  1. Heh, thanks. I kinda blurted it out all at once without fully thinking about it. Tell me, is there a more effective formula out there? There probably is, but I think that my idea is certainly better than the 3K constant limit. The only problem I think I can see is that if a RWT 'slave' account manages to become high level combat. But then again, it's highly unlikely, and the time to train the accounts would certainly not be cost effective. :-s \
  2. Sounds like he had some conversation with a lawyer and decided to use his newly acquired lawyertalk-skill. Not really newly acquired, we all know that Paul (and his brother) both have level 99 in lawyertalk. They've been talking like that ever since RS2 came out. Oh, and I really don't think that Jagex will 'repeal'. By definition, Jagex doesn't 'do' repeal. But, they may replace the restriction with something more complex and less restricting on legitimate players. There are some better solutions floating around. They may not do it, but it will be better. So, I say 'replace', not 'repeal'. Oh, and doesn't the 'stat reveal' lunar spell kinda solve the whole pure issue, with them trying to hide their ability behind a false combat level?
  3. It probably is GE paranoia, as mario_sunny said. That, plus staking has been destroyed, so it means that there are less accounts with very high amounts of money (as a result of a successful high stake), so they can't afford the very high level items. And less demand = lower prices. Money at the moment is more evenly spread.
  4. That's a good idea. How about a little 'tree' diagram could also be seen which keeps track of the positions in the top right hand corner of the screen?
  5. Alright, I give in. It's a good idea. Either you do that or there could be something around your own hp bar above your head which distinguishes between your bar and someone else's bar? Like a red or green or blue line surrounding it? Maybe that would be a simpler solution.
  6. Yeah, implementing the combat level would be much more effective. How about: (Lower combat level/2)% difference between the stakes. So, say if you had a legitimate duel, an example would be a level 76 vs a level 80. The lower level, divided by 2 (76/2 = 38) is 38, so a 38% difference would be allowed. With a RWTer, it would be a level 3 'slave' vs a level 80 'boss'. Again, the lower level is divided by 2, and 3/2 = 1.5. There is then a 1.5% difference allowed. This generates an excruciatingly slow transaction. Also, it doesn't matter if it's a level 3 'slave' vs a level 3 'boss', the 1.5% still applies! Limit this again by having only 10 duels between any two accounts per day, and then RWTing is almost eliminated, whilst the rule abiding stakers can stake, and also higher levels are given more privileges as they go along. I can't think of any situation where a duelling level 3 would not be a RWTer, or why accounts would duel each other more than 10 times a day would not be a RWTer.
  7. Agreed. Anyway, anybody who said that Mourning's End Part 2 was easy? Obviously doesn't know how to do quests properly. You are not supposed to use guides! I think that if you really couldn't do it without a guide, then you are not intelligent enough to deserve a quest cape. Oh, and I haven't done the quest, but I sure as hell am not going to use a guide.
  8. Runescape time could follow a different system to Earth time. Heck, how about it be done completely out of sync so people can log in, even if they con only log in on on certain times of the (Earth) day, they would log in to day or night? It's a great idea.
  9. Unlikely. They are more likely to sit on these details for months possibly even years before registering accounts in the childrens names. Those children ages 17 are the ones most likely to have their identities used by criminals when they turn 18. I know what you're thinking of, but then again, most people recieving the child care on their bank accounts are adults, correct me if this is not the custom in the UK... At least in the US, I don't know many families where the money is paid on the child's bank account (and in most cases, a young kid doesn't even have one). It's paid on the parents bank account (therefore, their identity is recorded), and they spend it ideally on their children and their welfare/hobbies [or booze..] Yeah, that's how it works. The parents/guardians receive the money on the instruction that they spend it on the child. However, the info in the disks is not particularly damaging, but it does contain information which were not entirely known to the public before. Details include: Child's Name(s), Child's DOB, Address, maybe Post Code. You could probably find that out on your own with a bit of searching, but it does make identity theft slightly easier. Oh, and it's not Brown who will suffer, the public don't vote Brown (Or any other PM for that matter, unlike the Presidential system in the US) in directly. The people who suffer are the Labour Party as a whole, who vote in the PM. Asking my parents (Who claim child benefit, and so their (and my) details are on that disk) about this whole fiasco, and they are pretty annoyed about it. And I'm sure the feeling is mutual for anybody else out there who has had his/her details leaked like this. My trust in the government is really wearing thin. I sure hope the Tories do a better job. In fact, I think that if the Tories prove hopeless... Let's not go there. Someone else can stir up a revolution.
  10. Lol, devious Jagex. Trust them to make the hints for an update so cleverly concealed.
  11. They were planning to make the GE a temporary 'Player Owned Shop' equivalent. Sure, they're gonna do it, but they won't yet. Let's keep ourselves focused on updates which has more solid info, such as the newly announced Summoning skill.
  12. Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Hang on, I was right! We weren't expecting it! Woohoo! \ Ahem... This is a good move on Jagex's part. Summoning sounds very exiting, however I don't think it will be technically magic related. Releasing a new rune will result in an inconsistency in the plot behind how Runes work. For example, the Ourania alter would have already made the Life Rune, even if we couldn't access the 'Life Altar', similar to how we can't access the Blood altar but we can make it at the Ourania altar. Unless the altar needs to be created... Now, change the Duel Arena and we will all be happy.
  13. The wonderful thing about staking was that neither players needed to trust each other, so stakes could happen with relative ease. Doing this is the equivalent of us going back to the Middle Ages, and middlemen are never the best solution, simply because they can't be trusted. For now, leave staking until something happens. Go train a skill or something.
