Yeah, but there are many parts of Runescape, such as simple trading and dropping which are somewhat vital to the continuation of Runescape as we know it, which can be used by Autoers/RWTers. The only logic I can see here is that Jagex will remove them sooner or later. But will there be enough Runescape left to keep standing?

Okay, I'm sure that everyone knows that for the past few months, almost all of Jagex's updates have been primarily focused on dealing with the problem of Real World Trading and Autoers. However, do you think that these updates are actually effective, and do the ends justify the means? Is it worth destroying a fairly large legitimate proportion or players in order to achieve the goal of Runescape without cheaters? Are we headed for a brighter future, or will be eventually bogged down with restrictions, and as a result too many players leaving the game, which will ultimately render Jagex's efforts futile? I'm in two minds about this. One says that Jagex is doing a very effective job in dealing with this problem, and that sacrifices need to be made. However, the other is that Jagex is destroying too much of Runescape in order to reach an impossible goal. Is this whole thing worth it?

Heh, for those who live here in Britain, if you have seen 'Have I Got News For You' (a satirical comedy quiz based on news events and headlines), it was commented after the quote about how this is 'A western plot against Islam', it was responded with 'Well, that's a pretty damn poor plot isn't it. Let's start off with the bears, and the next phase is to move up to the giraffes!' So funny and so true. :lol: Sharia Law is barbaric, and needs to be destroyed. It's an ultimate failure of Islamic interpretation.

I've had that kind of thing, and I usually just remind them that reporting without basis results in the reporter getting banned. It's pretty simple, so you don't need to get paranoid.

I think it's fair to say by looking at your stats that you probably do not even know what the grand exchange is. If we are trying to sell something and you have nothing positive to say then please refrain from posting. It burns me up when people who have no idea WTF they're talking about post on someone's thread that is trying to help RS for the greater good. Thank you. Don't try to judge a player's maturity or knowledge on his/her stats. It's kinda unfair. The point of the grand exchange and it's self correcting prices was that if they were unfair, you should not use the GE to sell/buy those items, then the GE can evaluate what is incorrect by how many sellers there are to how many buyers. Jagex only messed up in that they didn't properly research item prices, which was generally vital in the updates initial success. However, give it a month and the prices will be much more realistic. And if worst comes to worst if an item is seriously under/overvalued, Jagex can manually increase/decrease the price instantly. However, because of the market fluctuations as a result of the introduction of the GE, which are putting heavy pressure on the +/- 5% barriers, it is now virtually impossible to evaluate the true prices until everyone calms down. I sound like some kind of Jagex representative, but I just ask everyone to calm down and give this update some time. It is changing as we speak towards a realistic goal: A player driven economy.

I wouldn't have thought that three 'drops' which meet in the middle would be a relevant symbol for the life rune, unless it means some kind of trinity? That idea seems to be recurring throughout the game (Combat triangle, the trinity of Good, Evil and Balance, represented by Saradomin, Zamorak and Guthix? But even then, we always thought it was linear, with good and evil being at either end and balance being the fulcrum which maintains... life?) Oh, and whoever worked out that the chaosudoku was a cryptogram and then solved it with an undoubtedly correct answer deserves... All the cookies in existence? Oh, and since all of this seems to be on the purpose of hidden information, could 'Balnea' be something (look at the green note about 'orgl wigs')? Islam literally means "submission/total devotion to God" in Arabic. Sounds more like blind devotion to me, the way this Sudanese government has acted. Why are these people not thinking for themselves what a human being should and should not be subjected to? I mean, com'on, lashes? Death by stoning? WHAT? We were blessed with free will, it doesn't matter where it came from, we've just got it. Besides, it's the human beings inflicting the punishments on the human being, not some higher deity inflicting punishments on a human being, therefore we should decide. I personally believe that sharia law is an example of this blind fundamentalism, and should be allowed to wither away. I believe that Islam is a perfectly acceptable religion, which has only been unfortunately tainted by fundamentalists who seems to take the 'submission/total devotion to God' completely literally. Maybe there's an underlying test behind Islam, which the terrorists and other extremists completely fail. I think the idea is to maintain a devotion in some form, but think freely and value others. In fact, this is ultimately true in a whole multitude of faiths, spanning from Christianity to Buddhism, which I believe is the best way to live life. The fundamentalists tried to read between the lines of the Qu'ran, trying to forge false meanings. Oh, and comparisons of naming a toy Muhammed and Jesus don't completely follow because Jesus is not a frequently used name for absolutely anything other than the Jesus. However, Muhammed is a very frequently used name, especially in Islamic countries such as Sudan, which is intended to directly refer to the prophet Muhammed, without actually being the prophet Muhammed. Simply put, the naming of anything as Jesus is generally (but even then it doesn't hold as a crime) not really appreciated because nothing else is called Jesus. However, it should be acceptable for something to be called Muhammed because it is acceptable for something else (in other words, a human being) to be called Muhammed other than the original. And to answer the frequently mentioned post about how we agree to another country's laws if we travel to that country. Well, you're right. I'm not going to travel to a country under sharia law any time soon.

