Shey was here!
Congratulations. =D> The rate at which you're advancing is concerning. I suspect a macro. :P :anxious: 99 Bone-burying level I take it now then?

Another personal (almost) encounter with Tip.Iters
I dunno if we should be talking about this. It's actually against the rules to give out home adresses and arranging to meet up etc.. Closest contact I've ever had to a Tip.Iter? Probably Mc90123 when you trading on Pok̮̩̉̉mon, and we forgot to turn the sound microphone thing off.

Ha! You must be joking! Thanks. Should get on Sunday/Monday Cold and diametric? I can see where you'd get that impression of me. Like I said, don't take offence. That's just my nature. Mistrustful. :x 98 Fletch!

Couldn't they do that with the current system anyway, under a false alias?

Family Communication - Am I the Only One?
That's perfectly justifiable, and I have trouble talking to my parent about my relationships. But you have to explain why you feel that way to your parents.

Help me out.
Juts make sure you're objective about that...no need for personal bias to enter a paper of this magnitude. But yea, the effects of WWII on the world is really easy. Or, you could do it about the Reniassance; Church corruption, impact of artists, how it has influenced the modern world, etc. I had 14 pages on my outline alone for that  [/i] With fairness, history is always biased. At the end of a history essay, or whatever, you have to make a judgement one way or another. What I, as a history student, have to make sure of is that the conclusion I arrive to is represented by stats, and a just analysis. My history teacher has frequently referred to my more liberal views in my essays being obvious, but that they've been properly backed up, and the essay would receive high marks.

Family Communication - Am I the Only One?
Just try to be a bit more understanding. While you live under their roof, you are technically their responsibility. They'd be being neglegant if they didn't check on these things. Surely, if you actually do love them, you'd understand their care for you? Instead of saying, "I don't know", do one of two things. Either give a justifiable reason to explain why you don't want them to know that information, or say, "If you want that information, I'll get it to you.", to demostrate you don't want to keep things hidden that they should know. I'll leave you to decide what those things are. In my experience, two people drawing red lines and stubbornly sticking to those lines never gets anywhere. Negotiation is much more effective, and that's how I get on with my parent. It's much more respectful to both sides; you acknowledge their viewpoint, they acknowledge your own ability to forumlate judgements.

Grand Exchange = sell only?
A market is driven by a demand, in other words, people willing to buy goods in the first place. To make a "sell" option only would be completely oblivious to that fundamental fact to economics. For this to function to any efficiency, there surely has to be a "buy" option. :|

It's official. You've been mentioned in the Annoucements Board by tripsis. Congratulations! Bit of a fiasco getting there, but you deserved it. Well done! =D>

There's a difference between having someone else doing your work for you, and someone else suggesting a topic for yourself to go away and learn about. History is a great subject to choose if you're looking for lots of information. After all, there's no right or wrong answer in a judgement about history, only those which have analysis and backing, and those which don't. If you're looking for a topic from me though... I'd investigate WWII, and its effect on the USA, Europe, and indeed the World. You could talk about anything from the black civil rights movement in America, to the spread of Communism in Eastern Europe following the collapse of Nazism, and the start of the Cold War. Plenty to talk about there.

Real life dragon armor!
I'd say this should go here ( http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=561170&start=0 ), since it's not actually RS-related.

I'm not an economist, but I can try my best to analyse the effects of this. To be honest, I don't believe the RS economy has much similarities between the real-life economy anyway. My personal opinion is that it would make merchanting much more common, and as a result, much less profitable. The current system is for merchanters to buy their products from the street, and then to use the RSOF to sell those products for as high a price as possible. I kinda compare it to a market trader, who buys his goods from eBay, and then sells them off for a bigger price. The global market structure will allow those selling primary materials to sell directly to those who need them. This won't have much of an effect, I feel, since they were really doing that before using the forums instead. However, a global market would make trading a lot easier, and as a result, there'd be more merchanters. More merchanters means more competition in the market, which forces the merchanters to lower the prices they sell their goods for. As a result, merchanting becomes less profitable. That's my analysis. TBH, this kind of thing's been done with Pok̮̩̉̉mon and it hasn't made a great difference to how people were trading before (on the forums of major fansites). I doubt this will have any great impact on the game.

The Grand Exchange...wasn't I just told no?
It more reminded me of Pok̮̩̉̉mon's GTS service, than an auction house like eBay.

At last, Justice has been served!
I have a feeling this punishment has gone a little too far. We're almost treating this as though the whole of that church was involved in the picketing. I simply don't believe that to be true. I suppose it's the leaders' fault for this, but why should tolerant Baptists be punished for the actions of a mindless few? Not to mention this makes complete martydom out of their cause. Having said that, good for the court! The Church needs to learn that it cannot carry on persecuting homosexuals anymore, and that it has to abide by the law of the land. The time of religion-dominated politics is over. The Church should have no say in how people should live their lives. Only the Courts have the right to do that.

Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
Personally, I can't say I'm too impressed with that thread. You were nominating people who never had any desire to host the chat, myself included. If the chat was going to move anywhere (which it isn't right now), those who run it would be organising the new chat, and we certainly wouldn't be offering it onto the general board for a divisions within the community to flourish. I can't understand why people are so worked up about this whole issue of spamming. Most spammers are kicked out of the chat within ten seconds of them arriving there. Personally, I can't actually see a problem, other than the 'good' spammers that log on and post one message every hour just so they don't get caught, which really isn't something to be getting hysterical about.
-
Why keep the old threads open?
What would be the point? The mods and the admins already have enough work on their plates. They barely get enough time to post as normal TIFers, let alone be asked to lock numerous old threads while they're at it. And for what? So somebody doesn't bump an old topic that might still have discussion in it for all we know? I can't see how the benefits outweigh the extra workload on the mods.

With what games you mixing RuneScape ?
RuneScape when I get time during the day, and then a bit of a more lighter RPG/Adventure/Strategy in the night. Currently, that's a mix between Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and Luminous Arc on the DS.

Is it just me...
Small lags, nothing out of the usual. It could very well have been the traffic over the holiday period in the UK and the USA, where over 75% of RS users play from, putting a strain on the servers. Aside from that, contact Jagex. We don't know the answers.

Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
killer, I was actually talking about the clan chat "Lightning" rather than the person. TBH, most of your reply still seemed fixated around this idea of a "Tip.It clan chat". I'm going to be quite blunt here; THERE IS NO OFFICIAL TIP.IT CLAN CHAT. What happened was that the user Lightning, by her own accord and not acting as a Tip.It administrator, decided to organise her own clan chat, inviting, predominantly, members of the Tip.It community to join the chat, by advertising it exclusively on Tip.It forums. That in itself does not constitute an official Tip.It chat. As Cruiser has said many a time, and I've agreed with him, the official admin-run Tip.It chat is the mIRC chat system, run by proffessional chat ops. The admins have actually drawn the line there. The general concensus amongst those of us who actually keep the chat running smoothly is that a new host simply isn't needed for the moment, and that the chat works fine. Obviously though, I can't be on 24:7. If there are incidents of bad behaviour on the part of our moderators when I'm not here, please PM me the proof, and we'll consider it. You can talk to me about anything about the chat in confidence, I'd hope you'd know that. Until then, there's no need to seize power from Lightning herself when she's not here to defend herself. It's plain unfair. Also, I'm ruling myself out as the new host (if even needed) now. I've plenty of other duties around Tip.It, and real life, without this one added on top of that.

Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
Isn't there already a Lightning discussion thread for this? People have dangerously got themselves into the mindset Lightning is the official Tip.It-endorsed clan chat. It's not. It's just run mostly by members of the Tip.It staff, such as the Crew that still play RuneScape, and some of the more well-respected members of the Tip.It community, such as Lady Heinous. If you want to set up your own clan chat and advertise it in the Sticky at the top of this board, nothing's stoppping you. However, most of the feedback we actually receive is positive, and there's a good few dozen regular users that clearly adore it. Hence, I see no reason to actually move it anywhere. As for the whole speculation about "the tipiter". I certainly haven't received any word about this from anyone, and so I'll treat it as pure speculation, instigated by a group of users wanting to set up their own chat in response to what they see as Lightning's slow regression. We're not moving yet as far as I'm concerned. As others have said, the name is highly doubtful, considering Jagex already locked down the previous name "Tipitchat". If you want to go on other chats, fine. I'm not going to stop you or hold anything against you for soing so. But I'm really starting to get annoyed by this attitude of, "If you don't like Lightning, flame it and cuss it into the ground". BlogScape also has its criticisms, admittedly not as many, but I don't see users setting up threads in the general board about their problems. Instead, Sheynara and Oreo are personally contacted with any issues. I'd be appreciative if people would PM moderators such as myself, if you feel Lightning isn't giving any replies. Aside from that, there's nothing we can actually physically do. As said, there are plenty of users who still want to go into Lightning; you're being completely oblivious to their wishes. So the chat will continue to function until either they go, or Lightning herself closes the chat down.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Discussion Thread!
There was an article in the December issue of OXM (Official X-Box Magazine) all about how all the systems will eventually merge into one. They said it was inevitable but isn't going very fast. I hope this comes true, Master Chief would own in SSB  I'm highly skeptical of that TBH. It's noticable they started saying that as soon as it was clear Wii was a threat to XBox's position after the christmas sales, dontcha think? Sounds like a bit of a swan song if you ask me... I can't see where they've based that either. Iwata's strength so far has lied in the ideal that Nintendo should offer an alternative form of gaming entertainment. There's no way Nintendo would sell out that principle when it's doing so well.
