year prison term because it will drive them completly insane. So that we all understand, solatary confinement removes your ability to gauge the passing of time. minutes become hours, hours become days, days become weeks, weeks become months and months become many years. I belive this is classified as cruel and unusual punishment if used for more than a couple days, and for good reason. It is quite frankly torture, and I belive that atleast first degree murder and probably pedophilia deserve this form of punishment. For pedophilia, I understand it is probably like being homosexual where you dont really choose (you don't wake up one day and realise you want to [bleep] 12 year old girls). In this case its wrong and just like the rest of the world you should suppress any feelings of this manner you may have. There is also varriants on solitary. One invoves the normal scoope but with an audio twist. A really loud and annoying sound (like country western). A really loud song makes it near immpossible to think. Reportedly teh only counter for a song you truly hate is to have extremly loud and animated conversations with yourself. Should you lose concentration on the conversation, you will be lost to a hopeless depression of self pittly. If you like the song it is not effective at all. They do this to muslim POW's right now, and to be ethical the prison gaurds all get to listen too. How does this work? The prion warden really likes mettalican and nevana, and the muslims cant stand it (its like country western and/or rap to various other people).
  10. If we just accept that the censor exists for a moment, and let us also accept that it is going to be changed to adapt to new bypasses, then something becomes amazingly clear. The fault of the sorry state of the censor is not resting on Jagex, but on the players who are not content to type out ehir cursewords propperly, allow them to be starred (therby not being able to be reported) and relying on context to fill in the missing blanks. Sure, now you can't tell the difference between [cabbage] and crap, but context can proberably defferentiate those two from hel and the f word.

I think statwise teh combat bracelet falls someplace between the rune and dragon RFD gloves. Get that. And if you have done legends, then it offers some teleports. Of course without the fairy rings recharging could be a bit painful but I guess you can sell the depeted blacelet for a charged one. The regen bracelet is actualy equal to or better than the combat brace in every way. If you don't have legends than the regen is certainly the superior choice, but if you frequent the areas the combat teleports to and have completed the legends quest than it may be worth the one or two stat point loss in a few catagories. The regen brtacelt aside from its special effect is inferior in every way to the dragon RFD gloves let alone the mighty barrows ones.
  12. Yes I knew. And christmas is in the winter because it was (and largely still is) a dark and depressing time. Christmas was put in the winter in this time to cheer people up. Notice the lack of holidays in the summer? Thats because people need alot less cheering up in the summer. And I belive many christmas traditions are also pegan, specificly the tree.
  13. I don't advertise it but they do know. Its sort of a light tese thing whenever I play any game on my laptop in school. I had a girl friend who played too. We're not engaged anymore and she no longer plays thought we are still friends in real life. I am probably one of the very few people in my school who plays RS.
  14. Your one of those 'glass half empty' people. For us optimists, ie. 'glass half full', we would like to dream about being able to go back to our starting ground as far more powerful and capable people in order to stop some catastrophie. It would be suiting that the most epic quest in the game be in teh same place most all of us started from (excepting those form teh lumbridge tutorial and those from before tut island).
  15. You really haven't played in a while. Years ago they added the construction skill (and whole lot more since). It is members only.
  16. Once you get around to building your poh, build a bookcase when you can and all the books that could have gone there (that you have recived) will be there. I think.

I hjavent seen the video, figure its a waste of my time. what I want to know is if anyone has seen at and what they think. From what I have read about it, it uses some comparisons that are pretty bad when you know the science behind strenth of matterials. I am an engineer in the making and both parents are engineers. Anyways, if anyone can provide some opinions, or maube site another place that can give some incint with more credibility than wikipedia, please post. And sorry about posting about a 9/11 conspiracy video, but I am.
  19. I like this explantion. As far as I know the masks were expensive for the sake of it more than anything. The other valubel items like christmas crakers, p hats, 3rd age and the other rares, are all expensive because so fe of them exist. The animal masks were artificiay high. The price rose initialy because of massive demand for the new rewards. Masks never came down. This is opposed to something like 3rd age which has always been expensive. I expect there were many original owners of animal masks, and when one fell on the GE all these woners were able to sell at GE price without suffering the losses someone who recently bought one would incure. As the prices drop, demand goes to nill for most people and only people who wanted but couldnt afford become buyers. Now 3rd age an other TT rewards could crash as a result. This is because people would fear a drop and sell low on teh GE. So few of the items are traded on teh GE that a few low sells could show up as multi percent changes causing mass panic. As long as the people who own expensive TT rewards keep level heads and don't panic, there will be no drop. The drop will only come from people who panic and sell low. The people who sold the wolf masks are probably the reson that this happend. The blame also falls to the people who panicked and allowed all teh masks to follow suit. Of couse with teh game being populated by little kids, the panic was probably justified, and the older people would realise the little kids will panic and may even start the whole event. The prices are determined by peoples confidence in the value of the item just as much as supply/demand dictate prices. Faith is somethig most people forget about in economics, but when push comes to shove, faith can cause far more drastic changes than anything else. The Global economic situation is a great example. Iceland banks ALL wen't belly up because of a lack of faith after coming clean with the fact they had suffered extreme losses. This means Icelandic currency is useless on the global market, and probably just as useless in Iceland itself.

