With what did you scan? There's a few reasons the system could be slower, viruses being a common cause.

Have you tried the windows repair wizard. Sometimes can help. Just go to the network and sharing center and click on the X.

Happenned a time or two with my router. You simply have to reinitialize it, simple as unplugging it for 30 seconds. If it doesn't work, come back and tell us.

Why do they try to do things like that while to me, piracy actually helps promote whatever music it is. If it wasn't for that, there's a lot of albums I wouldn't have bought. I also see some small bands/people promoting file sharing, since the bands actually make their money on the trips, not the albums where most of the money goes to the label. Anyway that was a few years ago, now I go to youtube to listen to the music before buying it.

It's just a standard Ethernet cable, not sure if that's what you're saying. Yes that's what I was saying. You have the standard Ethernet cable that you usually use between a router/switch and a computer. When you want to plug 2 routers using Ethernet, you should use what is called a crossover cable, the difference between standard and crossover is the order of the wires at each end. usually you get a crossover with your router though. As far as I know, not many routers can work when they are connected to another router without a crossover. Mine does, but my router is recent.

I remember when Dells were good computers too. Then they went to low quality laptops that would break often, and now that Dell is back in the company, the quality might be a little higher, but not high enough for my standards. You still get a higher quality in a similarly priced HP for example.

Well, since they added to HD cache, they're faster even if they still go at 7200 rpm. My new 1TB with 32MB cache is faster than the old 750GB I have that has 16MB cache, and I see the difference in speed. Still is much faster to use an SSD, but with traditionnal HDs you just get what you want.

Wtf is this discussion? I have an Athlon XP ~1.6Ghz and play hd fine. We're talking about the graphics processing, not the actual processor work.

I would stay away from Dell. Nowadays they break really fast. A few people here has had bad things happen to them, and the People where I live too, for example my friend that had a Dell studio die on him after 3 months use. I would strongly suggest Asus, they are very high quality laptops, although the price is a little higher, you won't regret it, I know I didn't regret paying a little more for an Asus. Else than that, Hp is not that bad, but you'll have to remove quite a bit of crapware. Also Acer if you want something that won't cost that much and perform well, but as far as I know, the battery life will be pretty short after a few years.

True, on my 17" laptop the battery life is ~3 hours.

Hey, welcome back to the forums. I don't think we've talked that much in the past, but your username sure is familiar to me.

I have an i3 in the computer I recently built and let me tell you, it's far from a bad processor. Dual core with Multithreading, it outperformed my Athlon dual core that I had in my old computer by a hell of a lot. And yes, the i3 processor does have some graphics processing, but never something like a real graphics card.

Seems like you have some adware. I would unistall AVG and get something better like Microsoft Security Essentials or Avira Antivir. Also tracking cookies are not dangerous, they cannot do any harm to the computer, although it is good to remove them if you want.

Have you tried formatting your computer? No, that was just a joke. I will look into it when I have time.