I think that everyone is not giving this whole thing enough time. The GE was a problem because everyone wanted to use it in the first few weeks, which resulted in serious imbalances because the prices are, as qeltar put it, 'artificial'. Jagex determined them, and by my understanding, the prices did not accurately reflect the current status of the economy. This was made worse because everyone was buying/selling at false prices in order to try out the system. The effectiveness of the GE will truly be realised when the hype actually dies down, and prices become more sensible as the same number of people as before will still continue to use the GE, and those people will determine sensible prices. As a result, the GE prices will become more and more accurate, and the GE will become more integrated with the current market which literally exists outside the GE walls. However, for the first month, I can confidently say that the majority of the base prices do not reflect the actual supply and demand which is prevalent when not everyone is buying/selling just to try out the new system. And yes, it isn't a free market. However, it is (There is probably an official term for this) a variable market. The prices are on a +/- 5% restriction, but they change over time. The degree of how 'free' this market is is proportional to the time frame you refer to. Look at data over 5 days, and you are looking at strict price fixing. Look at a few weeks, and you are looking at a restricted market. Look over the next year or two, and it's almost a free market. Anyway, even though they said that they will update the prices at around once a day, I think this will be a smart move if they change it to something more frequent like twice or thrice a day once the hype has died down, because the current prices are artificial. Qeltar, you do wonderful articles, and I suggest that you do a second article on the same subject, but a month on. Let's see how this turns out.

But then again, wouldn't they then no longer be known as unspoken? On Topic: That guy did some smart thinking. Checking the Wii calender wouldn't be the first thing to come to my mind. The wife surely would have taken more precautions if she at least knew half of her husbands method of thinking, like going to the other guy's house, instead of risking evidence against herself? The market is getting weird if that's the case. Ores have no purpose other than smithing them. Anyway, if that's true, the price of ores will drop as less people smith until it becomes profitable again. Is it me or has the economy been getting weird lately? There seem to be a lot more threads floating about on the subject of weird prices.

The issue here was that pures are somewhat exempt from this system. Okay, perhaps not exempt, but they don't completely follow the trend. The Tournament ranking was to evaluate success and ability of the player, not the character. I agree with all of your suggestions Qeltar, apart from bringing in the combat level system into this mess. It's not a completely accurate representation of the character's actual ability, because the human behind that character may know a few more tricks in combat. I think that the combat level only does truly evaluate is a character's general ability in the situation where they must be versatile in using all methods or combat. Since the rules do not change between rounds, it doesn't necessarily apply here, whereas in the wilderness, you had to deal in all types of combat.

Duel arena is a mini-game. Yes, I said mini-game. Runescape isn't only about the Duel Arena. Heck, they may change it into something less restricting.

Heh, you had a tough time. The guy who sold an anti at a ridiculous price is legal, and the same concept happens in real life. Sometimes if you find yourself in a lose-lose situation, but someone can at lease provide a 'less than 100%' option, you take it. It's almost blackmail, and somewhat cruel, but that's life.

I'm ftp atm, so I haven't done tournaments, however, I have read the KB article and have taken part in standard duels. 1. I thought it was random? Anyway, if you are level 55 and there is a level 110 somewhere else in the tournament, you are going to meet him (and be destroyed by him) sooner or later. I think that the whole tournament rank was supposed to be used to eliminate the whole problem with pures, but then again, it shouldn't affect the proceedings of the tournament. I think it should be random if it isn't already. 2. Solution. Take food yourself, if the rules allow. Remember, there are no rules which only apply to one fighter. 3. Agreed. By the KB article, it seems tedious and restricting. 4. And why would a level 70 finish a round with that much more hp than a level 120? You aren't doing it right if that is happening. Refer to the solution on #2.

With crafting, you are making a xp/money tradeoff. Perhaps when you have trained a bit more, you can try higher leveled crafting which will then gain you a profit, but admittedly less xp. That's the idea behind these kinds of skills. If I'm not mistaken, this trend is present in all processing skills. You train at the lower levels first, and when you need to make money, you proceed to the higher leveled option (I'm talking red/black d'hide), to get your money which you lost whilst training. Currently, you are not making a profit, you are making the means to make a profit. Oh, and prayer is completely the same, but on a larger scale. You may be paying loads (unless you got the bones yourself, but then money = time) to get up your prayer, but you are then creating a means to make a profit out of your investment because you can then participate in combat related activities (Examples include Barrows, KQ, KBD, Duel Arena, Wilderness...) which get you a form of loot, which ultimately makes you money which reimburses your loss from the initial training.