  14. I think that disallowing unbalanced trades entirely ends up 'Curing the disease by killing the patient' (Quoted from a thread title). It's not the best solution.
  15. Meh, I just saw a suggestion on the first page of 'Deul Arena Changes' in the 'Recent Updates Forum' which kinda solves the problem: Why didn't they make it impossible for unbalanced stakes? That way it's pointless for RWTers because they have to transfer about an equal amount of wealth to the account back, which would eliminate the gain, plus keep stakes completely fair. (Okay, it eliminates some kinds of stakes. But it's sure better than what we've got.) Oh, and it was stupid to do this before the GE. Jagex can't keep track of the economy without the GE. EDIT: Damn! Double posted!
  16. I think that the RSOF is getting to critical mass... Has anybody got a webcam trained on Jagex towers, waiting for the explosion in the server room? :-w
  17. To be honest, it isn't funny. People really enjoyed staking, and now they just take the piss. Call it English humour? I'm English, and that sucked. I appreciate that it needs limits to RWTers, but then Jagex should be tracking it from the other side (The money transactions).
  18. QFT. Nobody knows what perfection is, and who decides it. And how was this update a 'mistake'? If it were up to me, I'd say it was purposeful and calculated. Completely in the wrong direction, but it was purposeful and calculated. I define a mistake as something like a bug or glitch, or maybe a small portion of a well intentioned update actually destroyed/inhibited it's purpose, or something like that. This was not a well intentioned update. This was a malicious attack against stakers, and the first ever occasion of a purposeful attack against a legitimate group of players. Who was it who said 'It's not a dictatorship, it's a game."?
  19. Will H replied to l0l0lpur3's topic in Rants
What ever you do, stay away from the RSOF. I daren't look at the Rants forum. :-# This was a terrible move on Jagex's part. The Tournaments were supposed to be an alternative to single dueling. We all thought it would be brilliant if we could use both, and would then be a massive profit for stakers everywhere. Why did they destroy half of the duel arena, just to prevent RWT? I would have thought they would have invented something more complex which hardly inhibits stakers and severely limits RWTers. I'm not a staker (My stats are proof), but they were a legitimate group of players. They didn't deserve this.
  20. Yes, but we're talking about the conventional method, not the Ourania altar. The problem is that the runes you make there are highly unpredictable, so you don't always make bloods, although you do get a higher percentage at higher levels. The abyss problem is easily solved by making the return journey difficult (Hints: No teleports. No prayer. Lengthy rooms filled with high level monsters. We're talking make it really hard to all apart from combat level 110+.) Oh and it develops a dilemma. Do you wear heavy armour and make longer trips, or do you wear lighter clothing for less trips (and risk a grisly end.). It's furthered by the fact that you end up getting skulled, with your prayer drained. It's a great idea, but we knew it was coming out anyway. Ps. Castle Drakan is a great idea!
  21. +1 +2. If you want to have a game like that, go play WoW. The fact that you can only be human is actually one of the main defining features of Runescape. You aren't restricted in any way, and everybody is equal from the start, and you can go in any direction you like. If you end up with separate starting points (Ie as a different race), you end up in separation of players, and there will end up being a goal for players which they truly can't achieve, which will then destroy a significant piece of RS.
  22. The space was to make the window square because of extended text on the left hand column. The reason they changed it like that was because that was the only way they could fit everything in the same place at once. The 'medieval scroll' theme took up just a little too much space, so they re-did it completely. Also, the use of a large Jagex logo is representative of where your payment is going. The billing was relating to Jagex.com, not Runescape.com, because the money actually going into Runescape is second-hand (Money goes to Jagex, who in turn uses most of that money for Runescape). Anyway, how exactly is it 'futuristic'? Oh, and my opinion on Mechscape? It's a bad idea. Jagex is moving too fast, they aren't quite big enough to take one Blizzard Entertainment and other multi-MMO owning companies. I hope they store the idea (Let's face it, it's a good idea, but not yet), but keep the focus on Runescape for about 5 more years. Jagex can still maintain a decent growth rate on RS. And besides, my biggest worry is if Mechscape ends up only mostly attracting Runescape players. Jagex will gain absolutely no additional revenue (infact a lost because of the cost of programming), and Runescape will end up shrinking from lost players. Oh, and the worst thing they can do? Make the infamous 'new year' update Mechscape. That will cause the situation above. They must keep both games separate. Okay, perhaps a largish link on the main page to Jagex.com, which in turn has large links to both games?
  23. Will H replied to LiChef's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Exactly. You gotta think of dwarf mentality. Humans may provide someone with a discount for providing their town with a service, but dwarfs are less grateful and work more for profit than honour.
  24. I feel there are going to be multiple tournament types. One could be the 'tree' system, where single players partake in individual duels, advancing per win. One could be a team red vs. team blue, or perhaps more teams, so there could be team red, team blue, team green, team yellow, team black, team white... and the last team standing wins (The winnings are shared between the members) in a huge battle. One could be teams partaking in the 'tree' style tournament. Another could be a series of heats so you accumulate points. There could even be tournaments with random rules (apart from the fun weapons rule) to test versatility. The possibilities are very varied, and I hope Jagex utilises more than one.
  25. BlueLancer, just live life and see the funny side. Perhaps if everyone did that there would be significantly less suicides in the first place. It was stupid (and funny because it was stupid) for him to try to get though a cat flap which he had absolutely no hope of getting though. Besides, how do you explain the popularity of the Darwin Awards if death is never funny?