You made it sound like you afk skill. The fact you got away with it and suggesting ways to do it would count as encouraging others to break rules without to much of a stretch. Not saying you really needed to be muted (it does nothing to help if people dont even know what there muted for), but perfectly understandable all the same.
  21. I have had the plesure of seeing an air powered go-cart. It used 2 scuba tanks and a modified [bleep]el Rotery Engine (a buetiful engine design that unlike a piston engine, does not lose power at high RPM). Unfortunatly, as great a preformance as they could get from the car, it was short lived. It had minutes of fuel. Ran longer on sunny days. They tried it in th ewinter and the cooling from the air tanks caused problems because parts start to sieze. When you let pressure off from any compressed gas, the gas will become very cold (depending on how fast you let the air out). For this to be a viable technology a few things have to hapen. -Like electric cars, you need a clean source of energy to compress the gas in the firstplace. -You need the gas to be under incredible pressure so you can store a viable amount of fuel. -You have to solve the cooling issue. Piston engines are not the most suited for this sort of design. Roteray engines are probably better, but they use up fuel a bit faster too. Personaly, I am in favore of Hydrogen fuel cells that are charged by the only clean source of electricity that can fill teh demand to replace all fossil fuels and general electricity on earth. Nuclear Power. The other stuff is nice, but the curret technology in teh Nuclear industry can replace all powerplants and fossil fuels without any aditional research. Nothing else can do that.
  22. I think Russia and the rest of the world will eventualy get over it. I don't think my generation 1990 will be the ones to do it though. I don't think until the generation of 2000 hits young adults will you see the western powers start to trust Russia again. Russia is a big mystery. They fought against Germany in WWII, but they didn't exactly fight with the allied powers either. Now that is not entirely their fault, it is partialy their location. The fact that Russia was able to Repel Germany while France was completly occupied is unerving, even though I don't think anyone regards France as a super power in the legue of the USA or Russia. As far as I know, Germany is also no longer a dictatorship. Russia is. Before Russia can ever recover and be trusted by the wetern powers, they need to become democratic. Democracies have good reason for trusting other democracies when you consider that no democratic nation has ever attacked another democratic nation (maybe if you go back to the time of the greeks, but that is largely irrelevent to the disscussion).
  23. Do you know what coal is made of? Oh damn, its CARBON. I belive in one of the god letters it was covered that most of the coal goes to making the fire hottore to make smelting steel possible (which is a real proccess) because someone pointed out that there is not much carbon in steel. I learned how to type. Try learning that from the food network. I should mention that being able to touch type is a huge bonus once you hit high school and later on in life.

  25. There is no known metal or alloy with the properties generaly attributed to mithril. About the closent thing I can think of off the top of my head is Titanium. Titanium is as stong as many steel alloys, about 50-60% hevier than aluminum (I don't rember, I think it's 60 though), but over twoce as stong as aluminum. Titanium is silver in colour and extremly resistant to corrosion (including salt water and chlorine). Titanium is often alloyed with the metals alluminum, vanadium, and molybdenum, all of which are also silvery metals (all being metalic) and so produce silvery alloys. These are charecteristics of mithril as well. A final charecteristic of mithril is being easily shapped. Titanium shares this property too. In an oxygen free enviroment titanium is incredbly ductile (I don't know the exact method, I only know that oxygen free enviroment is needed, I suspect it is heating the metal in oxygen free enviroment that makes it ductile). Lightweight, incredibly strong, ductile, silver in colour, does not tarnish. All charecteristics of J.R.R. Tolkiens mithril. All charecteristics of Titanium. Titanium is also highly heat resistant and oddly a poor conductor of heat and electricity (this could arguably be magic resistance). I would say that mithril may not exist, but it is probably a representation of the element Titanium or another mettalic mettale with similar properties (though I think in this case Titanium is it). Mithril = Titanium?
